I sat up slowly, the process making my entire body feel like it was going to break, bones and all. But I successfully made it, resting my back 

against the headboard, releasing a relieved sigh. I reached for my glasses and put them on. 

I still can’t believe he took care of the tampon, and it was placed perfectly. 

That devilish man. 

The things he does both alarm and fascinate me. However, in the end, it was all part of the

What’s privacy? That word meant nothing to that devil. Was this a sick ritual of his to mess with my phone whenever he got his hands on it? What’s he gonna save it with next? The love of my life? 

I was on the verge of tossing my phone across the room, but my phone rang again. Tori. 

I just realized she had left me three missed calls. 

“Hey girl! Did I call too early?” 

“No, I’m-” 

“I couldn’t wait! The pictures are out! Damn, you killed it!” She pitched, and I could tell she was jumping now. 

I smiled, an action that made me feel better. I was glad she called.

I giggled as she ranted on, I knew she was looking forward to it more than I was. I wish I had 

brought her along.

“It freaks me out when he acts like a husband who’s out of the world. The kind you only see in fiction. I mean, I have always prayed I would bag one like that…” I rolled my eyes. “In my dreams…‘

I mulled how her reaction would be if I told her Ares had washed my hair, bathed me, and placed a tampon. Maybe I shouldn’t because I’m freaking out as it is. 

“Girl, I don’t blame you. I’d freak out or get a whiplash. I’ve no idea how you stay in the same space with that devil. Gotta give you points for working with him and becoming his wife.” 

“Yeah…” I mumbled. “I wonder too.” 

“Are you alright? Your voice sounds like you were strangled or something.” 

“I–I have a sore throat.”

I suddenly recalled Ares eating me out in the hallway and me screaming as I grip for balance. 

“Aww… I hate it when periods bring out the worst. It’s like the entire universe is against you and you’re fighting one on one, knowing you’re not gonna win and nature must take its course.” 

I chuckled. “Stop!” 

“I mean it! Or having a one–on–one with a mouse. Trust me, it’s like something’s moving in there and squeaking.” 

“Tori!” 

“It’s nice hearing you laugh. You sounded so dull. Last night must have been dramatic, huh? I mean, aside from mingling with high class who-” 

“Tori…“I repeated in a warning tone this time. This breakfast was too good to set aside.

My mind flashed to Naomi, Ares‘ ex–fiancée. 

I shook my head. “It was eventful!” I took a bite out of my toast. 

“That’s it?” 

Tori wasn’t gonna let me go with just that. She wanted me to spill everything, but I couldn’t. 

“A lot of performance, and I met someone.” 

“Someone?” 

“Ares‘ ex–fiancée.” 

Tori choked, coughing loudly, and by my guess, she was in the middle of drinking her coffee when I dropped that bomb. 

“Ew! I think it came out of my nose.”

But Naomi wasn’t just your usual ex–fiancée. She sold her soul to the devil, maybe for one night, I don’t care, but she was me as she claimed. I was just the upgraded version. 

I couldn’t help thinking if I was gonna end up like her. Will the devil have my soul and heart? 

I snorted. What heart? I lost it with Dan. I’m never using that shit again.
