“We understand. So how have you managed to keep him from hurting Bonine? We know he threatened you, but what happened after that? How have you managed to keep him calm and away from Bonine for this long? You said that you told him that you would reject him once you turned 18, what happened there?” Nick fires question after question at me seeming anxious for my answer, but I get it. He is worried about Bonine and needs to know if anything is coming her way.Â
“Well, you see, after he told me about our bond and threatened me we didn’t speak for several days, and it killed me. Every moment of every day I was angry and on edge wondering what he was going to do, and I couldn’t handle it anymore, so I went to see him when I knew that he was on guard duty. For some reason, he was covering someone’s shift. I don’t know why, but either way, it allowed me to see him alone. I planned to try and somehow stop him from hurting Bonine while also letting me go. Of course, looking back now, I can see that it would never have worked but then he decided to tell me something that would ultimately be what helped me get through it.”Â
“What did he tell you?”Â
“When I turned up at his guard post he told me that he had been planning on calling me after his shift, that he was sorry about how he had acted towards me and that he wanted us to make a real go of things. He wanted us to be mates, even married and have kids ifÂ
that’s what I wanted. He seemed like he really wanted to do it all and that is what helped me.”Â

“You didn’t believe him, did you?” Robbie asks looking ready to kill at a second’s notice. Already I’ve learned that he’s the quietest of the brothers but just as lethal and he doesn’t take kindly to anyone hurting any of his friends or family, and he’s already made it clear that I’m family now, both Bonine and I so goddess help my ex–mate if Robbie starts right now.Â
“Of course not. Well, I did think that maybe he wanted that life but I also knew that it wouldn’t be all the sunshine and roses that he was making out. I don’t think he realized that I knew everything about him and the person he was which is what helped me. I pretended to go along with his plan. I pretended that I had taken some time to think it over and I had decided that I wanted him as my mate, wanted the life that he had planned. I made him believe that I wanted it all and, thankfully, I was convening. Convincing enough that I managed to get him to make somewhat of a deal with me.Â
“That was good thinking on your part, Lily, Nick says. “Can I ask what the deal was?”Â
“Of course, After I told him that I wanted everything he did, I also told him that I understood why he told me early but that I hadÂ
always imagined meeting my mate at 18… that I had always imagined… mating at 18… Several growls start bouncing off the walls of theÂ
guard room but I ignore them and carry on. “Thankfully, because he believed what I said he agreed to wait until I was 18 before we didÂ
anything… sexual including kissing which I was fucking grateful for, because not only did it keep Bonnie safe it also gives me time to turnÂ
18 an-Â
“And run away. We planned to run away as soon as you turned 18, so you managed to make him believe you and tag him along untilÂ
you turned 187 Bonnie asks her voice laced with a touch of amusement and her face showing pride,” I nod smiling because I just cantÂ
help it. ‘Yep, that’s exactly what I did!Â
“That was a good move, Lily. Im going to enjoy having you as my sister! Robbie laughs from where he’s sitting in the comer. “But wait… the last 5 months. Instantly I know where her mind has gone. “Everything was ok, Bon. Did I hate knowing that he was my mate? Of course! But the deal kept his hands off me, so the worst thing I had to do was to play nice whenever he caught me alone. If playingÂ
nice is all it would take to keep you safe, then i would do it for the rest of my life.”Â

Chapter 94Â
76Â
“So, what happened when you were brought back here the night of the ball? If Bonnie’s dad is your mate then how is Shane also your mate? I’m surprised to hear Will’s voice. He’s been so quiet that I forgot that he was here. “I can answer both of those questions with theÂ
same answer.Â
The night of the ball just before Bonnie and I left I called him on his cell and rejected him. He knew that if he didn’t accept my rejection then he would suffer, so despite his anger over it, he accepted and I ran. Of course, he swore that the next time that he saw me I was dead, both Bonnie and I, but I knew that we would be gone before he could find us… well, I thought we would be… anyway, it was when I was brought back that my wolf picked up Shane as our second chance mate and I couldn’t have been happier.”Â
Nick lets out a growl as he puts his attention on to me. “Lily, you have my word as your new Alpha and more importantly, as your new brother, your new family, that both you and Bonnie are safe. Every single man in this room would give their life to protect either of you. You are incredibly strong for doing what you did. Both of you are two of the strongest women that I have ever met and, quite frankly, I’m happy that you didn’t get to run away, and I know that Shane will say the same, but I assure you that neither of you need to worry. Your demons are now our demons, and we will wipe the floor with the fucking lot of them!”Â
