Ava unwrapped each box, and she found a line of sparkling jewelry inside, along with a tiny birthday card. 

Jane grabbed one of the boxes and looked at the card inside. “These are earrings from Keith, and this ring from Mason would go perfectly with them. 

“Oh, I remember now–this was the pair Aunt Penelope had someone buy at that auction last time. I thought it was for Lila, but it turns out she gave it to her future daughter–in–law instead. 

“Man, Aunt Penelope is really generous.” 

Keith’s mother, Penelope Holcomb, was Jane’s aunt, which was why she knew all the details. 

Jane’s eyes lit up as she went through more of the gifts. “Look at these! The Brocks really live up to their thousand–year–old legacy. Their taste is just incredible. This piece is on par with the top treasures you’d find in a museum. 

“They say this kind of emerald only comes from the ancient Terran era. There’s none of it on this planet. This has to be a family heirloom, right? How many years of history are we talking about here? And they just handed it over like it was nothing!” 

Jane squeezed Ava in a hug. “If you wore just one of these outside, I can’t imagine how jealous people would be.” 

She patted her chest and looked down at a bracelet made of several beads, which was from Laurent. 

Taking a closer look, she almost stopped breathing. 

After a long pause, she set the jewelry box in front of Ava, her voice trembling. “Do you any idea what this is?” 

Ava glanced at it.

To her, those beads looked plain—nothing like the other dazzling pieces. “I don’t know. What is it?” 

“That’s Mindfuse Crystals. These only grow in the brain of a female mutant of Rank Triple–S. Think of them as energy crystals. For someone who’s an Awakened, they’re priceless. 

“Wearing them helps nurture your primal power, and when you’re breaking through to a higher level, they help you stabilize. Honestly, you can’t even buy these. 

“My mom only has two, and she treasures them so much that she won’t even let me touch

Jane counted the beads–there were six Mindfuse Crystals. That meant Laurent had killed at least six high–ranking female mutants himself, but then again, not every female mutant had these crystals. 

Quietly closing the box, she continued, “Laurent really lives up to his reputation as a genius of Rank Triple–S. He was a born fighter–a real man. I don’t think anyone really understands just how strong he is.” 

Ava never expected that something so plain could be so valuable. “But I’m not an Awakened. Isn’t it kind of a waste to give something so valuable to me?” 

Jane replied, “How is that a waste? You’re his wife. Whether you are an Awakened or not, who else would he give it to? You should just keep it. You never know, maybe you’ll need it one day.” 

Ava couldn’t help but laugh. “You think I might become an Awakened one day, too?” 

She had gotten so lucky just by awakening her elemental power. 

How could someone have both elemental and primal power? That would be totally unheard of. 

Jane blinked and giggled. “Why not? You just turned 18. My primal power was awakened when I was 28. You’ve still got plenty of time.” 

“Jane, let’s be realistic. We shouldn’t daydream.” Ava started closing the jewelry boxes. She was a bit stumped by how to handle all these expensive gifts. 

Jane saw her frowning and realized she hadn’t really listened. 

Ava clearly thought these gifts were too much, so Jane knew there was no use trying to change her mind for now. She would just have to figure it out herself someday. 

“Ava, try on those two silk dresses for me! I can’t wait. Asnio said that you look amazing in silk dresses. It is like you were born to wear them. Seriously, that’s such a high compliment.” 

Jane grabbed her hand and hurried her along. 

Ava kept the jewelry away and laid the two silk dresses on the bed, saying, “Mr. Mett’s work is incredible. Seeing it in person is even more stunning.” 

Jane stroked the fabric for a while. Then, she urged Ava to change, even reaching over to undress her. 

Ava jumped, insisting, “Jane, let me do it myself.”

Jane released her grip, opining, “You are so timid. How are you ever going to face your husband naked? You’ll die of embarrassment.” 

Ava was speechless. 

Jane watched as Ava took off her top, followed by her pants. She had fair skin and a great figure, making Jane unable to resist squeezing her waist. 

“Look at your waist,” she complimented. 

Ava slapped her hand away. “Jane, be serious.” 

“Being serious never got me anywhere. Honestly, at this moment I wish I were a man!” Jane sighed. “The creator must have spent extra time on you. How can anyone be this perfect? The guys you’re with are really lucky.”
