109 Don’t Start Anything Funny 

Roxy waved her hand, “Go on. Ava, come hang out with us again when you have time.” 

Caela watched Jane and Ava walk away, then turned to Mireya, “Jane really seems to like her 

cousin.” 

Mireya smiled, “Ava’s really pretty, and she looks gentle too. If I had a cousin like that, I’d definitely like her as well.” 

Roxy was about to say something else when she noticed a group of people up ahead. She opened her mouth in surprise, “No way, what are those guys doing at Ava’s coming–of–age party?” 

“Who showed up?” Mireya asked. 

Roxy motioned with her chin, “Seriously, those guys never come to events like this. I remember they didn’t even go to Tylissa’s coming–of–age party last year!” 

Caela and Mireya looked at the people causing the commotion, “Whoa, Keith, Ethan, Ryan, and Mason all came. Who’s the other one? He looks unfamiliar–I don’t recognize him at all.” 

Mireya checked the insignia on his uniform, “Look at his shoulder insignia. He’s a major general. He’s got a flower pinned to his chest, which means he’s not married. Judging by his age and using the process of elimination, he’s probably the eldest son of the Caswell family, the one who’s rarely seen in public.” 

Lianne’s cheeks flushed as she saw her stepbrother appear with the others. She covered her mouth, trying to hide her laughter. Out of everyone here, besides the Morrens, only she knew the truth, and she had no intention of telling. She’d just enjoy the show. 

Lianne had only recently learned about Ava and Laurent being matched, and that Ava had been matched with several others as well. Her mom told her that Ava was force–matched to them by the system. When Lianne heard this, all she could think was that Ava was incredible. 

She remembered the time she went to meet Ava, they ran into Laurent and his friends at dinner, and Laurent had even invited them to join. 

So that day, Laurent and those guys weren’t just meeting by chance, and they definitely weren’t just ordinary friends! 

Now that she thought about it, Ava had claimed she didn’t know them, but looking back, everything Laurent and his friends said and did have a deeper meaning. 

Lianne’s eyes sparkled as she stared, not looking away for a second. She saw Ava pause, clearly wanting to go in the other direction, but Jane held on tight and dragged her right toward the

Am I even allowed to watch this? Lianne grinned to herself, glad she had arrived early. Otherwise, she’d have missed all this excitement. 

Ava knew her five matches would show up for her coming–of–age party. 

But did they really have to come together? Couldn’t they show up one at a time? Anyone who didn’t know better would think a boy band from Capitol Planet was making their debut. 

Ava was annoyed with herself for being so observant–she immediately spotted that eye- catching group at the door and tensed up. 

She wanted to make a quick exit. But her plan fell apart. Jane must have seen it coming and locked onto her, hissing, “What are you afraid of? It’s not like they’re going to eat you!” 

Ava found herself dragged forward by Jane, all those guys looking straight at them. She could hear the gasps and whispers from people around them. She couldn’t make out what everyone was saying, but she felt like everyone’s eyes were on them. 

“Jane, don’t make this a big deal,” Ava quickly warned. She didn’t want anyone to know about her connections with them–at least, not yet. 

“Ava!” Asher came over and stood next to her, giving her a cheeky wink as the group approached. 

“Asher, don’t start anything funny,” Ava warned him under her breath. 

Asher just grinned, offering his arm. When Ava put her hand through his arm, he looked at the 

group 

and gave 

them a defiant look. 

Asher eyed the group up and down like he was inspecting merchandise, flashing a huge smile, “I thought you guys hated coming to things like this.” 

Asher patted Ava’s hand, “Come on, Ava, let me introduce you properly. This is Ethan, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, the youngest member of Congress ever. He’s got a bright future. This is Ryan, the top star in the entertainment world and the dream guy for millions of girls. Here’s Mason, who built a business empire at such a young age. That’s Keith, heir to Holcomb Corporation. And lastly, this is Laurent, Commander of the Eastern Galactic Fleet, a major general.” 

“These five are the hottest young talents on Capitol Planet!” Asher announced seriously, winking at Ava.
