144 Quacks like duck.Â
It was true I thought to myself. His argument made a lot ofÂ
“This is starting to sound like a conspiracy, Louis,” I told him.Â
“I mean if it quacks like a duck…” Louis continued as heÂ
“…it probably is a duck,” I finished off for him before my lips pressed together in contemplation.Â
“Do you think that the man Ms Caldwell saw Diana with could be him?” I asked.Â
“I don’t know, perhaps,” he answered.Â
“But if it’s a conspiracy then who is it centered around?Â
“Bingo,” Louis then said as he extended his thumb and index finger at me. “now you’re asking the serious question.”Â
My eyes widened as I thought about it. “-Keith?” I then said surprised by my answer. However, it’s the only one that made sense. The object of Disna’s desire was Keith after all. So I’m assuming that that’s who the person behind the scenes was after too.Â
“Most likely,” Louis agreed. “Perhaps Diana was sent to get close to him probably because of his feelings for since she’s his firmer liver.Â
“But what do they want from Keith?” I said.Â
“My guess is it’s something to do with money. Keith is billionaire and chairman to a multi–billion dollar company. It puts a target on your back. Not to mention the papers you found look like accounting.”Â
I took out the papers from my pocket once more so we could look at them. “If only we knew what the numbers meant. The paper isnt labeled or anything” I said. The numbers on the paper, though organized were just random numbers listed that seemed to have no purpose.Â
Louis took them himself and inspected them. They look like drafts of an accounting paper. They way in which the numbers are organized that is.” he said.Â
So if Keith was who they really wanted that meant Tony and I were collateral damage? An unsettling feeling came over me as I processed that fact. This whole time I thought Diana was acting on her own and just trying to kill me for fun but now there was aÂ

whole conspiracy behind it. Someone who wanted me dead was backing her.Â
However, this made the whole situation so much worse now.Â
“We were being watched,” I then said as I looked at Louis nervously. “Someone knew we were going to be there in Kensington and made sure to get rid of any evidence.”Â
I know,” he answered.Â
“If this person is powerful as you are suggesting, then is my son truly safe? Am I safe? I’ve been doing everything I can to protect myself from Diana thinking she was the only threat I had to worry about.Â
“Hey, there’s no need to panic,” he said as his hand came over mine. “Recall that they didn’t openly attack us.”Â
I remembered the hood masked person had tried to punch me but also immediately ran after doing so. Indicating that his only goal was to get information not to attack.Â
“Okay?” I said wondering what the significance was.Â
“What it means is that though they are aware that we’re onto them they are also being cautious. They won’t try anything suddenly,” he explained.Â
“They are most likely cautious of you,” I said.Â
“Should we warn Keith?” I then asked Louis. If the conspiracy was centered aroundÂ
him that meant he was in trouble.Â
“You don’t want to?” he askedÂ
“I’m not going to lie, a piece of me wants him to suffer but at the same time, looking at all this, it seems quite serious. Not to mention I want him emotionally hurt, not physically,” I said.Â
“Im glad to hear that,” he said. “Youre still caring and kind even when you’re mad.”Â
“But it’s not like he’ll believe me if I call him and say: hey I think someone is trying toÂ
get you.”Â
“From the very beginning the whole situation was set up to make you look crazy if you try to tell someone. So even if Keith tried to look into it, it would be difficult for him to find anything unless he knows what to specifically look for. Unlike you who is a direct victim you can think of ways to find the truth. if we want to warn him I think proving Diana is lying to him is a good start. Which means you have to win your case in theÂ

divorce.”Â
I nodded my head in a agreement. “However, now that ‘they‘ know we know and theyÂ
are supporting Diana what if they sabotage or plan in court?” I askedÂ
“Time is of the essence of course. I already have my men looking into the bank situation,” he said.Â
I then let out a tired sigh. “All I wanted to do was get evidence on Diana and call it a day, now I’m getting more than I bargained for,” I said to him.Â
“I think you were curious to find the truth. It was your idea to go to KensingtonÂ
remember?” he said.Â
“True,” I agreed.Â
“In any casem you deserve to know the truth. You deserve to know the reason why your whole life was flipped upside down.” He told meÂ
“In a way I’m kind of glad it happened. I wouldn’t have met you if it didnt,” I said to him.Â
HisÂ
eyes then softened as they stared at me. “Thank god, you feel the same way. I didn’t want to seem like I was insensitive if I said it.”Â
“Come here,” he said as he pulled me from me seat towards him and had me sit on his lap.Â
“If you’re worried you can stay at my apartment more if you want,” he told me. “It would put me at ease seeing you safe at all times as well.”Â
My lips curved into a smile. “You sure you’re not just saying that to have an excuse to continue kidnapping me?”Â
“Of course, any excuse to keep you around,” he said proudly to me with a smile.Â
“You have no shame,” I said to him as my hands went to cup his face, our heads drew closer and our lips connected. The taste of tobacvo filled my mouth from the cigarette he had been smoking.Â
