“Really?” Jane glanced at her cousin. “Other than being about the same age, I really don’t see the two of you having much in common to talk about.” 

It was a blunt remark, bordering on rude. Caela and the others all knew that Jane had never liked the Clark family’s little princess to begin with, and on an occasion like this, she clearly had no intention of sparing her feelings–very on brand for Jane. 

Tylissa was momentarily choked by the comment. She could clearly sense Jane’s aversion. She opened her system control panel and checked the target’s favorability–Jane’s score sat at -58.

The smile at the corner of Tylissa’s lips stiffened slightly. She genuinely couldn’t understand why Jane disliked her so much. The two of them had barely even spoken before.

Jane looked completely baffled. She exchanged glances with her friends, and the few of them instantly understood each other’s thoughts. Roxy lowered her head slightly, struggling hard not to burst out laughing. 

“What the hell are you even saying? Speak like a normal human,” Jane shot back without the slightest courtesy. 

Ava knew perfectly well how little cultural literacy Jane actually possessed. There was no way she had understood even half of what Tylissa had just said.

She could also sense Tylissa’s arrogance, as well as her barely concealed irritation toward Jane. The clever part was that Tylissa never showed it outright. Instead, she wrapped it all up long, flowery speech that subtly mocked Jane for being uncultured. 

Ava had originally felt nothing in particular toward Tylissa. But coming to the Morren Residence as a guest and then covertly belittling Jane crossed a line; it hit Ava right where it hurt, and so her impression of Tylissa worsened considerably, 

“I don’t know you, Ms. Clark, and we’ve never met before today,” Ava reminded slowly and

evenly. “This so–called instant connection is nothing more than your own subjective feeling. I know myself very well, so perhaps you should save those words just now for your future husband instead.” 

Tylissa’s gaze flickered. She understood Ava’s meaning perfectly well–but that had been her intention all along. From the very first moment she saw Ava, the impact had been far from small, but unlike the others, who simply fell for Ava’s looks. 

A vague realization surfaced in Tylissa’s mind as she focused on Ava’s distinct features and her bearing. This woman probably didn’t belong in this world at all. If I could cross into this unfinished novel, even though the original female lead was dead, who was to say no one else had crossed over as well? 

Once the thought took root, a strong sense of danger rose within Tylissa. If there really was another time–displaced survivor like her, then all the poetry, television, films, and songs she had brought over from Earth would be completely exposed. 

The feeling was like someone gripping her by the throat. Unease flooded her heart, and she urgently wanted to uncover this woman’s true background. 

Tylissa smiled. “I was just joking with Jane earlier. I didn’t expect her not to get it—it’s my fault. But I really am very interested in you, Ms. Ava. Why don’t we find somewhere else to chat? Who knows, maybe we share a much deeper connection. Perhaps we could even become very good friends.” 

A faint smile rested on Ava’s lips, but a high wall immediately rose in her heart. This Tylissa… she’s not simple. 

“Huh, were you mocking me for being educated, Clark?” Jane suddenly turned back, her face turning grim at once. 

“Why so sensitive, Ms. Jane?” Tylissa replied, blinking playfully. “I was only joking with you. You were the one stopping me from talking to Ms. Ava. I’m sorry–I was wrong and shouldn’t have teased you like that. You wouldn’t stoop to my level over something so small, right, Ms. Jane?” 

Jane stared at Tylissa, her chest heaving rapidly. This woman talks with barbs hidden in every word. She’s seriously infuriating. 

The smile on Ava’s lips gradually froze. “Since you’ve asked, let’s go sit over there for a bit, Ms. Clark.” 

She pointed toward a nearby seating area. There weren’t many people there, and it was relatively secluded–perfect for a private conversation. 

Jane immediately grabbed Ava’s hand. “You’re not going. We don’t have any relationship with her. What’s there to talk about?” 

Her displeasure toward Tylissa had reached its peak. If not for concern over the other woman’s
