146 An informantÂ
“Dear Master Louis,Â
Your brother has asked me to relay that you areÂ
to end your relations with Mrs AclanÂ
her to her husband.”Â
The email read.Â
nd returnÂ
It had left me speechless after I was done reading it the day before.Â
Why was my brother concerned about myÂ
relations with Jasmine? The Acland andÂ
Carrington groups had no affiliations with one another. And secondly, what did he mean by; ‘return her to her husband‘ as if she was an object being passed around?Â
I was left dumbfounded on the train yesterday, thinking about it over and over again. Up until Jasmine brought me out of my thoughts when theÂ

train arrived in Kensington. Something felt offÂ
perhaps he might be curious about the situation but they wouldn’t tell me to end things.Â
An exhausted sigh escaped me. I didn’t have time to deal with this right now. Not when I was already dealing with the mystery surrounding Keith and Jasmine. No matter whatÂ
rotherÂ
said I wasn’t going to end things with Jasmine. Not when protecting her was my main priority. I would ignore the email.Â
Once I was done with my phone I put it in my jogger pockets and returned to my training. It was an hour later when Tony and Jasmine were done with their lesson.Â
“Louis,” I heard Jasmine’s strained voice as she approached the ring I was training in.Â
I turned away from my dummy and to Jasmine and Tony. My eyes almost popped out of their sockets at the sight of Jasmine. She looked likeÂ

she had been through a war zone.Â
“Did you have fun?” I then asked her but I already knew the answer.Â
Her eyes narrowed as they glared at me. A playful grin appeared on my face.Â
“And how was it for you Tony?” I aÂ
him.Â
“I’m tired but I had fun,” he said. He definitely looked a bit more energetic than Jasmine who was completely out of it. Then again the coach would go a bit easier on a child compared to an adult.Â
That was absolute torture,” she complained. “That coach has no mercy whatsoever.”Â
I knew exactly what Jasmine meant because I found Freeman’s training to be gruelling as well. “I know but she is good at what she does,” I toldÂ
her.Â
“Oh, nonsense, you’re just weak,” a voice saidÂ

from behind Jasmine. Coach Freeman came from behind her. Jasmine flinched upon hearing her voice not expecting to see her. “You have absolutely no balance in your movements,” she commented.Â
“So will your girlfriend and kid be coming back for more lessons?” Freeman asked meÂ
My eyebrows sprang at her comment and I shook my head in disbelief. Now I had stopped coming for lessons with Freeman over a year ago, however, I’m sure that in that time she would have known I wouldn’t have had a 9–year–oldÂ
child.Â
“We can have you and Tony train here twice a week?” I suggested as I looked at Jasmine. “What do you think?”Â
“I don’t know if I’ll even survive the next lesson but alright,” she agreed.Â
“Thats the spirit! You’ll get better with time,”Â

Freeman said and let out a belting laugh. She then slapped Jasmine’s back in encouragement.Â
Jasmine winced and rubbed her back.Â
“Okay, I’ll see you all soon then. I have anotherÂ
private lesson to go to,” she said as she began to walk away from us.Â
“She has so much strength for a sÂ
elderly lady,” Jasmine commented.Â

“I know,” I said to her. “She used to be a pro mma fighter in the women’s league.”Â
“Did any of the people she fought survive?” I then asked.Â
I smiled as I looked at Jasmine.Â

We then left the gym and made our way home. Upon arriving I informed Jasmine of the information I had received at the gym about theÂ

landlord.Â
She thanked me for sharing the information but I felt bad that that was all I could tell her. Instead of answers I only got I still had my men looking into the situation. I wanted to solve this mystery badly and find the person who was behind everything. I wanted Jasmine to be cafe.Â
Before the end of the day, I looked back at the email Roberts‘ assistant had sent me and sent a reply. At first, I was just going to ignore it but now I thought I should make myself clear to Robert. I was leaving Jasmine.Â

ANONYMOUS POVÂ
I sat down in my open lounge as I heldÂ
my litÂ
cigar in one hand and the other held the phone toÂ
my ear.Â
“What’s the situation with the Chairman?” I askedÂ

my informant from the Acland HQ.Â
“He’s trying to sabotage Jasmine’s relationship with Louis Carrington,” he told me.Â
“Is he?” I asked my interest piqued.Â
“He can’t seem to make up his mind between the two women. He doesn’t know who to trust. He says he doesn’t want to break hisÂ
ise toÂ
Diana but he’s also wondering if Jasmine is telling him the truth,” he said.Â
“So he decided the best solution was to play both of them?” I said as I laughed. Oh Keith, you’re just like your father, aren’t you? A cheater. I’m sure Diana was shitting her pants right now over her precious Keith bouncing between the two of them.Â
I was already aware of Keith’s dilemma of doubting the situation between Jasmine and Diana. Before it was easier for his simple mind to pick Diana’s side when Jasmine lived with himÂ

due to how I had set things up. However, now with Jasmine’s new disposition I imagine it had him confused.Â
“However, I will say it seems to me he may be swaying towards Jasmine more,” the informant went on. “At least, that’s how it appears to me.”Â
“-Oh- well now that’s interesting.” I said as myÂ
ad him eyebrows raised. Was it jealousy wanting Jasmine now? I wondered. It probably bruised his ego seeing her with another man. That proud self–righteous idiot it probably was.Â
“Wait sir, so about my request—” he then said.Â
At the same time there was a knock at the door to my lounge and my eyes averted to it.Â
“What are you talking about?” I asked my informant as I called for the person who knocked to enter the room.Â
“I meant, my request that I asked you about lastÂ

time,” he said.Â
