His searing body pressed fully against hers, the heat so intense that Emily didn’t dare to even twitch. 

From behind, Alexander enveloped Emily in his arms. Instead of making any untoward moves, he simply nestled his face against the side of her neck. 

When he finally spoke, his voice carried a tone of desperate pleading, “Just let me hold you for a sec, okay? Just a little bit.” 

Still rigid, Emily attempted to push him away. 

Noticing her resistance, Alexander tightened his grip, his voice. cracking with emotion. “Emily, let me be your lover. I don’t care if you love him. Just… don’t shut me out.” 

He was practically begging, his body quivering with emotion. 

Emily could feel the dampness on her neck. 

She wasn’t certain if he was crying, but a sense of unease welled up inside her. 

Ceasing her attempts to push him away, she let him hold her close and murmured softly, “You’re drunk, Alexander.”

She let his warm, almost fiery breath fan across her neck.

“Your words don’t mean shit. I ain’t listening to you,” he retorted. 

After all, if Emily could be counted on to keep her promises, she wouldn’t have let him down. 

She was a liar, plain and simple, and he wasn’t about to listen to her. 

Emily was about to say something more, a bit dazed, but Alexander had already spun back around.
