The emergency exit to the stairwell swung open.Â

Four pairs of eyes instantly locked onto Edwina. She remained ol and collected, totally unfazed, which left the four of them momentarily speechless.Â
Their breathing was steady and controlled. Edwina could tell these people were clearly pros. Unfortunately, they messed with the wrong person.Â
“Is that the chick in the picture?” one of the guys asked.Â
300 thousand dollars just walked right into our hands!” another snickered.Â
“Man, we’re on a roll today,” the third chimed in.Â
The four of them talked loudly, not giving a damn about keeping lowkey.Â
With just ten minutes left, everyone hiding out in the hotel would be charging in to finish the job, so causing a ruckus here didn’t bother them at all.Â
Edwina flexed her fingers and asked casually, “Where are the rest of your crew?”Â
The four exchanged glances, then burst out laughing together.Â
One of them sneered, “Sweetheart, we’re here to take you out, and you’re worried about the others?Â
“Are you nuts? Do you even realize what kind of mess you’re in?”Â
As he spoke, he tried to yank Edwina’s hair.Â
But before his hand could even get close, an unseen force knocked him back, slamming him into the emergency exit door.Â
He ended up with a massive lump on his head, which looked like he’d grown a horn.Â
One of them cursed, “Damn, you’re a tough little thing.Â
“Before we finish you off, we’re gonna have some fun first!”Â
Before he could finish spewing his filthy threats, Edwina clamped down on one guy’s shoulder and wrenched it sharply. A sickening crack echoed in the stairwell as his bone popped out of place.Â
“I’ll ask you one more time. Where are the rest of your crew?” Edwina’s voice was icy.Â
“Boys, let’s all go at her. Let’s make sure she doesn’t walk out of here alive!” one of them snarled.Â
The four of them pulled out their knives and rushed her together, the blades flashing so bright it hurt to look.Â
Edwina’s patience had hit rock bottom. Her voice was colder than ice as she spat, “Hopeless fools.”Â
She moved with ruthless speed, nothing like how she’d handled Abby Lennox and Robin Morton before. This time, she wasn’t holding back. Every move was meant to kill.Â
Every arm she got her hands on shattered without exception.Â
Within sixty seconds, all four of them were left with broken arms, totally helpless and unable to fight back.Â
They scrambled back into the stairwell, eyes wide with terror, watching Edwina close in on them like she was some kind ofÂ

monsterÂ
They blurted out, “We’ll talk!Â
The rest of our group is mixed in with the security team. As soon as chaos breaks out, the guards will rush in, and they’ll go after Randolph, catch him off guard.Â
“The guys hiding in the stairwells on each floor are here to kill youÂ
The last two words barely escaped their trembling lips.Â
Edwina shook out her wrists, thinking, ‘If they’d just talked sooner, we could’ve saved ourselves all this trouble!Â
“You four, stay right here. Don’t even think about leaving,” she ordered.Â
The four of them nodded frantically.Â
Edwina glanced around, but there was nothing handy to tie them up with.Â
“You really not gonna run for it?” Edwina raised an eyebrow, her voice cool and threatening.Â
The four of them shook their heads in unison.Â
Edwina drawled, her voice slow and dangerous, “But I don’t buy it. Guess I’ll just have to break your legs too.”Â
With a few brutal kicks, she broke their legs one by one. The four of them collapsed in the stairwell, howling in agony, totally helpless and unable to move an inch.Â
As Edwina walked away, one of them was so terrified he wet himself. For years to come, the sight of Edwin’as blue dress would haunt their nightmares.Â
Edwina didn’t waste another second. Those heels were slowing her down, so she kicked them off and dashed barefoot into the party hall.Â
Tonight, it wasn’t just her. Randolph, Kelvin, Adrian, and others who had ties to the Luminara satellite were targets on their hit list.Â
“Miss Lennox, is everything okay? Why are you barefoot?” Helene called out from behind, her voice dripping with fakeÂ
concern.Â
Helene never called Edwina sister when there were people around. She’d had to pull some serious strings just to score an invite to this party.Â
At that moment, she was deliberately raising her voice so everyone would look her way.Â
As expected, all eyes snapped back to Edwina. He dainty feet on the plush black carpet made for a striking contrast. There was something strangely captivating about it.Â
Edwina shoved Helene aside and snapped coldly, “If you don’t want to die, get out of here now!”Â
Her gaze swept the crowd, locking onto a man clutching a glass, hesitating to smash it, eyes flicking to his watch over andÂ
over.Â
This was the signal those four had talked about. The moment he kicked off some trouble, security would have their excuse to barge in.Â
Edwina sprinted straight for the guy, wrenched his arms behind his back, and drove her knee into his neck, slamming him to the ground. He couldn’t even let out a single sound.Â

Chapter 10Â
The whole room was left speechless by Edwina’s sudden, savage tack.Â
“What the hell is she doing?” someone blurted out.Â
Is she nuts? This is a party. Does she have some kind of beef with that guy?” another person gasped.Â
Kelvin saw what Edwina was doing and rushed over without hestation.Â
Edwina ordered urgently, “Don’t let security in. There are people here trying to kill Randolph. Protect him. Get him out of here now!”Â
Kelvin didn’t doubt Edwina for a second. Even though he was worried sick about her, he couldn’t just leave Randolph behind.Â
Because of the Luminara satellite project, Randolph had been targeted for assassination again and again. He was definitely the number one target for the hitmen tonight.Â
The guy Edwina had pinned down realized the plan had gone sideways. He fought like a wild animal, but there was no way he could shake off her iron grip.Â
As long as he didn’t cause a scene, security wouldn’t barge in.Â
But if this dragged on, those guys outside wouldn’t just wait around forever. With all the commotion inside, they’d definitely start paying attention and storm in sooner or later.Â
Edwina just had to save whoever she could at that moment.Â
Edwina raised her voice, shouting, “There are killers mixed in with the security. Everyone, head for the back door. Don’t take the stairwells, I’m serious, stay away from the stairwells!”Â
There weren’t a ton of hitmen hiding in the stairwells, but most people there couldn’t fight at all. If they ran into those guys, they wouldn’t stand a chance.Â
Some people in the hall looked doubtful, but those who cared about their own safety were already bolting for the exits. The rest were hesitating and whispering anxiously among themselvesÂ
Adrian came sprinting out from a table in the corner, waving his arms like crazy.Â
“I trust Edwina. Move it, everyone, let’s go!” he shouted.Â
Just as he finished shouting, the guys outside caught on that something was off. They shoved the doors open and poured into the hall in a chaotic rush.Â
All of them were holding stun batons, machetes, and weapons that were definitely not standard–issue for any security team. Some people still ignored Edwina’s warning and ran straight toward the security guys.Â
The next moment, blood splattered everywhere.Â
A knife plunged into the woman who’d rushed over for help. She crumpled to the ground, eyes wide with shock, blood gushing out of her body like water.Â
Someone shrieked in terror.Â
“They’re killing us!” another voice cried out.Â
Only then did the rest of the crowd realize Edwina had been telling the truth all along.Â
The champagne pyramid crashed to the ground, tables and chairs were stomped flat, the carpet was ripped apart, and bloodÂ

Edwina’s warning had saved a lot of people, but she couldn’t save everyone.Â

The killers came from every background and looked all kinds of ways. They were clearly ruthless international mercenaries.Â
The whole place descended into utter chaos.Â
