Ava looked at Ethan’s face. His brows were relaxed, and he looked calm, like a gentle breeze and soft moonlight. There was a faint smile at the corner of his lips. His face was always steady, yet that hint of

“Ryan is like a kid,” she said. “He thinks of something and acts on it right away. Why are you joining him in messing around, too?” 

“I’m just telling the truth,” Ethan said. “How is that messing around? Ava, you still don’t understand me well enough.”

His looks fit a softer style. He wasn’t striking at first glance, yet the more you looked at him, the better he seemed. If his eyes and hair were both black, that style fit him even more. 

“What are you looking at?” Ethan asked. 

“I’m looking at you,” she said. 

Ava realized what she had just said. She felt like biting her own tongue. A flush rushed to her cheeks. 

Ethan looked at her. The smile in his eyes grew deeper. 

Ryan carefully put the lute away. His focus stayed on the instrument. His mind was still stuck on the scene of Ava playing earlier. He didn’t notice the talk between her and Ethan. 

When Ryan turned around, he saw the soft, close mood between them. He felt like he

A bit of jealousy rose in his chest. Even though Ethan was his brother, and even though they were both matched to the same wife, he still felt uneasy when he saw them together. 

Ryan pushed that feeling down and walked over. 

“I think it’s time to eat,” he said. “Ava, do you want to go now?” 

Ava raised her wrist and checked the time on her Holoband. It was almost lunchtime. She stood up right 

away. 

“Let’s go,” she said. “We shouldn’t keep Mr. Brock and Mrs. Brock waiting.” 

Ryan beamed. He took Ava’s hand. 

“Then let’s go,” he said. 

Ethan looked at his brother and said nothing.

When they opened the door, they saw that a light rain had started outside. 

Ethan picked up the umbrella by the door and opened it. He held it over Ava’s head. 

“Let’s walk together,” he said.

They walked forward together, one on each side of her. The light rain fell on the half of their shoulders that were outside the umbrella. 

At 9:30 p.m., the Brock brothers walked Ava back to the Morren Residence. 

Ryan watched her go. He then turned to Ethan with a grin. 

“Ethan, Ava admitted our relationship in front of Soren today,” he said. “That’s a big step. She said she still can’t fully open her heart to us, yet I believe she will one day. There’s that saying about winning someone over with effort.” 

“If you’re sincere enough, even a closed heart will open, Ethan said as he turned to walk. 

“Yes, that’s it,” Ryan said. “If you’re sincere enough, even a closed heart will open. I really, really like her. How can someone be this sweet and this amazing at the same time? Mom was right. I’m super lucky.” 

Ethan wasn’t surprised by Ryan’s change at all. He looked into the night and spoke slowly. 

“She really is easy to like.” 

“The Morren family watches her so closely,” Ryan said. “She even has to come home by a set time at night.” 

Ethan played an old classic song. The soft, gentle music filled the air as he spoke. 

“She just returned to the Morren family,” he said. “They cherish her and feel sorry for her They want to make up for all the love she didn’t get before.” 

Ava went back to her room. She turned on the light and changed into something more comfortable. She then opened her Holoband. 

There were messages from other people. She replied to them one by one. 

Her eyes stopped on Keith’s chat. She added another line to what she had sent earlier, ‘Your hospital can do school entrance checkups, right? School is starting soon I need to prepare the report early. 

After she washed up and dried her hair, several new messages had already arrived. 

Keith had sent many in a row. The main point was that he was free tomorrow and could go with her. 

Ava looked at the messages quietly. His interest showed a little too clearly. A lead researcher really wasn’t 

that free.
