Chapter 234 Don’t Have Feelings for Him Anymore 

Noticing Emily looking sorrowful, Hugh found an odd urge welling up, hoping she’d finalize her divorce from Ethan soon. 

As for Alexander, the moment he sensed Emily’s unhappiness, a wave of discontent washed over him. 

He was kicking himself for his past indecision and fuming that she was still pining over Ethan. 

At the table, everyone was wrapped up in their own emotions. The silence was thick as they sat there quietly, each lost in their thoughts. 

Meanwhile, after Harvey had toasted a couple of tables, his phone started ringing. 

He glanced down at it and then told the group he was about to pour a drink for, “Sorry, guys. Gotta take this call. I’ll be right back.”

“So, how’s it going?” Matthew asked impatiently.

“Cross my heart. Ethan not only took the heat for her with the drinks but even walked her to the restroom himself. You can relax,” Harvey assured him. 

Matthew’s laughter got even louder. “That’s great. Looks like the kid really has feelings for her.” 

Harvey joined in the laughter and then asked, “Sir Wilson, I heard Ethan’s wife is studying medicine, right?” 

“Yeah, she is,” Matthew said. 

“Pretty impressive. Studying medicine is no joke,” Harvey commented, sounding impressed. 

Matthew just shrugged it off. “It’s not that big of a deal. Go back and mingle with the guests. I’m off to play a game of chess.” 

After the call ended, Harvey made his way back to the banquet 

hall. 

Just then, Ethan and Nancy were also returning from the 

restroom. 

This time, Ethan was trailing behind, gently holding the hem of Nancy’s dress. He bent down for her without a second thought, doing what might seem like a humble act in others‘ eyes, but he didn’t seem to care. 

Emily caught a glimpse of them coming back. But before she could fully take in the scene, a hand suddenly covered ner eyes.

Staggering to her feet, Emily followed him. Spotting their intention to leave, Michael spoke up, “The foods haven’t all been served yet. You’re not gonna finish your meal?” 

Still clasping Emily’s hand firmly Alexander didn’t bother to turn around. His voice was laced with irritation as he retorted, “Missing a meal won’t kill, but sticking around that jerk might.” 

Hearing this, Michael didn’t put up any resistance. Instead, he nodded appreciatively and quipped, “You’re a real stand–up guy. Well done!” 

Too preoccupied with getting Emily away from the place, Alexander didn’t catch what Michael had said. 

Once outside the banquet hall, he escorted Emily to a swing set 

on the vast lawn.

Hearing her firm response, Alexander furrowed his brows even more. He stared at her intently, as if trying to read her innermost thoughts. “Then why were you crying just now?” he probed.
