151 A shocking reveal 

A knock at my office door drew my attention. Knowing who it was already I opened for them and Edward entered. When he reached my desk he scanned sll the pictures and documents then his eyes met mine. I could tell he was judging me. I didn’t care though.

‘Sir, if I may comment, but why do you continue requesting this information on Ms Towers if it only upsets you in the end?” he said. 

My eyes flashed with anger at him. “I don’t remember approving you to go on to give your opinion.” I snapped at him. 

“I apologize, sir,” he said. 

“And for your information. She’s still my wife so of course I’m going to be concerned for her,” I told him matter–of–factly.

“Of course, sir,” he answered but he sounded like he was judging me. 

“I came to give you these documents. Two of these need your approval and signature. They are department managers and have to be sent back to the. The rest are reports on the performance of recent projects that have either been completed and on going.” 

Accepting that I had to go back to work I put away my Jasmine documents and got back to work. I then took the documents he wanted me to sign for him. After going through the papers I stamped and signed them handing them back to Edward. 

After Edward left my office and I started going through the reports he had handed me. 

Some of them were general reports on the performance of several of our hotels and subsidiary companies. Most of them were of

course on the recent projects of the company. It took me a couple of hours to go through them. Everything seemed fine except for one thing, the numbers for the budgets and spending. 

Something about the accounting seemed a little off. 

When I worked on the project and approved of it I recalled different numbers and now that I was seeing the final report something felt wrong. I worked through the numbers again and again. This was just like last time I received reports wnumbers didn’t quite add up from what I recalled. 

I double checked again just to make sure but again. 

One if the reports I was going over was one on the overseas branches project where I spoke with the managing directors only weeks ago. I was sure the numbers I had seen then when we were different from what I remembered working on.

I was sure at the time when I worked on the original documents the numbers were different. 

I would have to ask Edward to get me more in–depth reports from the departments on these project reports again. My eyebrows furrowed as I contemplated. Was it just me? Thus was the third time I felt something was strange about the numbers. 

Why did everything lately feel weird? Something always had to be off. From Jasmine and Diana to also at work. Except I’d been having this feeling at work for longer. Was I overthinking it? I thought to myself. 

That evening I went home still thinking about those financial reports. 

Upon arriving at my estate, I got out of the car, lost in my thoughts, and approached the 

entrance.

suddenly opened and a figure walked out. The person jumped in surprise when he saw me. 

“Mr Acland!” he exclaimed. My eyes scanned him for a moment and then widened upon 

recognizing the figure. 

“Doctor Ivon?” I said wondering what the Acland family doctor was doing at the estate. “What are you doing here?” 

“I came to see Ms Rockford who called me,” he 

told me. 

“What happened? Is she alright?” I followed up. 

“She is fine Mr Acland…” he started. “Shes just-” he then paused and I wondered what the issue 

was. 

“Actually, it’s better if she tells you herself,” he then said mysteriously. 

“What is it?” I asked.

“Its not something I think I should say. It’s better if she explains. You’ll understand,” he told me. 

My eyebrows furrowed in confusion even more. No, I did not understand but I would just go to 

see her. 

As the maids took my bags and coat at the entrance they told me Diana was in a sitting room on the first floor. 

Upon entering the room I found her seated with some snacks and tea on the table in front of her. 

“Diana what’s wrong? I met Doctor Ivone on his way out,” I asked as I approached her. “Are you okay?” 

“Hey, Keith…” Diana said. I noticed her seemed a bit pale. “I’m fine. It’s just lately I was feeling a little sick. I thought it was nothing at first but today it felt particularly bad so I decided to call Doctor Ivon.”

I stood in front of her. 

She then looked up at me and I met her brown eyes. Her face seemed a bit pale to me. Something was in her hand I noticed but I couldnt tell what it was. “I just found out that—” she started as she reached out her free arm and took mine and placed my hand on her belly. 

My eyes nervously looked at her as I feared her next words. 

“Keith, I’m pregnant!” she told me. 

“What?” I asked in a low voice, hoping, I had 

heard wrong. 

She then held out her hand and revealed what had been holding. It was a pregnancy test and it showed a positive result. 

My body froze and my eyes widened in shock. My facial expression dropped immediately.

“Where has she gone?” I asked in complete and utter disbelief. 

“Im also not sure, ma’am,” 

“Is there anything you are sure about you idiot!” I yelled frustrated with him. Come back to me when you have information for me!” 

“I apologize ma’am,” he said as he rushed out.
