Eric fell into step beside her as they headed down the corridor.

Eric’s steps faltered for a second. 

When he looked at her again, there was a distinct heat in his eyes. 

Alice suddenly felt her cheeks warm.

His eyes deepened in response.

The corner of his mouth lifted in a slight, private smile, as if some pleasant thought had crossed his mind. 

Alice didn’t dwell on it and moved on. 

“So what were you going to say?”

“My father’s.”
