A Phone Call Part II
January was seething with rage.

“My love,” Gulliver tried to rationalize with her, “I have not had an opportunity to assess your abilities myself in a situation which is more controlled. Hell, last night I wouldn’t let you watch an interrogation, and you think I’m going to load you up with a weapon and bring you on a rescue mission?”
“Gulliver!”
“January. This is going to be dangerous. We’re going to –” he went quiet as his phone rang and his nostrils flared furiously as he lifted the screen to show his brother. “Speak.”
“What a way to answer the phone, Raptis.”
“Davis.”
“You and I need to talk.”
“About what?”
“You took my woman,” Davis growled. “I want her back. You can keep your kid. I’ll give her a new one.”
The men in the room all pulled their heads back in surprise at the bold comment.

“You stole her from me all those years ago, Raptis, I saw her first. I met her through her uncle and her father, and I knew she was meant to be mine. I only needed to wait until she finished college but then you went and fucked it all up for me.”
January’s eyes were wide in horror and revulsion as she looked at the phone Gulliver was holding in his hand.
“What the hell are you talking about?”
“You were supposed to never come to America, Raptis. You and your English and Greek background never needed to be here. I came here, to New York thinking I would be free of your fucking family and then somehow I end up in the organized crime division of the FBI and you are a person of interest. Then you went to the school to see your sister and stole the woman I’d been dreaming of for years.”
“Years? How many years, you sick pervert?” Gulliver growled. “Were you looking at her when she was in high school? Middle school?”
“It’s why I was waiting, Raptis. Then you stole her and I had my task force focus on you, looking for a way to nail you to a cross and get rid of you and you turned around and did it all yourself. You fucked up faking a wedding and knocking her up and all it took was me pointing out the god damned obvious that you’re a god–damned criminal and she ran like the devil himself was chasing her.” 2/6

“You’re a sick fuck.”
“I said, I waited for her! She would have been twenty–one when I started making my play, but I had to put everything off until she stopped crying over your shitty behavior.”
“You’re an idiot.”
“Here’s the thing. I talked to Ziogas and his daughter. I have them with me. We managed to get a judge to sign off early parole in exchange for testimony about your illegal activities. They want you. I want her. Your brother wants Ernst. January wants her parents.”
“Her parents are safe in their home.”
“Are they though? Funny how easy it was to get into their house while they were having make–up sex tonight and put a couple of bombs in places you won’t find but I will tell you this, there are three different men watching the house and if either of her parents even open a door to try to get out, the house is going to blow. Even if they get a couple of feet outside the door, kaboom.”
“Why?”
“Because she is going to come to me. I didn’t waste the last ten years of my life waiting for her to give up now.”

“Oh, don’t be so dramatic. You weren’t much better simply because it was three years after. She was barely twenty when she pushed your bastard child out. At least I was willing to wait until she was twenty–one before I made my move.”
“You are a repulsive fuck.”
“Here’s the deal, Raptis. You are going to bring January to me. Your brother is going to stand down and fuck off or I’ll kill his boyfriend. You will willingly go with Ziogas and his daughter, who by the way, between the two of us, is fucking crazy. She was going off about how she was going to fuck you, get pregnant with your spawn, and then slit your throat. She said she was going to take your inheritance and your company and kill you.”
“She can get in line behind the hundreds of others who want me dead,” Gulliver snarled out, “I’m not afraid of her and I can promise you, short of her using a syringe to withdraw semen from my ball sack, there is no way in hell she’ll ever get pregnant from me. My dick doesn’t get hard for anyone but my wife.”
“She’s not your wife.” Davis snarled.
“She will never be your wife,” Gulliver retorted as he looked at January.

“You have two hours, Raptis. Two hours to bring January to 4/6 me, and I want her in yoga pants and a crop top.”

“It’s to make sure she’s not carrying weapons,” Davis snapped back.
“She hates you, you know. She’s never going to agree to anything sexual with you.”
“She will. If she wants her parents to live, she will do as she’s told.”
“You’re a very sick man, Davis.”
“Takes one to know one, Raptis. Does your grandfather still enjoy paying for young men to be murdered in prison? I know you’re a chip off the old block.”
“I tell you what, Davis,” Gulliver said seriously, “when I come for you, and I am coming for, you will see how fucking sick and twisted I can be, but I want you to know, you will regret all of this.”
“Do you think? I have the upper hand, Raptis. Bring her. I’ll text you the location. You come alone with her and only her. If I see your brother or your buddy Ford, Ernst dies. If I see either your or January packing weapons, her parents die. Do not try to rescue anyone, or they die. I hope you understand Duchess Ziogas is going to cause you a great deal of pain. Her father has aged terribly in prison and he’s pretty frail. Good luck surviving her.”
