Once Sophia finished her meal, Ethan cleaned up the food containers. 

Stepping out of the room, he handed it to Rebecca and blurted out, “Rebecca, keep an eye on Sophie. I gotta make a quick call. I’ll be right back.” 

“No problem,” Rebecca assured him, taking the food 

containers. 

Before leaving the inpatient area, Ethan stopped at the nurses‘ station. He inquired about which wing housed patients with adult–onset fevers and pneumonia. 

Receiving the necessary info, he strode purposefully towards the respiratory unit. 

After weighing his options, he decided it was only right to pay Emily a visit. 

Arriving at the nurses‘ station there, Ethan asked about her room number. The nurse informed him she was in a VIP suite.

“Great choice! People who love pie are always so sweet. That’s you, Emily.” Michael grinned.

Upon seeing the mess, Michael swiftly grabbed some tissues for Emily. Then, he shot a look at Alexander and joked, “Alexander, what are you doing? You’re practically massacring that orange. You got juice all over Emily.”

Emily watched their banter and forced a laugh.

Emily gave a faint smile. “No problem.” 

In fact, she was pretty good at Tic–Tac–Toe, but it had been ages since she last played. 

Once Emily mentioned the game, Alexander stopped bickering
