As for Calverts‘ absence, everyone seemed to have grown accustomed to it. As the heir of a prominent family, he naturally didn’t have much time to spare. His brief visit was enough, and the Turner couple didn’t think much of it.

Dexter and Lorelei had been waiting at home, hoping their daughter would bring good news, but instead, they received a summons from the police station. 

Upon learning that Samantha had taken the initiative to report and ended up getting herself sent to detention, Dexter’s face darkened instantly. 

“Is this what you call a good daughter? You brag about how capable she is, yet she ends up doing something so foolish.” Dexter’s expression darkened considerably. Over the years, no one from the Moreno family had ever set foot in a police station, and now the first to do so was his own daughter, and in such a foolish manner. 

Lorelei had never expected that her daughter, who confidently assured them she could report her adopted sister and get her arrested, would end up getting herself arrested instead. 

For a moment, she also looked a little embarrassed. 

With the family’s company already struggling, she felt like she had lost her place among her friends. If they found out her daughter had been arrested and sent to detention, she didn’t know where she had to hide her face. 

After a while, Lorelei slowly said, “Could the police have made a mistake?” 

“That’s the Riverstone police station. It’s absolutely fair and just. You’d rather doubt the police’s judgment than admit that your daughter is so stupid?” Dexter slumped onto the sofa, his face filled with regret. 

If he had known that Samantha was so useless, he would never have allowed her to report it to the police. 

Now that the verdict was out, it meant that Jewel had already appeared. The Moreno family had really offended her. They had to think about what the company should do. 

“Dexter, since Samantha said she has a solution, why don’t we delay for two more days and see what happens when she comes out…” Lorelei spoke cautiously. 

Dexter let out a long sigh. “That’s all we can do now.” 

At this critical moment, no matter how thick–skinned he was, he was too embarrassed to beg Jewel. 

At the company meeting of Shadow Ventures. 

“Mr. Mallin, the partners we’ve been negotiating with recently have repeatedly been taken by the Snider Group. How should we address this?” The first to speak was the manager of investment department, David Johnson.

Sitting in the middle, William’s expression was serious, but he was contemplating what Calvert was really up to. With such ruthless tactics against Ash’s business, he wondered if they were about to break up. 

“Mr. Mallin, are you listening?” David was somewhat displeased. All the managers were anxious, yet the chairman seemed lost in thought, not saying a single word. 

William snapped back to attention, his mature and composed face showing no trace of anxiety. With Ash here, there was nothing that couldn’t be resolved 

“During this period, aside from that plot of land in the city, the company will pause the expansion of new ventures. Don’t go head–to–head with the Snider Group. Focus on gathering strength first.” His voice was calm yet carried a tone that commanded respect and trust. 

After the meeting, William reported the highlights of the meeting to Ash. Everything depended on her instructions.
