Chapter 309Â
Aurelia thought for a moment and said, “It might be tough, but it’s not totally hopeless.”Â
“So you’re saying Cassian’s still in the game, huh?” Mia shot back.Â
That was exactly what Aurelia meant. Mia started cursing under her breath, clearly pissed off. “Cassian’s a real pain to take down!” Mia grumbled.Â
Just as they finished venting, Aurelia got word. Rumor had it that HelixTech’s financial mess was suddenly sorted out. Aurelia was totally stunned.Â
‘Did Cassian strike again?‘ she wondered. ‘If that’s true, he’s really thick–skulled. Is a guy really that helpless when it comes to his first love?‘ Aurelia mused.Â
She respected it, but honestly, she just didn’t get it. Aurelia wondered if this was what true love truly looked like.Â
Compared to Cassian’s feelings, her seven years suddenly felt like nothing. Of course, all this was just Aurelia’s guess. Only the people involved really knew what was going on.Â
She was just catching up on the gossip for a moment; she didn’t have time to dwell on it. All week, she’d been glued to the Mythic Realm’s beta test stats.Â
When she saw the results were way better than expected, Aurelia could finally relax. She finally slept well, and early the next morning, headed out on a business trip to Grendel City.Â
Miranda had booked her on the earliest flight, but Aurelia had barely settled into the VIP lounge when she suddenly bumped into Tessa and her companions.Â
Miranda muttered in frustration, “Ugh, what a jinx. Should’ve checked the weather before heading out.”Â
Aurelia just shrugged it off. “What can you do? It’s not like I own the airline.”Â
Miranda shot back, “Even if you did, you couldn’t just kick them out.”Â
Aurelia let out a soft laugh. “Then just ignore them. You have to accept that there are people you can’t stand in this world.”Â
Still, Miranda couldn’t just let it go; she kept whispering to Aurelia, “What are they even doing in Grendel City?”Â
Aurelia figured, “Probably heading to the Grendel City Stock Exchange.”Â
After all, HelixTech was preparing for an IPO, and the outcome was expected to be announced the following day. And Aurelia was headed to the stock exchange for her own business trip too. No wonder they crossed paths.Â
Miranda grumbled, “You don’t think HelixTech’s actually gonna get listed, do you?”Â
Aurelia shrugged, “Guess we’ll find out tomorrow.”Â
When Tessa and her companions walked in, Karlie was the first to spot Aurelia. She shot Aurelia a sideways glance, gave a little sneer, and let out a dismissive snort; she couldn’t hide her contempt.Â
Then she hurried after Tessa, heading over to the other side of the lounge to wait for their flight.Â
Tessa was quietly replying to a message on her phone. Karlie thought she was texting Cassian and tried to sneak a look, but saw she was actually replying to Jasper instead.Â

Jasper had messaged her last night; Tessa saw it then, but chose not to reply. She’d been leaving all his messages on read lately.Â
Tessa was, in truth, still annoyed that Jasper had wanted to withdraw from the company. After she gave him the cold shoulder, Jasper made no further attempt to reach out.Â
But he did message her on WhatsApp, asking about HelixTech. He also kept hinting at backing out of the company, but Tessa just ignored him. Now that she had things under control, she finally replied to Jasper at her own pace.Â

Jasper knew there was no way he could back out now, so all he could do was pin his hopes on Tessa. If HelixTech actually got listed, at least he’d have something to say to Steven.Â
Tessa messaged back, [Don’t worry. I consider you a friend and would never betray you. I stopped you from selling your shares because I wanted to give you a real advantage. After being pushed out of EverMass Group, plenty of people are simply waiting for you to fail.Â
[Once HelixTech goes public, you’ll be one of its original shareholders. The returns will far surpass anything you earned at EverMass Group, and you’ll have the means to reclaim EverMass and prove your worth to your father!]Â
Jasper saw her message right away. He wanted to say something, but honestly, he had no idea what to say.Â
Even though Tessa sounded so confident, Jasper still felt uneasy inside. That uneasiness was a shadow left by all the failures he’d been through.Â
From AeroMind, to the port project, and then Dreamscape. Every time, he ended up crashing and burning right alongside Tessa. He’d lost all his confidence a long time ago.Â
A fit of coughing from inside the ward snapped Jasper out of his thoughts. In the end, he just put his phone away replying and walked into the ward.Â
“Dad, have some water,” Jasper said, pouring a cup for Steven.Â

But Steven refused the water, coughed for a while, then finally caught his breath and asked, “So? Did she agree to let you sell your shares?”Â
Jasper just stayed silent. Steven smacked the bedrail hard. “It’s over! It’s all over!”Â
His shouting set off another fit of violent coughing, leaving him gasping for air. His face went ghostly pale. Jasper, alarmed. quickly pressed the call button for help.Â
When Aurelia landed in Veyport, Darren’s driver was already waiting for her at the arrivals gate. She’d told Darren there was really no need to go through all that trouble, but he did it anyway.Â
Honestly, Aurelia found it rather troublesome. As Aurelia, Walter, and Miranda left the airport in their car, they drove right past Tessa.Â
Tessa kept her expression cool, her eyes icy. Karlie was practically fuming with jealousy when she saw that Aurelia not only had a driver waiting for her, but was riding in such a fancy car. “Seriously, how does Aurelia even know people in Veyport?”Â
Tessa lowered her gaze, not answering right away. She was feeling pretty frustrated herself.Â
Tessa just couldn’t wrap her head around why Darren, such a big shot in Grendel City, was so into Aurelia.Â
When it came to guys, she always got her way; nobody could resist her. If she set her sights on a man, he was basically hers.Â
Back when she was after Gideon, it might’ve seemed like it didn’t work out, but he never straight–up rejected her. She only ditched him because she saw Gold Gauntlet was a lost cause, so she jumped ship to Cassian instead.Â

But now, she couldn’t help but notice that more and more high–quality men were getting interested in Aurelia. Liam’s into her, Wade too. And now even Darren’s got his eye on her.Â
At least, Tessa consoled herself, Cassian still treated her just like he always had.Â
“The car’s here. Let’s get in,” Tessa said, dodging Karlie’s question.Â
Once they got in the car, Karlie suddenly remembered and asked, “You think Cassian’s gonna make it back today?”Â
“He should. It’s such an important day, he’ll definitely be here,” Tessa replied.Â
Karlie thought so too. After all, Karlie had seen firsthand just how much Cassian doted on Tessa, and honestly, she couldn’t help but feel jealous every time.Â
She laughed at herself, “Why am I even asking? Cassian’s crazy about you; he’ll definitely show up!”Â
This time, Tessa didn’t say anything. Her emotions were complicated.Â
Karlie couldn’t stop talking, her voice buzzing nonstop. “Hey, do you think Cassian’s gonna give you a huge surprise? Like, the second you get the news that HelixTech made it, he drops to one knee and pops the question?Â
“Ugh, just imagining it is so romantic!” Karlie was in excitement.Â
Tessa, for once, didn’t just let it slide. “You’re imagining things. Honoria Capital’s in trouble, and he’s been stuck overseas handling the mess. Trust me, he’s got way bigger things to worry about than planning some romantic surprise.”Â
“Hey, you never know! Come on, Tessa, have a little faith in him!” Karlie nudged Tessa playfully.Â
Tessa believed he would show up, but after that, he would no longer matter to her.Â
