Chapter 324 

Tessa had no idea how she ended up back at the Rowe residence. 

It felt like she’d gone through hell and back, but there was no relief, no sense of survival. 

She still felt suffocated by everything. 

Daniel was back, sitting on the couch, watching the news. 

The news was reporting on Aurelia’s interview just outside Ashmont University.

She said she’d accepted an offer from Whitvale School of Management and was planning to start a full–time MBA program next spring. 

She also mentioned that she’d be ringing the opening bell at the Grendel City Stock Exchange next week. 

And she said that she’d rather have cold, hard cash than true love. 

Daniel was so engrossed in the news that he didn’t even notice that Tessa had come back. 

After Aurelia’s interview, the reporter jumped straight into the scandal where Tessa was accused of bribing a famous business school professor and using underhanded methods to snag her PhD. 

The report even threw in some cozy shots of the two together. 

Even though the media slapped a mosaic over their faces, anyone familiar with Tessa could recognize her in a heartbeat. 

Daniel’s brow furrowed slightly. 

The next second, Tessa snatched up a vase and hurled it at the TV with all her strength. 

Half the widescreen instantly went dark. 

But the news kept blaring from the speakers, relentless as ever. 

The screen popped up with Tessa and Jonathan’s chat window. 

The bits they showed were supposed to be the tame ones, but they were still pretty explicit. 

Tessa messaged Jonathan: [Don’t forget to give your wife some sleeping pills tonight. I want to do it with you in your bed, with her sleeping right next to us. That’s what makes it thrilling.] 

Jonathan replied: [Baby, you really know how to have fun.] 

In the next chat screenshot, Jonathan revealed that his wife was pregnant. 

Tessa went off the rails with jealousy, accusing Jonathan of cheating on her with his own wife. 

She even demanded that Jonathan get rid of the baby. 

That was just downright cruel. 

All of this was evidence that Jonathan’s wife had collected behind the scenes. 

She even handed over evidence to the court, proving the varying harm she’d gone through, and how she was left unable to have kids ever again after the miscarriage.

Chapter 324 

Tessa and Jonathan’s twisted behavior counted as major crimes around here, and the cops were already on it, ready to throw 

the book at them. 

The news also said that Jonathan had already been taken in by the cops, and the case was still moving forward. 

Now that Tessa was back in Grendel City, the local authorities were teaming up with the national legal system to go after her. 

100. 100. 

Tessa collapsed to the floor, her body hitting the ground with a heavy thud. 

Her face wasn’t just pale anymore, but a sickly, sallow gray. 

‘It’s over. Everything’s over, Tessa thought. 

Daniel came over and helped Tessa to her feet. He called her a couple of times, but she didn’t respond. 

Just as Daniel was starting to worry, Karlie came crashing into the Rowe residence, totally panicked. 

“Tessa, Aunt Alina, something terrible happened. The cops just took Preston and Mom away,” Karlie cried. 

She was so freaked out that she was sobbing and shouting at the same time, trembling all over. 

As she was staggering, she even managed to trip over nothing and went sprawling right on the floor. 

She was a complete wreck. 

Seeing that Alina wasn’t there, Karlie turned to Daniel. “Uncle Daniel, please, you have to help my mom and Preston!” 

Daniel frowned. “What happened?” 

Karlie was so panicked she could barely get her words out. She was rambling incoherently, her thoughts all over the place. 

Daniel had to concentrate hard just to piece together what she was trying to say. 

Preston was facing charges for embezzlement and bribery, and he’d left the company bleeding money. 

Rumor had it the numbers were off the charts, and the case was insanely serious. He was looking at a minimum of ten years, maybe even life behind bars. 

And as for Vanessa, things were even uglier. 

She was charged with attempted murder, and not just once. 

She could be facing life behind bars or even the death penalty. 

Daniel froze, utterly shocked. 

“What did you all do?” Daniel demanded. 

‘I was only gone on a business trip. How did everything fall apart so fast?‘ Daniel wondered. 

Karlie was inconsolable, desperately pleading with Daniel again and again to save Vanessa and Preston. 

Daniel was at his wits‘ end, totally lost, and with no idea where to even start. 

Just as things were spiraling out of control, the doorbell rang. 

The maid rushed to open the door.

Chapter 324 

When she came back a moment later, her face had gone ghostly white. 

Right behind her were four police officers in uniform. 

“Where’s Alina Rowe?” one of the officers asked. 

Aurelia only heard about the whole Rowe family fiasco the next day, when she went to take care of some paperwork at the government office. 

Wade told her that Daniel had already been suspended and was busy filing a written report to the higher–ups and the disciplinary board. 

Honestly, it was hard not to feel a little sorry for how far things had fallen. 

The whole finance scene couldn’t stop talking about it. 

Everyone was dying to know how Cassian was going to break things off with the Rowe family this time. 

Mia was busy filming, but she couldn’t stop following the scandal, refreshing Honoria Capital’s website nonstop for any juicy updates. 

But by noon, neither Honoria Capital nor Cassian had released any statement. 

Cassian hadn’t broken things off with the Rowe family, and the engagement was still on. 

Meanwhile, Honoria Capital’s stock price plummeted, hitting rock bottom. 

Mia mocked the Rowe family, saying they were basically living in a courtroom drama, then asked Aurelia, “Is Cassian really that hard–headed? Did the Rowe family save his sorry ass or something? Is he really going to ride this train off a cliff with them?” 

Aurelia was just as clueless. 

While Aurelia was still puzzled, Miranda popped in to say someone was here to see her. 

It was Jasper. 

Since Steven had asked, Aurelia decided to give Jasper a chance and agreed to meet him. 

It had only been a couple of weeks, but Jasper looked noticeably thinner. 

His eyes had lost their spark, and when he saw Aurelia, he was all timid and awkward. There wasn’t a trace of his old cockiness left. 

Aurelia kept it professional, asking, “So, what brings you here?” 

Jasper stammered, finally managing to relay Steven’s last words. 

Even at the very end, Steven was still worried about Jasper. 

He decided to scrap the 15–million–dollar trust fund he’d planned for Jasper and put the money into EverMass Group instead, hoping to set Jasper up with a way to survive. 

Of course, Steven made it clear. Jasper would get the dividends, but he’d have zero say in how the company was run. 

He wasn’t allowed to cash out his stake, either.
