Chapter 325Â
“Bullshit!” Mia snapped over the phone, cursing up a storm.Â
She was anything but ladylike right now.Â
“Don’t go gaslighting yourself,” Mia said.Â
Aurelia couldn’t help but laugh. “Do you really think I’d gaslight myself?”Â
“He might be a competent boss, I’ll give him that. I did learn a lot from him,” Aurelia admitted.Â
“But when it comes to feelings, even if he got down on his knees and busted his head open, he still did me wrong.”Â
Mia dramatically clutched her chest. “I’m glad that you’re thinking straight.”Â
Then she started cursing at Miranda again. “That fool still hasn’t lost her illusions about men. Next time I see her, I’m definitely going to give her a good brainwashing.”Â

Aurelia warned her, “Go easy on her. She’s totally smitten with her boyfriend right now. Don’t mess with her head so much that she dumps him.”Â
Just as Aurelia wrapped up her chat with Mia, she got a call from the cops. There was a new lead in the car accident case.Â
She canceled her meeting and hurried over to the police station, only to run smack into Tessa.Â
Of all people to run into, it had to be her.Â
Tessa looked even more haggard than before. Her former glamour was nowhere to be seen.Â
All that remained was her disheveled hair and the tired bags under her eyes.Â
Tessa hadn’t expected to run into Aurelia here.Â
She flinched, instinctively turning her head to avoid Aurelia altogether.Â
She looked nervous and withdrawn, clearly uncomfortable.Â
She even sped up, practically rushing into the police station like she couldn’t get away fast enough.Â
Aurelia followed her inside.Â
The cop in charge told Aurelia that the driver who’d taken the fall had flipped and confessed everything. He was hired byÂ
Vanessa to commit murder.Â
Even though Vanessa was still stubbornly denying it, the evidence was rock solid. She was about to face serious legal consequences.Â
The cop also revealed that Vanessa hadn’t stopped after her first two crimes. She’d actually gone and committed a third one.Â
Her actions were so outrageous that she could end up getting the harshest possible sentence.Â
Aurelia was floored. “A third one? When?”Â
“Just last week. The victim was Mr. Benjamin Locke,” the cop said.Â
Aurelia’s grip on the case file tightened, her gaze instantly frosted over.Â

Chapter 325Â
Vanessa really had the nerve to go after Mr. Locke, Aurelia seethed inwardly. And he hasn’t breathed a word about itÂ
“Luckily, Mr. Locke wasn’t in the car. He dodged a bullet. But Vanessa messed up, and that slip gave us the hard evidence we needed.Â
“We brought the driver who’d flipped back in for another round of questioning, and that finally made the case airtight. If not for that, Vanessa might’ve actually gotten away with it,” the cop explained.Â
All Aurelia wanted was for the culprit to face the harshest punishment possible.Â
Meanwhile, Tessa met Vanessa first and relayed Alina’s message to her.Â
Alina assured Vanessa that she wouldn’t abandon Vanessa, but asked her to avoid saying anything she shouldn’t.Â
If not, Preston would be beyond saving.Â
Vanessa cared most about her two children, so for Preston’s sake, she agreed to the condition.Â
As long as Alina was safe, Vanessa was convinced she’d figure out a way to spring them sooner or later.Â
After seeing Vanessa, Tessa went to see Alina and let her know that Vanessa had been told to keep her mouth shut and not say anything she shouldn’t.Â
Alina’s nerves finally eased up a little, but she was still far from feeling secure.Â
Tessa and Alina were talking things through. Tessa said, “As long as Aunt Vanessa doesn’t turn you in, all you’ve got hanging over you is a bribery charge. Even if they decide to press it, it won’t be a big deal.”Â
“What about your dad? How’s he holding up?” Alina asked.Â
“He’s been suspended and is under investigation. He’s busy writing up a report,” Tessa replied.Â
Alina’s gaze turned cold as she asked, “And what about Cassian? What’s he up to?”Â
“Cassian has been reaching out to people, trying to find someone who can help.”Â
Alina’s expression softened a bit. “I’m glad to hear he’s not just ignoring things. It seems like Cassian’s really looking out for you.”Â
Tessa was surprised by that.Â
After everything blew up, she was sure Cassian would do what everyone expected, calling off the engagement and dropping her like a hot potato.Â
But he didn’t.Â
He was actually out there busting his ass, trying to bail Alina out.Â
Indeed, as people said, adversity tested loyalty.Â
Alina said, “Back when you couldn’t reach him about the loan sharks, I was pretty mad. I thought he’d break up with you and leave you to deal with it alone, so I had to swallow my pride and borrow money from an old friend.Â
“Thankfully, Cassian stepped up and paid it all back once he found out.”Â
“Actually, something happened to me at the engagement party. I was… violated,” Tessa admitted, her knuckles white as she clenched her hands, face drained of color.Â
“Cassian knew about it, but he never brought it up. He just told me to let it go and focus on the future.”Â

Chapter 325Â
Alina was completely floored.Â
Alina had asked Tessa about it back then, but Tessa denied that anything had happened, so Alina figured nothing had happened.Â
She never imagined the truth was like this.Â
What really stunned her was that Cassian knew about what had happened, but he didn’t grow distant from Tessa.Â
He treated her the same as he always had, just as kind and caring as ever.Â
Only someone who truly, genuinely cared could pull something like that off.Â
“Then what about this time? What did he say about you and Jonathan?” Alina asked, still worried.Â
Tessa pressed her lips together, guilt written all over her face. “Cassian said everyone has a past, and it’s not his place to judge. The moment he decided to get engaged to me, he told himself he’d accept all of me–good, bad, past, present, everything.”Â
If she’d known back then that she’d one day meet someone who loved her this much, she would have stayed true to herself, never crossed any lines, and waited for him with a clear conscience.Â
“Cassian… is really the kind of guy one wants to spend one’s whole life with,” Alina said, genuinely moved.Â
She told Tessa, “Promise me you won’t ever let Cassian down again. Hold on to him, he’s worth it.”Â
Tessa nodded seriously. “I will.”Â
“With Cassian looking out for you, I can finally breathe a little easier,” Alina said, feeling a bit more at ease.Â
But Tessa was still anxious. “Honoria Capital has been dragged down because of me, and the stock price tanked. I’m worried it’ll go bankrupt just like Ascend Group did. If that happens, Cassian will lose everything.”Â
Alina waved it off. “Even if Honoria Capital bites the dust, there’s still the Locke Group. That’s the big one. Don’t forget. Cassian is Benjamin’s only son. As long as the Locke Group is around, Cassian will always have something to fall back on.Â
“And as for Benjamin, whether he accepts you or not doesn’t matter. He’s going to kick the bucket sooner or later anyway.”Â
Of course, Alina was still kicking herself over it.Â
She regretted that Vanessa had blown it and failed to kill Benjamin.Â
If Vanessa had succeeded, the Locke Group would already be in Cassian’s hands, and getting herself, Vanessa, and Preston out of trouble would’ve been way easier.Â
When Aurelia finished up with the cops and stepped outside, she saw Cassian had just arrived.Â
