Chapter 339 Use the Front Door 

There were two reasons behind her reluctance. One was her aversion to going to kindergarten, and the other was that Gloria had once pinched and punched her. 

Ethan picked up on Sophia’s mood. Leaning in closer, he murmured, “Not keen on school?” 

Sophia shook her head in a hurry. “No! All my classmates are super into me.” 

Ethan let out a sigh of relief. 

“That’s a relief then,” he said, giving her head a gentle ruffle. 

After making sure Sophia was all snug under the blankets, Ethan got up and made his exit from the bedroom. 

Left alone, Sophia buried herself deeper into the covers, her eyes welling up with silent tears. 

The kids at kindergarten were the furthest thing from friendly. They wouldn’t even give her the time of day, let alone play with her.

Just as he was about to step out, Alexander spoke up, “Good night, Ryan.” 

Ryan didn’t look back but grunted in acknowledgement. 

As Ryan reached the threshold, Alexander called out one last time, “Don’t forget to shut the door behind you.” 

Emily had a hunch that Ryan wouldn’t follow Alexander’s advice.

But Alexander was in his own world of elation. He hoisted her up in his arms and twirled her around, shouting at the top of his lungs, “Yes! I’m officially welcome through the front door!”

Ryan continued to work on her shoulders, his touch gentle but his expression still stony. 

Looking at her reflection, he said, “Aaron’s a great guy, too. But when it comes to dealing with Ethan, Alexander’s status gives him an edge. Still, Alexander’s fine for a relationship, but Aaron’s the one you’d take home to Mom.” 

Chloe let out a hearty laugh. “You’ve really got it all figured out, don’t you?” 

Ryan let out a soft sigh. “It just makes you wonder why a woman can’t have the best of both worlds.”
