TONY’S POV

Ever since my mother asked me to get the hair from Marco I wondered how I was going to go about it.

Marco just ran off that day after he fell into the fountain, and I heard he was sent home afterward.

I hadn’t spoken to him since, nor had I seen him much either. I saw him twice this past week but from a distance. Once when I was changing classes to go for another lesson and another was when we were being picked up to go home when school ended.

I couldn’t approach him at either of those times. I thought perhaps he was mad at me. If it was then I would have trouble getting the hair my mother had asked for. I know she had told me that it wasn’t an issue if I couldn’t do it. However, I wanted to try to help her and Marco. Since she said getting a hair from him would help. Though I didn’t understand how a simple hair would help my mother seemed sure of it.

It was late on a Thursday afternoon and it was currently study time. I had finished using the bathroom near my classroom and was washing my hands.

As I walked out of the bathroom and into the hallway, suddenly I felt something tap against me. I turned around and found Marco standing in the hallway near the bathroom.

Marco!I said his name surprised to see him again. I was also surprised that he was the one calling me. What are you doing here?”

Can we talk?he asked me.

I nodded my head as I looked at him with a confused expression.

Let’s go to the rooftop,” he said to me and I agreed,

I followed him to the rooftop of the school building and went to the fence/railings to prevent students from falling off.

I’m sorry about what happened that time when you fell in the fountain, you left without another word and then I heard you had to go home,I apologized to him.

No, it wasn’t your fault,he said to me. I went after that frisbee without thinking.”

Are you okay? Your eyes turned really red that day,I asked him.

Yeah, I’m fine,he answered nervously.

Well then i

Tony, I really shouldn’t be talking to you,he said nervously. My mum would be so angry.”

I know,I told him. But you called me.I reminded him that he was the one who had pulled me to talk to him.

I just wanted to talk to you since we didn’t talk the last time. I immediately went home he explained.

The events of that afternoon then replayed in my mind. I then recalled something that had been bothering me since then.

I saw bruises on the chest the last timeDid your mum do that to you?I asked him hoping he would answer,

A look of horror appeared in his eyes. They then averted their eyes to the floor and he wrapped his arm around himself squeezing it. He was uncomfortable answering.

Does Dad know about this?I asked him. Why didn’t Dad notice? I wondered.

No, mum makes sure he never sees or that I get close to him when she’s not with me,”

he told me.

My eyes widened in horror o wasn’t surprised that he didn’t know but I expected more

from him.

Marco, my mother can help you I told him and he can help you,I told him trying to

convince him.

My mother had told me to weith steal or take it with me to steal or take the hair from him, however, maybe I didn’t have to forcibly take it from him. Maybe I can convince him to trust me and give the hairs to me.

My mum kicked you and your mother kicked you out of the house how will you be able to help? Dad doesn’t believe you, either.”

We’re doing just fine actually now,I told him. My mum has a friend called Louis, who has been helping us a lot I think we really can help you!I desperately tried to convince him.

His eyes looked into mine as he seemed to think about it.

How can you help me?he asked me.

I just need you to give me some of your hair. Just a few strands,I explained.

My hair?he asked in horror.

I nodded my head in response.

His hands went to his black hair and he nervously touched it.

No, Tony,” he said. I can’t do it.”

Why not?I asked him.

I can’t say,he refused to answer. I had a strong feeling it had something to do with his secret. Like his allergic reaction to the water last time.

I worriedly looked at him. Are you worried about your mother finding out?I asked him.

I shouldn’t have come talk to you,he said to me and turned as he was leaving.

Wait, Marco listen to me,I said.

My mum said I couldntbrrust you because you might try to manipulate me,Marco said to me.

But what if your mum is lying to you? She is already hurting you so how do you know she’s not lying to you?I asked him.

Marco shrugged his head. I don’t know,he said agitated.

I wasn’t convincing him. He then began to walk away.

Marco, I know you’re scared, but do you want to live like this forever?

Is your secret worth that much, you always suffering?”

He ignored me and continued walking.

What if your mum does worse things to you? I really do think my mother and Louis can help you,I tried to convince him to talk to me.

Marco then stopped in his tracks before he turned around and looked back at me. He had a conflicted expression on his face.

I really enjoyed talking to you about Formula One. I wish we could always do it,” I said again as a last attempt to get him to agree to help me.

He then slowly walked towards me again. His blue met mine and we stared at each

other for a moment.

I enjoyed talking to you too,he told me. He then brought a hand to his hair and pulled at it. Done strands that were already loose came out. He then gave me the strands. You promise your mum can help me? Are you sure?he asked worriedly.

I promise that we can trust my mum,I told him. She will be super happy to help.”

He smiled at me. Good, I hope your mum succeeds,he said.

Me too,I said as I put the hairs in a handkerchief and into my pocket.

You won’t tell your mum any of this right?I asked him,

My mum would kill me if I told her I said a simple hito you. I can never tell her,he assured me.

We would make really good brothers,” he then said before he walked away returning to his class.

Would?I thought to myself as I watched him leave. What did he mean by that?

JASMINES POV

I listened as Louis explained how he’d basically convinced Natco to hand him the hair. I was shocked at what I was hearing.

Was he a negotiator? I was impressed considering Marco had been warned not to speak with Tony and

So the two of you have really become friends, huh?I asked him in surprise.

Tony nodded his head. Was it that easy for kids to make friends with each other, was it?

Did he tell you anything about the hair?I asked him.

No he just told me he couldn’t tell me because his mum didn’t allow him. he was worried,Louis explained.

I looked at the strands of jet black hair Tony had collected. He really did it I thought to myself. I then knelt till I was eye level, Tony.

I told you there was no pressure and you still somehow managed to get it. Thank you,” I said to him and hugged him.

You’re welcome. You’ll be able to help him now right?Tony asked. He’s really scared of his mother finding out and he said Dad doesn’t know either.”

Of course,” I assured him. I’ll make sure his mother is in trouble for everything she’s

done to him and to us.”

As Tony’s green eyes met mine with hopefulness. I found his concern for Marco touching.

This hair was the final nail in the coffin for Diana once I can prove there was something odd about her and her son. And it was all thanks to Tony. I would have this sent to the lab as soon as possible. The first hearing was in a week’s time. Hopefully, the results from the lab would be ready by then.

Shall we go have dinner?I then asked him.

Yes,” he agreed.
