CHAPTER FIXED 1Â
KEITH’S POVÂ
After I was done showering and changing I returned to the main room where I found Diana had left the bed and was nowhere in sight. No doubt she went to check on Marco and help him get ready for school as usual.Â
I finished packing up my bag with the things I needed for work when Diana soonÂ
returned.Â
She gave me a wide smile as she approached me. I found myself forcing a smile at her.Â
“Well, I’m off now. Make sure to rest and not overexert yourself. I have maids ready to tend to your every need so if you feel unwell at any point tell them” I told her. With her being pregnant I wanted her to be extra careful and take it easy.Â
“I’ll see you later then,” I said to her.Â
“Have a good day at work, honey,” she said to me sweetly.Â
She then stepped forward and kissed me, catching me off guard. I kissed her back quickly before I then gently pulled her away from me.Â
“Okay, I’m going to be late,” I said to her.Â
“And Keith,” she then said before I could turn away.Â
“Yes?” I asked as she looked at me with her deep brown eyes.Â
“I’ve been meaning to ask you this but wasn’t sure how. I’m aware you’re going to move forward with your divorce from Jasmine but you want joint custody. She has a job now. I think she can take care of the child just fine by herself. Must you fight for joint custody?” she asked me.Â
My face darkened annoyed by her question before I made it expressionless again. Don’t get angry, stay calm. Was she asking me to abandon my kid? I thought to myself.Â
“I’m not doing this for that reason. Whether or not she is capable of taking care of Anthony on her own is irrelevant. I’m his father and always will be. I don’t want to end things on loose ends. The right thing is to continue to be present and help raise him. Give time to all my children equally,” I explained to her as she just stared at me blankly.Â

“I see you’re so kind and thoughtful,” she told me and smiled at me softly. “I was justÂ
asking anyway.”Â
“I’m just doing what’s right,” I told her. Only a week remained until the first Court hearing for our divorce. I already knew I was going to win it.Â
I then left the bedroom and made my way to the mansion exit where I found Marco waiting by the entrance foyer. He was having his uniform tie adjusted by Diana’s head maid.Â
“Hello Marco, we’re going together today,” I told him.Â
“Yes, Dad,” he replied.Â
He typically went in his own assigned carbecause we left at different times. He typically left at 7am early and I left a little later at 8. However, today I had a lot of . meetings so I was going a little earlier.Â
Marco and I exited the mansion and got into the car waiting for us. As the car departed there was a moment of silence before I decided to make conversation.Â
“Are you feeling alright now?” I asked him.Â
He turned his head that was facing the window to look at me. “Yes, I am dad,” he answered reassuring me.Â
“Good, I had been worried,” I told him.Â
The other day I was told he had a minor reaction to water and ended up having to be sent home early. I was concerned by the news.Â
Diana told me that luckily they were able to resolve the reaction quickly before his skin could react badly. I felt bad for the boy as I looked at him. Having to be so careful around something normal was hard.Â
When I arrived at the Acland HQI proceeded to have 3 consecutive meetings.Â
“What’s my schedule for the next week?” I asked Edward. “Give me a rundown of all the important meetings.”Â
“Well on Sunday you have to attend the business expo to do your talk on entrepreneurship. Then on Monday we have a routine meeting with the department managers, Tuesday we have to go over reports with the international branch manager. On thursday we have a meeting with the subsidiary companies CEO’s —” Edward listed the meetings.Â

As I stared at him I thought about it and realized that Jasmine and Edward had the same positions. She served as the Carrington boys‘ assistant. She spent that much time with him throughout the day and they lived together?!Â
“-then a meeting with the hotel managers from Arlington City about how to deal with the recent flooding in the area.” Edward finished off.Â
“Okay,” I replied. “And how are the comprehensive finance reports coming along?”Â
When I was done with Edward I began to do paperwork inÂ
my office.Â
I checked my emails and looked at the most recent one I had received. It was from Robert Carrington. Instantly, I knew what it was going to be about. I opened it to see what update he had for me.Â
‘Dear Mr Carrington,Â
I’m terribly sorry to say that I was unable to carry out your request. My father has allowed my brother and your wife to continue working together despite my attempt to end the relationship. We can discuss further if there’s anything else you would like to try to del with this situation.Â
Kind regards,Â
Robert Carrington Jr.‘Â
I sighed once I was done reading it. Looks like Robert Jr. wasn’t so helpful in the end. There was nothing I could do if Robert Snr refused. Of course, I couldn’t use Robert Snr. to do this for me he had no reason to want to work with me. I asked Robert jnr. because it would be easier to talk to someone closer in age to me.Â

On Sunday, I left my estate around mid–morning to go the convention expo centel in the city center, where I would be giving a talk on entrepreneurship to aspiring entrepreneurs.Â
The talk went well and ended around early afternoon. Afterward, I was just tired and aching to go return to the estate. It was a Sunday after all.Â
We passed through the city center and as I looked out the window I saw the boxingÂ
gym.Â
