Chapter 350

Three years later.

Late at night, Miranda picked Aurelia up from Northvale Airport.

In the car on the way to the hotel, Miranda handed Aurelia a preprepared schedule and briefed her on the key points of the Northvale Venture Capital Conference, as well as the relevant instructions from above.

There were a few projects that looked promising.

Aurelia circled them in red and asked Miranda to look into them.

Miranda glanced over the list and saw they were all related to pharmaceuticals, commercial aerospace, and new materials

Miranda couldn’t help but admire Aurelia’s sharp business instincts once again.

After arriving at the hotel, Aurelia took a shower.

She was still jetlagged and couldn’t sleep.

Kyler texted her, asking if she’d arrived.

Aurelia replied that she had.

Kyler felt relieved and gave her a quick update on Ella’s day.

Honestly, Aurelia already knew how things were with Ella, even without Kyler telling her.

After all, she’d hired four professional caregivers to take care of Ella’s meals and daily routines.

Just as Aurelia was about to thank Kyler, there was a knock at the door.

She thought it was Miranda.

But when she opened the door, she found several unfamiliar men standing there.

Ms. Corin, I’m Draco Basso from Fonndar company. Here’s our project proposal. I hope you’ll take a look, one of them said.

Ms. Corin, please check out my proposal, too. I’m the founder of Lynvel company, another man added.

And mine, Ms. Corin,a third chimed in.

And meanother voice joined in.

Having seven or eight men show up at her hotel door in the middle of the night seriously gave her the creeps.

Luckily, the hotel staff heard the commotion and rushed over, keeping the men outside.

A staff member said, Please leave immediately! You’re seriously disturbing our guestsrest.

If you don’t leave, we’ll call the police!”

After a few stern warnings, the men finally left, dragging their feet and looking back the whole way.

The hotel staff kept apologizing to Aurelia, saying they messed up and let those guys show up at her door in the middle of the night.

Sat,

Chapter 350

It was late, so Aurelia didn’t want to make a big deal out of it. She just told them to be more careful in the future and closed the door.

Then she called Miranda and asked her to book her a different hotel.

Miranda was pretty pissed when she heard what happened. Who the hell leaked the news?”

The whole thing about Aurelia coming back for the Northvale Venture Capital Conference had been kept under wraps, just to avoid situations like this.

But there was no way around it. Regal Investment was a legend in the industry, and every startup founder wanted to get Regal Investment on board. They’d go to any lengths to track Aurelia down.

That was why every time Aurelia returned to the country, her itinerary was always kept strictly confidential.

But there were always slipups, like tonight.

Miranda immediately arranged for Aurelia to move to a new hotel that night.

When Aurelia was checking in at the new hotel, she bumped into Liam, who was also there for the Northvale Venture Capital Conference.

The moment Liam spotted Aurelia, he looked like he couldn’t believe his eyes.

Aurelia?he blurted out.

His voice echoed through the quiet lobby, bursting with excitement.

He didn’t even wait for an answer before hurrying over. It is you! I seriously thought I was hallucinating.

When did you get back?

Did you

finish your studies abroad?”

Liam fired off a bunch of questions, but Aurelia just picked one to answer. I’m back for the Northvale Venture Capital Conference, she replied.

Her words made it clear. She still had unfinished study abroad.

Liam felt a bit let down, but he was genuinely happy to see her.

He hadn’t seen Aurelia in three years.

He knew where Aurelia was all along, but he had no right or reason to reach out to her.

That was why this chance encounter felt so precious and surprising to him,

I’m here for the Northvale Venture Capital Conference, too. I can’t believe we ran into each other. What are the odds?Liam couldn’t stop talking, his excitement spilling over. Are you staying at this hotel? Seriously? Me, too.”

Aurelia didn’t answer, just checked the time on her watch.

It was already one in the morning. Not exactly the best time for catching up.

Liam caught on and quickly said, It’s late. You should get some rest. See you tomorrow.”

Aurelia gave a polite nod in response.

As Aurelia turned to leave, she accidentally dropped her room key.

Chapter 350

She was about to bend down and grab it, but Liam was quicker. He picked it up and handed it to her.

Thanks, Aurelia said politely as she took it from him,

Don’t mention it,Liam replied.

Only after Aurelia walked away did Liam finally let his hand fall to his side.

His gaze fell on his slender fingers, where the lingering warmth from her touch remained,

He curled his fingers tightly, as if trying to keep that warmth from fading away,

The Northvale Venture Capital Conference was the largest and most highprofile event in the country, with the highest amount of capital up for grabs.

Every project accepted had been carefully vetted, and with strong government support, the prospects for growth were outstanding.

That was exactly why Aurelia had come back for the conference.

Aurelia showed up at the Venture Capital Conference right on time, thinking that after three years off the radar, she wouldn’t be that wellknown anymore.

She hadn’t expected it at all, but as soon as she set foot in the venue, people started recognizing her.

In no time, a whole crowd flocked to her, all eager to greet and chat her up.

Aurelia had to chat with them for ages, and only when the conference was about to kick off did people finally back off.

Miranda handed Aurelia a glass of water.

Aurelia took a few sips, sighed, and said, Honestly, I thought I’d be invisible here.”

Miranda shook her head. “You seriously have no clue how famous you are.”

She wasn’t kidding.

Regal Investment had been the gold standard in the industry for ages. It was the name everyone looked up to.

Every move Regal Investment made dictated the pace of the entire industry,

Even after three years out of the public eye, Aurelia’s position in the field remained absolutely unshakable.

Honestly, everyone in the business had heard of Aurelia.

As soon as Aurelia sat down, the conference officially kicked off.

The host was a familiar face to Aurelia.

It was Wade, whom she hadn’t seen in years.

Three years had gone by, and he seemed even more mature and grounded now.

When Wade walked into the room, the whole place went quiet for a moment.

Wade’s eyes, usually as deep and calm as a still lake, instantly landed on Aurelia. For a moment, a ripple of emotion broke through that tranquil surface.

He caught her eye and nodded at her.

Chapice di

Caly then did Wase take the stage to address the crowd, announcing the latest policies and unveiling the industry white

Honestly Wade should’ve had his hands full. This conterence was a huge deal

Now he sull managed to make time to see Aurelia.

They didn’t get to chat much, but Wade was the one who took the initiative

Everyone was trying to get his attention

Theyil barely exchanged a few words before Wade was called away again

After that, there wasn’t another chance for them to catch up.

Liam, meswhile, always found a way to hang around Aurelia whenever he got the chance.

Too bad Aurelia was swamped. Everyone wanted a piece of her, so he barely got a word in.

In the end, he hardly got to talk to Aurelia at all.

Midway through the conference, Darren arrived,

After exchanging a few words with Wade, he headed straight over to Aurelia.

Joey came with me. Want to grab dinner together after the conference?Darren asked.

Sure, Aurelia replied with a nod

It had been ages since she’d last seen Joey, With such a rare opportunity, of course, she wasn’t going to say no.

Liam, standing off to the side, was kicking himself for not asking Aurelia to dinner before Darren did.

Someone else had swooped in before he could even make a move,

As his mom always said, You’re so slow, you can’t even get the leftovers while they’re still warm
