Jade left reluctantly in the end.

She thought things might turn out to be good if she humbled herself to get the upper hand, but she did not expect Ash to give her the cold shoulder. 

Jade texted: [Caspian, are you free?] 

In this family, the only person who treated her exceptionally well was Caspian. 

Not long after the message was sent, Caspian called. He sounded a little worried. “Jade, what’s wrong? What happened?” 

“Nothing, I just miss you.” She lowered her voice, and it sounded like she was about to cry. 

She did it on purpose so that Caspian would notice. However, Caspian was not a very sensitive person after all. Coupled with the fact that Jade’s voice was not very clear over the phone, Caspian did not notice the details that she had deliberately “performed“. 

Caspian smiled. “Jade, you are always like a child. Do you miss me? Is it that you miss me or did somebody do you wrong?” 

“No, no. I miss you, that’s all. Caspian, will I always be your sister?” Jade asked carefully. 

These words got Caspian’s attention. “Why are you suddenly saying this? You will always be my sister, Jade. Don’t feel mistreated just because Ash is back. She is her and you are you. You are different.“; 

“Caspian, don’t say that. I am very happy that Ash is back. All these years, I had enjoyed the life that was supposed to be Ash’s. I do not feel wronged. I am just worried that-” 

Her voice softened and she murmured, “I’m just worried that you don’t want me anymore.” 

Caspian had always been fulfilling Jade’s every request since young. Although this sister of his was not related to him by blood, he had always doted on her. 

Now that Jade had said such heart–wrenching words, his heart jerked in pain. He comforted her gently, “I do not care what others think or do, and you will always be my most important and closest sister. I shall spend time with you once I am on leave.” 

“Thanks, Caspian. Talk to you soon.” Jade did not say anything further and hung up the phone. The aggrieved and pitiful look on her face instantly disappeared. 

Jade gripped her phone tightly. Her intricately made face became twisted and ferocious, and she squeezed out vicious words. “Ash, everything that used to belong to me will only be mine forever. We shall see who has the last laugh!” 

Ash was humming a little tune as she sat in the swing chair and swayed back and forth. The bidding day was in a few days. She seemed to be at a disadvantage now, but she had already drawn out a final plan and knew that she would surely obtain that piece of land. 

She would never lose to Calvert. 

[My precious daughter, can we meet again?] 

Her phone dinged as she received a message. It was from Dexter. 

‘Precious daughter?‘ Ash looked at the disgusting way Dexter addressed her and burst into a short laugh. ‘Did he forget what kind of life I had when living with the Moreno family in the past few years? Did he remember how he and Lorelei treated me back then?‘

For fame and fortune, Dexter was willing to bring himself down to beg her. That was something Dexter would do.

It was like humdrum to Ash. Dexter kept coming up with the same old stories and excuses and did not bother to be more creative. She blocked Dexter immediately. 

The jingling messages were giving her a headache. They were worse than spam. 

At Dream Couture, Ash worked overtime and produced another whole lot of designs after being urged by Bailey. 

“Hey, these are the latest drafts. Stop looking for me for the time being,” she warned Bailey. 

Bailey gave her a thumbs up. “You are really something.”
