Wade had originally been headed out west for a business trip, bu he went out of his way to swing by Ashmont. 

And in the end, he just dropped by to say congrats and then left. 

It was such a hassle.

He’d never seen Wade go out of his way for something so impulsive before.

Chloe seemed more mature than before, and she was a lot smoother and knew exactly how to handle herself now. 

Even though Aurelia hadn’t been back to Ashmont much these past few years, she still kept up with what was going on in the city. 

Gideon and Chloe had become a model couple within their circle, deeply in love with each other. 

With Chloe’s dad lending a hand, Gold Gauntlet had successfully weathered the storm and was finally back on track. 

The only regret they seemed to have was that they still didn’t have any kids, even after all these years of marriage. 

Aurelia wasn’t the least bit interested in such things, but Chloe was just as quick to warm up as she always was. 

After greeting Aurelia with Gideon, Chloe stayed behind to chat with her. 

She said Aurelia had become even more beautiful, and that she admired her career success and was happy for her for having found her true love. 

And before long, Chloe was happily bragging about how perfect her own marriage was. 

She kept gushing about how amazing Gideon was to her, and how he figured she was still too young to be a mom, so he didn’t want her rushing into parenthood, and that was why, even after all this time, they still hadn’t had kids. 

Aurelia really wasn’t interested in all that domestic talk. As soon as she got a message from Mia, she quickly said goodbye to Chloe and headed out to meet Mia at the entrance. 

Mia showed up straight from the airport, not even dressed up for the occasion, but she still had that unmistakable celebrity vibe about her.

“Why’d you come all the way here? Weren’t you supposed to be on vacation?” Aurelia asked. 

“Vacations can wait. I wouldn’t miss this for anything. After all, I a co–owner of Regal Investment, you know. I can’t just sit on the sidelines!” Mia grinned. 

Aurelia just let her talk, not really taking it seriously. 

“Did you put on some weight lately?” Aurelia asked out of nowhere. 

Mia put a hand to her heart, pretending to be wounded. “Ouch! that really hurts!” 

Aurelia just shrugged. “You used to be way too skinny. Even a little extra shows on you” 

“Come on, it’s vacation! Of course, I indulged a bit. And let me tell you, those international hotties? Absolute game–changers. You seriously missed out,” Mia teased. 

Aurelia was momentarily at a loss for words. 

Not long after they went inside, Stephen showed up. 

Aurelia went off with him to the VIP room for a private chat. 

Mia just wandered around the party by herself, grabbing some desserts and sipping on some juice. 

She was having a pretty good time. 

But then, a voice that instantly ruined her mood rang out. “What are you doing here?” 

Just the sound of that voice made Mia’s stomach turn. 

Her vomiting of pregnancy was already bad enough, but that disgusting voice pushed her over the edge. She puked on the spot. 

Rowena looked even more disgusted. “Do you have to be so gross? You’re such a mess. No wonder Herbert still keeps you a secret. You’re just not in his league.” 

Mia kept gagging, feeling absolutely uncomfortable. 

Rowena’s nasty attitude just made her mood tank even more. “Yeah, yeah, whatever. You’re the only one who’s good enough for him! You two are a perfect match! Happy now?” 

She rolled her eyes and headed straight for the bathroom. 

Just as she finished freshening up and stepped out, she spotted Herbert and Rowena, the scumbag and his trashy girlfriend, hiding out in a quiet corner, getting way too cozy. 

Rowena was practically glued to Herbert, whining in a voice so fake and sugary it could make anyone cringe. 

“Herbert, I really don’t get why Mia hates me so much. I just tried to talk to her, but she gave me the cold shoulder and threw shade at me, even calling me disgusting. I seriously have no clue what I did to deserve that,” Rowena complained. 

Herbert just shrugged it off. “That’s just her. Ignore her.” 

“I’ve been trying to patch things up with Mia, but she never gives me a chance. I honestly don’t know what else I can do,” Rowena pouted, her whole vibe just pure victim mode. 

Herbert just brushed it off. “Who cares? She’s not important. Don’t waste your time worrying about what she thinks.”

“Come on, don’t say stuff like that,” Aurelia said, a little concerned after noticing Mia’s mood. 

Mia didn’t want to bring down Aurelia’s big day, so she just smiled and brushed it off. “It’s nothing, just feeling a bit sentimental. Oh, by the way, I heard Cassian’s out. Did you know about that?” 

Aurelia was momentarily stunned. 

She really had no idea. 

Or rather, she hadn’t gone out of her way to find out anything about Cassian these past few years.
