“You can do whatever you want, and it has nothing to do with me As long as Jade does not provoke me, I will not find fault in her. You are a full–fledged adult already. Why can’t you, you know, use more of your brain?” Ash was brutal with her words. 

She then walked into the living room without giving Caspian any chance to respond. 

‘I really wonder what is inside Caspian’s brain. It is not that he is not smart, but when it comes to judging people, it is as if his cerebellum has shriveled.‘ Ash deplored Caspian in her head. 

She found it unbelievable that he could not detect Jade’s clumsy schemes and did not sense anything amiss. 

‘It seems like it is true, that all men in the world are suckers for a girl like Jade! 

“Mom! Let’s go! She has been sent to the hospital!” Ash was sleeping soundly in her room when she heard Caspian shouting something outside. 

She turned and pulled the blanket over her head. However, it was getting more and more noisy. 

In the end, Ash could not take it anymore. She turned on the lights and looked at the time. It was 3.10 a.m. She opened the door angrily and saw Caspian, who was knocking on the doors, one by one. 

She could not hide her anger any longer. She gripped the door handle tightly and gritted her teeth as she glared at Caspian. “What exactly do you want? Do you know what time it is now?. What do you think you are doing?” 

“Jade slit her wrists!” Caspian’s eyes were bloodshot, and he looked especially haggard. 

‘I see. When one wants to court death, they give zero fucks to the ramifications. Ash could see what Jade was trying to do. 

At the hospital, Jade had yet to come out of the operation theate 

Initially, Ash did not plan to come, but she was worried about Brooke’s heart condition, so she followed the latter. 

The entire family was present and was waiting outside the operation theater. 

Ash took a pill out of nowhere and handed it to Brooke. “Mom, this is a tonic good for the heart. Dorothy gave it to me last time. Take it. You are going to be here the whole night, and you should not overstrain yourself.” 

When Brooke heard the news of Jade slitting her wrist, she could feel her heart squeezing hard. After so many years of taking care of Jade, it was impossible for Brooke to not care at all 

Brooke’s face was a little pale, and she did not look energetic at all. She took the small pill and popped it into her mouth. She forced a smile at Ash. “Ash, you are always so thoughtful. I am blessed to have such an attentive daughter like you.” 

“We are a family. It is only right that we take care of each other.” Ash smiled faintly. 

Brooke smiled and sighed. “I do not know what is wrong with Jace. She was not like this in the past. Just today, I told Caspian that she would not hurt herself no matter what. Who knew that this would happen not long after I said that? I do not know what is going on in her head anymore.” 

Brooke sat on the bench and looked at the operation theater, where the red light was still on. 

Ash lowered her eyes. She had an enigmatic expression, though very subtle. Jade’s self–injury was nothing more than a ruse. After she wakes up, she is definitely going to come up with a reason like how she is redundant or feels that she has let us down. No one can come up with such a lousy show but Jade 

Ash stood on one side of Brooke and leaned her back against the white wall. She narrowed her eyes and said softly, “We will
