“Most of them are well–known figures from home and abroad. If we can get licenses to use their artwork on our clothing, it will help boost our brand.” 

The design department had always focused on original work, which was a good path. But constant innovation could burn people out. 

Clothing cycles changed fast, so designs had to keep up. 

When original ideas could not connect smoothly, they needed something to bridge the gap. 

That bridge was license. 

Many famous artists were willing to license their paintings. 

The company could adapt their work and apply it to clothing. 

This allowed for co–branded collections, where both sides benefited. 

Artists liked this approach. It brought them income and raised their public profile. 

“Alright. Let’s go together,” Alice said. 

She checked the time and signed another document. 

But when she reached the last one, she called Davy from Human Resources. 

“This employee reached retirement age on the sixth of this month,” she said calmly. “Why is this employee still working?” 

Davy was already unhappy with her. Now that she was raising issues again, he felt even more irritated. 

Sandy was nearby in the IT department. Hearing the conversation, she stepped out to see what was going

“Hmph. That’s simple,” Sandy said. “It’s handled according to the labor contract.”

“Which is more important,” she asked, “labor law or your employment contract?”

He suddenly felt that the incident concerning Janice would not end so easily. 

This might be one of Alice’s ways of striking back. 

Sandy’s face darkened; she was no fool. 

Alice had a valid point. 

Still, she was not willing to let it go. 

“Well,” Sandy said with a forced smile, “are you planning to take over Human Resources too?” 

Alice understood her meaning.

Oscar was getting a divorce. Because of that, she and Eric had agreed not to act against the Nolan Group for one month. 

Sandy was reminding her of this. 

But Sandy was too shallow; she only wanted to win verbally. 

She forgot what truly mattered when running a company. 

Alice gave a soft laugh. 

“I’ve already said what needed to be said,” she replied. “If you want to handle it, do it. If not, that’s your choice.” 

She put down her pen and left with Daniel. 

Outside the building, Daniel still looked uneasy. 

“Mrs. Nolan,” he said carefully, “didn’t you promise not to interfere with the company affairs?” 

If she went back on that promise now, Ruby could refuse the divorce. 

Then all of Eric’s efforts would be wasted. 

Alice smiled and explained, “I said I wouldn’t fight for Nolan Group again during the cooling–off period, but I still have duties. What needs to be handled, I’ll still handle.” 

It just wouldn’t be like before; she would no longer push every problem to the end.

Alice sat beside Eric and smiled softly. 

“Are you planning to talk to those painters today?” 

She knew most of the international artists. Some are better than others. 

Eric handed her the guest list. 

“That’s not important. I just got news. Your parents will be at the exhibition too.” 

Alice acted like she didn’t hear him. She kept flipping through the booklet. 

She seemed to be studying which patterns would look best on clothing. 

“You used Dunvale’s elements before,” Eric said. “Why not try Braolor’s element this time?” 

He knew people liked bold and unusual styles these days. He had no objections. 

Only then did Alice respond to what he said earlier. 

“Meeting them won’t increase my income,” she said calmly. “It might even ruin my mood. 

“So there’s no need to upset myself over people I don’t want to deal with.” 

Eric understood immediately. 

But seeing how calm she acted made his chest tighten. 

“Daniel,” he said. 

“Huh?” 

“Turn the heater up a bit.” 

The weather had turned cold. 

But he knew the real reason. He wanted Alice to be surrounded by warmth.
