KEITH’S POVIÂ
What–what in the world was happening? I wondered as my eyes shook in fear at the scene before me.Â
It felt like my world was slowly falling apart as I watched as my mansion go up in flames.Â
First Jasmine gets a protective order against me, then I find out everything about Diana had been a complete lie, then Jasmine is attacked, my son is missing. Now my house is on fire. It felt like everberything was going wrong. One by one, everything was falling apart.Â
I noticed the fire was concentrated in the west wing of the mansion but it was soon going to be spread to others.Â
I asked one of the aides in the immediate vicinity to come to me.Â
“How the hell did this happen!?” I asked him.Â
“I don’t know, Sir. The house suddenly erupted in flames about 10 minutes ago,” he explained. “It sounded like explosives went off…”Â
Explosives? My mind immediately went there. I was wondering why they hadn’t contacted me if there was a fire but 10 minutes was understandably a short window.Â
“…The firemen have already been called and are on their way,” the aide finished off.Â
In the next five minutes they arrived and began to put the fire out.Â
All the estate servants gathered in the estate courtyard all watching the mansion in shock. I turned to one if the bodyguards closest to me.Â
“Do a head count of all the employees on the property, and make sure everyone is accounted for,” I ordered him. I didn’t want anyone to be stuck in the building at risk of being in the fire.Â
“Yes, sir.”Â
“Also where are Diana and Marco?” I asked him noticing I couldn’t see them as I looked around at the servants on the estate groundsÂ
“I don’t know, but I’ll go look for them,” he told me.Â
A little while later he returned saying he couldn’t find them. This caused me to worryÂ

as I wondered if they had got stuck in the fire Marcos room was in the east wing….Â
I don’t to ask others to help look for them.Â
Within half an hour, the firemen were luckily able to prevent the house from completely burning up in flames. The fire was contained around the main area where it had started in the west wing. I was relieved at the very least that it wouldn’t spread further.Â
A short while all the guards and aides returned to me with same report.Â
“We cannot find them, sir. They are not here,” they all informed me.Â
Before I could even process the fact they were missing another issue presented itself.Â
Sir, we are done with the head count and there are some missing employees. These are the servants are unaccounted for,” the aide told me as he handed me a paper with written down names.Â
I looked at the names of the missing employees. There were four bodyguards and fiveÂ
maids in total who were unaccounted for.Â
“These are…” I started in realization as I recognized the names.Â
“They are the servants you often assigned to Ms Rockford and the young master Marco,” he confirmed.Â
I rotated the estate bodyguards and maids whenever I assigned them someone. Either myself, Diana or Marco, However, there were always those who tended to be assigned a specific person more than others. And these 7 missing employees were consistently assigned to them except for Diana’s head maid who always tended to her.Â
It was too much of a coincidence that Diana and Marca as well as their servants wereÂ
all missng. My eyes darkened at the realization that they might have runaway.Â
The situation was very telling of what had most likely happened.Â
“Start a deep comprehensive of the entire area. And outside the estate walls as well. I want reports anyone who left or entered the estate within the last few hours.Â
“Yes, sir,” he answered and left.Â
With the house still on fire I wouldn’t be able to see footage from the cameras around the exterior of the mansion to confirm if they had run away so for now this would do.Â
Growing tired and frustrated of the extremely long days I’d been having I waited as I watched the preÂ

The police soon arrived at the estate and I went to speak with them about the situation and telling them I suspected it was foulplay involved. They started their investigation on the fire. Some went then joined the firemen inside the mansion and other began questioning the servants.Â
After another 2 hours of waiting when the firemen had completely put out the fire. The sun had long since set and it was late in the evening. When they left the estate and the police completely took over the scene as they continued to figure out what caused the fire.Â
As all the estate workers and I waited for I for them to finish I continued to receive updates from my bodyguards/aides on the hunt for Diana and Marco.Â
It was another 2 hours, around 10 pm when the police finally concluded their investigation and came to me.Â
“We are ready to share our findings, sir. Please follow us inside,” they said directing me inside my home.Â
I entered the mansion with them and they led me towards the west wing where the fire had been.Â
We entered one of the rooms which barely looked like a room anymore. I recognized this was Marco’s room. Lamps from the police were used to light up the room. The room ceiling was completely blown through and you could see the night sky above. Everything was either completely burnt and black or covered in soot. Smoke still coming out from some of the objects as well as the dying heat. It was the most damaged space in the west wing.Â
“The fire started in this room, sir,” one of them informed me. He was the officer in charge and his name, was Detective Baxley. Unlike the 6 other cops who wore a uniform he wore more casual clothing.Â
“As you suspected, we found strong evidence that suggests that the fire was an act of arson,” Detective baxley explained. One of the other officers handed him a plastic bag which he in turn handed over to me.Â
Taking it in my hands my eyes inspected the object. It was small metal tube that was covered in soot and had heat damage. The top of the tubing, however, was open like a party popper.Â
“Explosives,” Baxley continued. “They were found scattered around the room. We suspect they planted in different areas and then set a time to explode.”Â
I recalled the servant who had told me he heard what sounded like explosives go offÂ

before the fire started.Â
“We suspect this room was the direct target of the fire rather than intending to burn down the whole mansion as the bombs were only found in here. All other rooms gave been searched and deemed safe.Â
Marco’s room was the target. I began to consider why they blew it up.Â
“Mr Ackand do you have cameras around the place. Do you think you could let us see the footage?” he asked me.Â
“Yes,” agreed and we went to the security room. It was near the main entance wing of the mansion so the footage should be available. I had the man who was on security footage duty come to the room as well so we couldÂ
“There-” the detective pointed at the screen which showed footage of a delivery truck leaving the estate about half an hour before the fire started. “From all the camera footage this the only time some left or entered the estate. Can you rewind the footage to just before it drove off and zoom in on the footage please.”Â
The security guard did as the detective asked and zoomed in on the moment he was referring to.Â
The footage showed multiple people entering the back if the truck.Â
“Can youÂ
confirm if these are the missing servants?” Baxley asked me.Â
I looked at all the faces until I focused on one. I recognized was Diana dressed in aÂ
maid’s uniform.Â
“That’s Diana Rockford,” I confirmed. I scanned the other races and recognized her head maid as well.“That’s Marco,” I pointed to a smaller person who was evidently aÂ
child.Â
The missing servants are the ones who helped them escape. The very guards I had ordered to watch over them were on their side.Â
“We need to find out where this truck headed.” the detective said. “We will we’ll be on the lookout for Ms Rockford and the missing servants as well,” he said.Â
The police concluded their findings for the day and said they would contact me in the following days with updates. They also took copies of the security footage as a part of their investigation. They would also look for Diana and the escaped servants who were the main suspects that caused the fire.Â
As I watched them leave I thought to myself. My son was missing, Marco, Diana andÂ

their servants had escaped. But why did Diana take my son? To hurt me after I dumped her? I then recalled the Carrington boy had mentioned that someone was after my family and 1.Â
