Chapter 235 

Everyone was working overtime, getting ready for their departure in half a month. 

Even Chloe wasn’t slacking off. She set up a stretch of barren hills in her spiritual space, and the whole place was covered with ice spikes loaded with viruses. 

She’d collected these back in winter during the battle with the mutant Zombie King, but hadn’t had a chance to use them 

yet. 

The rest of the space was filled with junked cars, construction debris, gravel, and all sorts of scrap. 

Her spiritual space was huge now. Just the mountain area stretched for thousands of miles, and it was packed with all the scrap Chloe had collected. 

Chloe had been scarred by hardship in her previous life. She was always afraid of running out, so she kept hoarding. 

Her spiritual space was loaded with enough supplies to last dozens of lifetimes, and the base had already built a full agricultural production chain. 

Even though, whenever she found something that looked useless, she’d still tuck it away in her spiritual space, thinking she might use it someday. 

The top priority was the newly developed laser cannon from Bluehaven Base. It packed a punch and could wipe out anything in its path. 

Chloe kept the laser cannon front and center in her spiritual space, so if her power ever ran dry during a fight, she could pull it out and unleash hell without missing a beat. 

Just then, the phone rang. It was a call from Bluehaven Base. 

This was the only phone in the whole base, and they’d just gotten it set up yesterday. 

“Hello?” Chloe answered. 

The person on the other end was clearly excited to hear Chloe’s voice. 

“Captain Yates, hi, it’s William,” the voice said. 

“Hey, William,” Chloe replied. 

They’d worked together before, so there was no need for small talk. They just got straight to the point. 

“Here’s the deal,” William said. “Bluehaven Base might not be the strongest overall, but our weapons are top–notch. We want to team up with your base.” 

Chloe raised an eyebrow. “How do you want to work together?” 

William hesitated for a moment before saying, “Bluehaven Base will supply all the weapons for your team. All we ask is that we stick together in battles.” 

Chloe chuckled. “I thought we’d already joined forces. Aren’t we allies?” 

William laughed heartily. “Exactly! Our bases have already teamed up. 

“Oh, and now we’ve got a space–powered human at Bluehaven Base, so getting there won’t be an issue anymore. We should be able to reach Blaze Haven in about three days,” William said.

“Okay,” Chloe replied. 

After hanging up, Chloe let everyone on the list know: no fighting for the next couple of days, just stay at the base and rest

Three days flew by. 

The people on the list were fully Base Truck. 

, standing in the card inside the city walls. Right next to them was a modified 

Frank had spent weeks tinkering with the Base Truck, but now it looked dull and worn–out, a far cry from its former luxury. 

Emily walked around the Base Truck several times, her face full of disdain. 

“Frank, you spent half a month and this is all you managed?” Emily said. 

Emily poked and prodded the Base Truck, looking it over with obvious disdain. She thought, Honestly, it feels like this thing could fall apart if I so much as push it a little. 

“Did you botch the whole thing or what?” Emily said. 

Mindy was just speechless. “If this thing really can’t make it, maybe we should just squeeze into the military trucks at Bluehaven Base?” 

Frank puffed out his cheeks and glared at them. “What do you guys know? I made the Base Truck look old on purpose, so we can keep a low profile. 

“Lakeside is packed with top–tier folks right now. The tallest tree gets chopped down first. We gotta fly under the radar and get rich quietly.” 

With a proud grin, Frank said, “If you don’t believe me, go ahead and try hitting the truck.” 

Evan stepped up first. “I’ll give it a shot.” 

As a strength–powered human, he was the perfect guy to test how tough the Base Truck really was. 

Evan threw a punch at the truck with half his strength, but the Base Truck didn’t even get a scratch. Instead, a third of the force bounced right back, making his fist go numb. 

Evan stared at his tingling fist, totally stunned. 

For his second try, Evan went all out, his fist crashing into the truck with a force that could crush a mountain. The boom was ear–splitting. 

Everyone turned to look. Evan was sent flying back 10 feet, landing hard on the ground. The Base Truck only had a shallow, fist–sized dent where he’d hit it. 

Everyone gasped. 

“Holy crap, Frank, this Base Truck is insane!” Evan blurted out, still in shock. 

He was literally speechless. 

Frank ruffled his short hair with a cocky grin. “Come on, you know who you’re dealing with!” 

Just then, Bell came over with a few guys, each hauling a flatbed cart behind them. There were ten carts in all, every one stacked high with big sacks. 

“Chief, these are all the bread we rushed out,” Bell said, grinning. “Eat just one loaf and you’ll be full all day. They’re packed

with nutrients, and they’ll even help you recover from injuries.” 

“Nice job. Head to the hall and collect your points,” Chloe said. 

With a wave of her hand, Chloe took all the bread into her spiritual 

Mindy looked confused. “Chloe, why are we bringing so much bread?” 

With just a handful of them, they could eat these for years and still not finish them. 

Emily rolled her eyes and joked, “Come on, obviously we’re bringing them to trade.” 

This was the apocalypse, and food was scarce. Chloe cleared out all the super greens from the fields last night. 

After keeping enough for the base’s daily needs, Chloe stashed the rest of the super greens and rye in her spiritual spr 

Mindy suddenly got it, her eyes lighting up. 

With Lakeside crawling with experts, even if they couldn’t snag any energy resources, they could still rake in a fortune just by selling their goods. 

Unfortunately, the heat was brutal right now. Nothing could grow in the fields for months. Otherwise, they’d be able to pull in another crop. 

Chloe turned to the group and called out, “While I’m gone, nobody leaves the base. The mutant plants in the Botanic Gardens could break out and attack anyone 

who steps 

outside.” 

She’d spent ten thousand points from her spiritual space to upgrade the base, so the inside should be safe now. But if they went outside, they’d be on their own. The mutant plants might attack. 

Before leaving, Chloe put Clayton and Joan in charge of the base for now. 

They were both strong enough to keep everyone under control if things got out of hand. 

Renee’s daughter was only three, so she was

Linda’s care. Luckily, they were close, and the little girl didn’t cry. Instead, 

she comforted her mom. 

“Mommy, hurry back, okay?” the little girl said. 

With all the food arrangements sorted, the gates of Blaze Haven swung open, and Frank drove the Base Truck out, moving slowly and steadily. 

The people left behind all looked worried. 

With Chloe around, everyone felt safe. Even ordinary people dared to fight mutant plants. But now, everyone was staying inside, too afraid to go out. 

For a while, the mood at Blaze Haven turned gloomy, and all the laughter and chatter that used to fill the place were gone. 

Luckily, everyone kept doing their jobs, and things stayed calm.
