“Blitz, what’s gotten into you today?” Noah frowned, his brows knitting together in annoyance. 

Blitz gazed toward the spot where the figure had disappeared, letting out a mournful howl. 

‘Chloe, it’s not that I don’t want to save you. But I can’t disobey Noah’s orders, Blitz thought. 

With a powerful turn, Blitz bounded away, vanishing in a few leaps. 

The clothes Hector had tossed aside were instantly torn to shreds by the mutant rats.

Chloe was feeling pretty pleased with herself for stirring up trouble in the east camp when a familiar roar suddenly echoed behind her. 

Her body froze, and without even glancing back, she hurried off. 

She hadn’t even made it ten minutes before she had to stop again, unable to resist rubbing her forehead in exasperation. 

Through clenched teeth, she muttered, “Seriously, they just won’t let me go.” 

Once again, she found herself blocked by a swarm of mutant rats. 

A massive mutant rat lingered at the back, directing the others to attack from behind. They surged forward like a crazed horde, completely out of control. 

But they all crashed into a thick sheet of ice. The impact was so brutal that most of them were killed instantly. 

The mutant rats seemed utterly fearless, ramming the ice barrier in wave after wave until it finally shattered. 

Chloe had no choice but to conjure another ice barrier to hold them off. 

After she went through this over and over, Chloe’s complexion turned slightly pale, a sheen of sweat glistening on her forehead. 

Her stamina was nearly spent, yet the mutant rats kept appearing out of thin air, swarming her in endless waves. 

Not far away, a massive mutant cheetah stood still, carrying two people on its back. 

Hector couldn’t help but laugh. “Hey, it’s that woman again. We’ve run into her twice today.” 

Then he shot Blitz a puzzled look. “Blitz, don’t tell me you’ve got a thing for her?” 

He wagged his index finger in the air, clicking his tongue. “That’s a no–go, you know. Different species and all- 

Before he could finish his nonsense, Blitz, furious, whipped its tail around and flung Hector off, sending him face–first into 

the dirt. 

It took Hector a while to scramble out of the grass, still spitting out dirt. 

“Pili, Blitz, what’s your problem? It was just a joket Seriously, you and your owner are exactly the same. No wonder you’re both such a piece of work,” Hector muttered. 

Noah brushed off Hector’s comment and turned to Blitz with a curious look. “You want to save her?” he asked 

Blitz nodded, then shook its head, clearly torn. 

“Have you met her before?” Noah pressed.

Noah was totally shocked. Blitz had been by his side since he was little, and he knew its personality inside out. Blitz was cold- blooded, heartless, and just loved to kill. 

Seriously? Blitz actually wants to save someone?‘ Noah thought, not believing his own eyes. 

He looked over to a spot a few hundred feet away, where a young girl was barely holding on, surrounded by mutant rats. 

She looked exhausted, but every time a mutant rat hit her ice wall, it would spit blood and die right then and there. 

In less than two minutes, she’d already wiped out over a hundred third–level mutant rats. Even Noah doubted he could take down that many himself. 

As the girl looked like she was about to collapse, Blitz was hopping around nervously, glancing at Noah every so often, clearly waiting for Noah’s signal. 

Just as Noah was about to give the nod, a powerful tornado erupted from the ground, and his mind was blown. 

Hector, standing right next to him, was left utterly speechless, gaping in disbelief. 

“Damn, that woman is seriously badass!” Hector blurted out. 

The tornado sucked in every mutant rat that got too close, and wherever it passed, the ground was splattered with blood. 

Chloe had overdrawn her powers, and a mouthful of blood spilled from her lips. 

Now, all she could do was rely on the supplies she’d stashed away in her spiritual space. 

Not far away, Hector stared in disbelief. “Looks like that girl’s powers are totally spent. Should we go help her?” 

Before he could even finish, Blitz shot out like a cannonball, and Hector was left gaping in shock all over again. 

He pointed at Blitz, tongue–tied. “I–Is it really got a thing for that girl?” 

Noah’s face gave nothing away, but inside, he was just as shocked as Hector. 

Since Blitz started following him, this was the first time the cheetah had ever acted on its own instead of waiting for his command. 

“Let’s go check it out, Noah said. 

Meanwhile, Chloe tapped into the ice she’d stashed from the barren mountains in her spiritual space. Every chunk was razor–sharp, and she unleashed a storm of ice shards, so brutal that even top–tier powered humans would get shredded to pieces. 

But for every wave she killed, another just swarmed in, like there was no end to these mutant rats. 

Chloe bent over, gasping for breath. 

Blitz let out a thunderous roar from nearby. Chloe instantly recognized the sound. It was the same cheetah’s roar she’d heard before. 

Suddenly, the massive mutant cheetah appeared right next to her. The mutant rats, as they’d just run into their worst nightmare, started backing away in fear. 

“Spotty?” Chloe blurted out, surprised. 

Blitz, who’d just made a dramatic entrance, got instantly annoyed at the name. It swung massive rear towarł Chloe.

Chloe was totally confused by Blitz’s roar. Before she could even ask, the big guy turned around again, acting all dramatic. 

Blitz loomed over her, looking down with a cocky, challenging glare, pride written all over its face. 

‘Chloe, still feeling bold? Looks like you got to rely on me to bail you out,‘ Blitz thought, full of itself. 

Blitz was riding high. Usually, it was the one getting bossed around, but today, it finally got to strut its stuff. 

Blitz thought the woman would shower him with compliments, but instead, an unexpected burst of laughter echoed from behind. 

“Pfft, Spotty? Spotty? Seriously?” Hector couldn’t hold back, cracking up. 

Blitz was about to explode with rage. 

Blitz let out a furious roar. ‘I’m not Spotty!‘ it fumed. 

As Hector arrived, Noah came into view before Chloe. He stood there, tall and proud, looking every bit like a hero. 

Noah shot Chloe a cool glance, then turned to Blitz. “Blitz!” 

Blitz instantly hung its head like a scolded kid, its huge body slowly shrinking down. 

Blitz shot Hector a deadly glare while Hector was still rolling around, laughing like crazy. 

I could just eat that guy!‘ Blitz fumed to itself. 

Hector wasn’t bothered at all. He was still cracking up, checking Chloe out with obvious curiosity. 

Being a powered human, his vision was crazy sharp. He could see clearly as day, even when it was pitch black, and every detail of her face was right there in front of him. 

“Whoa, what a stunner,” Hector blurted out. 

Chloe’s hair was all over the place, her clothes ripped, and a faint streak of blood marked her pale, tired face. She had this messed–up, tragic kind of beauty that made her look even more fragile. 

‘Such a helpless little cutie, Hector thought. 

If Hector could just ignore how fierce Chloe was a moment ago, he’d definitely be cracking jokes and flirting with her right 

now. 

“Hey, gorgeous, what are you doing all alone in a place like this? Why not stick with me? I’ll make sure you’re safe, Hector said with a playful grin. 

Chloe didn’t reply. Instead, she quickly bent down and gathered up all the mutant rats she’d just slain, storing them in her spiritual space. 

The mutant rats‘ teeth were valuable. She planned to have Frank forge them into weapons later. 

Her hands shook as she scooped up the mutant rat bodies. That icy, indifferent look Noah shot her earlier had chilled her to the core.
