Chapter 261Â
“You can have the rest,” Chloe said.Â
Gavin grinned, acting like it was no big deal. “I’m not thirsty.”Â

His lips were cracked, and his throat burned, but he still slipped the half–empty bottle of water into his jacket.Â
After a long silence, Chloe finally asked, “You must really love your sister.”Â
At the mention of his sister, Gavin’s face lit up. “Of course! She’s my one and only. We’ve depended on each other since we were kids. I was the smart one, always getting top marks at school…”Â
Chloe wanted to slap herself. ‘Why did I have to bring up his sister? Great, now he’s off on another rant,’ she thought.Â
In the end, someone knocked Gavin to the ground with a hard kick.Â
“Are you fucking annoying or what? Watch it, or I’ll cut your damn tongue out,” the guy barked.Â
The half–empty bottle of water tumbled out of Gavin’s jacket. Even with a boot pressing down on his back, he scrambled desperately to grab it.Â
But someone was faster and snatched it away.Â
He hadn’t even flinched from the kick or the boot on his back, but the moment his water got stolen, Gavin’s eyes went blood–red with rage.Â
“That’s mine!” Gavin yelled.Â
A big boot pinned his head to the dirt, his face mashed and twisted under the sole.Â
“That’s my water,” Gavin insisted, refusing to give up.Â
Gavin kept fighting back.Â
“You fucking…” the guy snarled.Â
“Let him go.” The sound cut through the chaos, clear and icy.Â
Hearing her, Gavin shot Chloe a look of pure disapproval.Â
“Why’d you have to speak up? Just get out of here!” Gavin hissed,Â
Gavin thought, ‘Her eyes are just like my sister’s, but she’s nowhere near as smart. Seriously, how can someone be this dumb?Â
‘If she’d just kept her mouth shut, everyone would’ve thought she was just one of the guys. Now, her cover is blownÂ
With a girl stepping into a crowd of men, Gavin could already picture how bad this was about to get.Â
Gavin exploded, morphing into a massive wolfhound nearly 6 feet tall, and lunged straight at the guy pinning him down.Â
Before anyone could react, Gavin’s jaws crushed the man’s shin, snapping bone and sending blood gushing everywhere.Â
Taking advantage of the chaos, Gavin grabbed Chloe and made a break for it, sprinting off into the distance.Â

“Grab him!” The man clutched his shattered shin, his eyes wild with pain and rage.Â
Gavin was quick, but the powered humans who stayed behind were mostly level 5 or higher.Â
In no time, a hundred or so people had the massive wolfhound completely surrounded.Â
Chloe was hanging from Gavin’s jaws, her face saying, “Seriously? Is this for real?”Â
“Put me down,” Chloe demanded, not missing a beat.Â

This time, Gavin obeyed and gently released her. His bite was poisonous, and he really didn’t want to accidentally hurt her.Â
He dropped his voice, making sure only she could hear. “I’ll distract them. You run when you get the chance.”Â
Chloe stared at him, stunned. “Do you even realize you could die doing this?”Â
“But you look so much like my sister,” Gavin said, tears welling up in his eyes.Â
‘Maybe my sister’s already gone to heaven ahead of me, Gavin thought.Â
The man whose leg had been bitten through finally limped over, his face fierce and vicious.Â
“Everyone, get him! Kill that damn dog, and tonight we’ll have dog stew. As for the woman–she’s yours,” he spat.Â
Gavin gritted his teeth. “Get out of here!”Â
Without hesitation, he lunged straight at the man with the broken leg.Â
Even though he was only a level 4 powered human, thanks to his unusual powers, he could unleash incredible strength in a fight.Â
The massive wolfhound shot forward in a blur, jaws wide open, going straight for the guy’s throat.Â
But the difference in power was overwhelming. The guy sent him flying with one smack.Â
The wolfhound crashed hard to the ground. When he saw Chloe still hadn’t run, he was so pissed off that he coughed up blood on the spot.Â
Just as several glearning blades were about to come down on the wolfhound, Chloe raised her hand, and some unseen power sent all the weapons flying.Â
“He’s mine. Don’t touch him,” Chloe said, her voice cold and commanding.Â
The man with the broken leg limped over, his face twisted with malice.Â
“Fine, if I can’t touch him, then I’ll have fun with you,” he sneered.Â
Gavin’s agonized scream tore through the air from the ground.Â
“Don’t you dare touch her! She’s just a kid! Have you no humanity at all…” Gavin shouted, his voice raw with desperation.Â
Before he could finish, Chloe flicked her finger, and a razor–sharp wind blade sliced through the air, slitting the man’s throatÂ
in an instant.Â
She casually picked at her ear, then blinked at the stunned Gavin.Â

“Can you stop yelling?” Chloe said, her tone flat.Â
“Wait, what?” Gavin blinked, totally lost.Â
“Hurry up and turn back into a human. You look ridiculous like that,” Chloe said, rolling her eyes.Â
The powered humans finally realized their leader had been killed in an instant. A man went berserk. “Guys, let’s go! Kill that bitch and avenge the boss!”Â
“Kill her!” the others echoed, voices full of rage.Â
Hundreds surged forward, brandishing their shining blades at Chloe.Â
Most of the crowd stood around, faces blank and emotionless; the rest watched like it was entertainment.Â
Some were even placing bets on how long the wolfhound and his “sister” would survive.Â
Then, a shocking scene unfolded before their eyes.Â
With a wave of her hand, Chloe summoned an ice house, sealing the half–dead wolfhound safely inside.Â
Before the blades could strike, she soared into the air, flipped, and landed right at the man’s neck.Â
Her feet snapped together, her body spun 180 degrees, and his neck was twisted clean off.Â
It all happened in a flash. Less than a second, and the gang’s second–in–command was instantly killed.Â
The expressionless crowd was instantly dumbstruck.Â
“Wh–what the… Who is this girl? How can she be so powerful?” someone stammered, voice trembling.Â
When they saw the man drop dead, the powered humans went pale, their hands shaking so hard they could barely hold their weapons.Â
If their boss’s death had been a sneak attack, this man was right out in the open, with everyone watching and ready–yet it still happened in a flash.Â
They didn’t even see what happened.Â
“He was a late–stage level 5 powered human!” someone shouted, voice trembling.Â
That kind of rank made him one of the best among powered humans.Â
They wondered, “To take him out in an instant–just how terrifying is this girl’s power?‘Â
Some of the onlookers were guessing who she really was, while others were trying to figure out just how strong she actuallyÂ
was.Â
Trapped inside the ice house, the wolfhound scratched desperately at the frozen walls with his sharp claws, but could onlyÂ
leave a few faint marks.Â
Watching this, his mouth hung open in shock, his big, round eyes full of disbelief. He just couldn’t believe what he was seeing.Â
Chloe beckoned to the crowd with a casual flick of her finger, looking totally unfazed.Â

“Everyone, come at me,” she said, her voice cool and steady.Â
With a simple wave of her right hand, a massive 6–foot–long ice sword appeared out of thin air.Â
“Damn, she’s an ice–powered human?” someone blurted out.Â
“Wait, didn’t she just kill Tristan with a wind blade? Does she have wind powers too?” another shouted.Â
Everyone was freaking out.Â
Ice and wind abilities were super rare. Having just one was already crazy lucky, but she had both.Â
They thought, ‘What kind of monster is she?Â
‘She’s basically favored by the heavens, her future limitless.Â
Everyone was staring at Chloe with envy.Â
“Are you the third in command?” Chloe asked, her eyes locking onto a young man in the crowd.Â
It was easy to spot him–the powered humans kept shooting him nervous looks, making it obvious.Â
“Y–you! Everyone, attack! Kill this woman!” the young man stammered, his voice trembling.Â
His mouth hung open in an exaggerated way, with white foam at the corners of his lips–seriously gross.Â
