Jagger jumped, worried the milk had spoiled. He quickly patted Phantom Zombie’s back, whispering to calm her down. 

He said, “Babe, I’m sorry. I didn’t know the milk-” 

Before he could finish, Phantom Zombie spun around. The sweet, obedient look on her face vanished, replaced by a strange, furious glare. 

Jagger was stunned. ‘Whoa, my girl looks terrifying,‘ he thought. 

Before he could even apologize, Phantom Zombie grabbed him by the neck, flashing her sharp, white teeth as she spoke. 

“You lied to me,” she growled. 

Jagger felt like crying. ‘Damn, why is my girl so freaking strong?‘ he thought. “Babe, wait–let me explain! I swear I didn’t lie, I didn’t even know the milk was bad.” 

He couldn’t get another word out. His face was turning purple from her grip, and his whole view of Phantom Zombie flipped upside down. 

He was stunned, couldn’t believe what just happened. 

He was completely powerless in her grip. 

‘Man, this isn’t my cute, harmless little wife at all! She’s like a furious lioness!‘ Jagger thought. 

Emily finally burst out laughing, clutching her stomach. 

‘Serves you right for messing with us! Now you’re getting what you deserve,” she said. 

They all knew exactly why Phantom Zombie was so furious. 

It wasn’t about the milk being expired at all. Chloe had swapped the milk for beast blood. 

They used milk cartons just to throw everyone off. 

When Phantom Zombie saw the milk carton, she thought it was just her regular beast blood. 

After all, she was still a zombie. Human food just didn’t work for her. 

By now, Jagger was a wreck. His face was battered and swollen, barely able to catch his breath. 

Phantom Zombie gripped his arms, flinging him back and forth before smashing him down onto the ground. 

The bandits were about to unleash their powers on Phantom Zombie when Jagger managed to croak out a weak protest “Don’t… hurt her, he gasped. 

Even Chloe was speechless. ‘Is this guy seriously a hopeless romantic? she thought. 

“Phantom Zombie, come back,” Chloe called out. 

At Chloe’s command, Phantom Zombie hurled Jagger several feet away, dusted off her hands, and returned to stand obediently behind Chloe.

She kept her eyes down, looking all sweet and innocent. No one would ever guess she was the same violent maniac from just 

moments ago. 

She looked so pure and well–behaved. 

Chloe took a carton of milk from her backpack and passed it to her. 

The wild energy around Phantom Zombie melted away. Her eyes crinkled with a childlike grin, looking sweet and innocent. 

She jammed the straw in and started chugging it down. 

Chloe gently patted her head. “Sweetie, there are a lot of bad guys and tricksters out there, so don’t go grabbing stuff from other people, alright?” 

Phantom Zombie nodded, “Yes.” 

Jagger’s crew helped him up. His face was swollen and covered in bruises, and his body and legs were littered with cuts and scrapes from being thrown around. He winced in pain, gritting his teeth. 

“Jagger, you okay?” one of the guys asked. 

Jagger shook his head, giving Phantom Zombie a pitiful, aggrieved look. 

“Babe, you really don’t know your own strength. Next time, go easy on me, alright?” he said, and somehow, there was even a hint of affection in his voice. 

Everyone was speechless again. 

They realized that Jagger wasn’t just a hopeless romantic–he was a total masochist too. 

But his buddies who really knew him had seen him go full psycho when it came to killing. 

If anyone touched him, he’d go nuclear. 

‘Clear the way! Move, move!” A loud shout came from nearby. A group of 300 people was approaching, their flag held high for all to see. 

It was the Radiant Base crew. 

Chloe stashed the Base Truck in her spiritual space and stepped aside with the others. 

The crowd around them started murmuring and whispering among themselves. 

Rumor had it that Radiant Base was a massive stronghold with hundreds of thousands of people, crawling with top–tier fighters. Word was, their leader was actually a level–6 powered human. 

When Chloe heard about a level–6 powered human, her lips pressed into a thin line. 

‘Looks like there are still plenty of real powerhouses in this world, she thought. 

These days, whether it was a big base or a small one, as long as they had a level- powered human holding down the fort. they basically ruled their own territory. 

Among all these huge groups, Bluehaven Base had way more survivors, but their powered humans just couldn’t even 

compare.

Chloe’s eyes sparkled. ‘A lake? Looks like I can finally start raising some fish and shrimp, she thought. 

But then she realized there weren’t any fish fry available, and all the rivers outside were completely polluted. Her mood dropped again. 

Luckily, with the lake now in place, things would run much smoother for the water–powered humans at the base, and the crops would have plenty of water for irrigation. 

They’d been in Lakeside for a week, and all the big bases that were expected had already arrived. 

Chloe signaled to the Blaze Squad members. ‘Now it’s our turn to step up, she thought. 

Renee excitedly pulled out a flag emblazoned with a flame symbol from her spiritual space and raised it high. 

‘Let’s go.” By the time Chloe finished, the Radiant Base crew had already moved on. She led her Blaze Haven team to follow after them. 

They looked like a sad little bunch–just a few people, and two of them were kids. 

Compared to those squads with hundreds of people, they seemed so timid and weak, practically shivering in the crowd. 

The crowd erupted in laughter. 

Are you kidding me? Anyone can start a base now? Eight people? What a joke!” 

Seriously? Even these frail old folks and weaklings showed up thinking they can compete? They must have a death wish.” 

Everyone was laughing at them, though a few stayed silent. 

Those were the ones who’d just watched Phantom Zombie beat the crap out of Jagger. 

Honestly, I think they’re pretty strong.” 

Yeah, that elegant girl is kind of creepy.” 

There was a chorus of mocking snickers from the crowd. 

You guys are just like Jagger–totally hypnotized by that pretty face, huh?” 

‘Seriously, it was obvious. He’s so head over heels, he didn’t even try to fight back when she was beating him up.” 

While they were talking, Jagger and his crew quickly packed up their stuff and rushed after the group, practically bouncing with excitement. 

Jagger waved his arms like crazy as he ran, yelling, “Babe, wait up for me!” 

His crew shot each other a look and shouted, “Jagger, wait up for us!” 

Chloe and her team heard the shouts from behind and all turned around at once.

They saw dozens of people sprinting over, not even stopping to catch their breath. 

Jagger flashed a shameless grin. “Count me in. I’m joining you guys.”

‘Man, following a boss like him is a full–time headache,’ they all thought.
