The two simultaneously moved closer to each other, neither gauging the distance properly, and ended up bumping into one another. As if by tacit agreement, they both turned to look at each other, just as Sofia, her hands trembling, snapped a quick photo with her phone. 

“Okay, okay, that’s it. Let’s get closer.” Sofia thought this was good, but it was not enough. They should get closer. 

Ash saw Sofia dancing excitedly, sighed helplessly, and lowered her voice. “Sometimes you don’t have to pamper Sofia so much. Sofia acts on every whim that crosses her mind.” 

Calvert didn’t seem to hear it; his eyes kept looking at the camera, and he reached out and took the initiative to hug her shoulder. Ash looked at him in surprise. 

“Yes, that’s it!” Sofia held up a mobile phone and took several pictures in a row. 

Ash was helpless and turned to look at the camera, revealing a faint smile. 

After a long time, Ash looked back on today and realized how happy she was at the moment, with the people she loved the most by her side, but unfortunately she didn’t cherish it more. 

Sofia held her phone and looked at the photos she had just taken. She nodded her head in satisfaction. “Jewel, you should always smile. You and Calvert are truly a perfect match–you even have that ‘couple’s resemblance” 

Sofia looked at the photo over and over again, and she muttered words. 

‘Sofia, we’re standing right in front of you, yet you won’t even look at us, just staring at that photo. Is the picture really better–looking than the real us?” Ash took Sofia’s phone and said, “Your eyesight’s already a bit blurry. You shouldn’t be staring at a screen so much.” 

You two are in front of me, but you are not as close as in this photo.” 

Ash was speechless. ‘Are we supposed to just freeze in the same pose as the photo forever, with his arm always draped over ny shoulder?‘ 

Calvert reached out to take Ash’s hand and shook it in front of Sofia. “Sofia, do you think this is okay?” 

This is okay. This is how a couple should be.” Sofia was in high spirits today, looking noticeably better than before. “I’m fraid I might not live to see your wedding. Calvert, she’s my one and only precious granddaughter. I don’t ask for her to be wealthy or noble, just that she may have a smooth and safe life, with a partner who always puts her first.” 

They were at the beach, the wind blew, and the sun shone on them, making them feel warm. Sofia suddenly felt that she was happy in this life, with such a caring granddaughter as Ash. 

Ash’s eyes were slightly red from the wind. “Sofia, how could you not attend my wedding? Didn’t you say before that you wanted to watch me wear a wedding dress? You can’t go back on your word, and no lying, understand?” 

Ash pinched her shoulder. “Sofia, you can’t keep your word. You told me that when I was young.” 

Sofia smiled gently. “Jewel, I’m afraid I’ll have to break my promise, but seeing you as you are now, that’s enough for me. 

‘Jewel, you’re a grown woman now. Birth, aging, illness, death–these are the most natural things in life. At my age, I’ve had my fill of years.” Sofia patted the back of her hand lightly. “Now, no more of this talk. Let’s take a walk, We’re blessed with such rare fine weather today” 

Ash took a deep breath and suppressed the surging emotions. “Okay, I’ll push you forward. After a while, we’ll go eat. 

Calvert watched as tears welled up in both their eyes, falling into momentary silence. A thought flashed through his mind
