His scorching breath spilled across her skin, sending a shiver down Aurelia’s spine.
Let go of me,” Aurelia whispered harshly, her voice tight with warning.
Not wanting to alert the guards outside, Aurelia could only mutter a warning through clenched teeth.
Cassian pushed his luck even further.

The icy wall brushed against her exposed skin, jolting her back to reality.
As Cassian lunged in recklessly, Aurelia seized the moment and bit down hard.
He let out a muffled groan, and the metallic taste of blood spread in her mouth.
He only pulled back a little, but still held her tightly against him.
His breathing was even more ragged and scorching than before.

They were pressed so close together that, in the midst of their struggle, Aurelia could feel his body reacting to her.
When she realized what that meant, Aurelia’s face went crimson, her whole body burning up as if she might catch fire.
She didn’t dare move again, afraid she’d set him off, and he’d just do something reckless.
In the darkness, all they could hear was each other’s ragged, uneven breathing.
“Are you even aware of what you’re doing?” Aurelia’s voice shook with fury. “This is a crime! I could call the police and have you thrown in jail!”
“Do it, see if I care,” Cassian shot back, sounding completely unhinged.
He dipped his head and kissed her bare, smooth shoulder.
After their struggle, tiny beads of sweat gathered in the hollow of her neck.
Aurelia didn’t dare move her lower body, but her hands were still free.
She wanted to slap him, but worried the sound would alert the guards, so in the end, she scratched him hard out of sheer frustration.
She didn’t hold back.
She definitely left marks, maybe even drew blood.
But all he did was hiss, then sink his teeth into her shoulder, retaliating even harder, giving it right back to her, only rougher.
‘Or you could go ahead and bite my tongue off if you want payback,” he taunted.
He really had lost it.
Not even her biting and scratching could make him back off.
Cassian bore down on her, claiming her lips again with force and urgency,
His kiss was so rough it made her lips sting, the pressure almost painful.
Aurelia struggled against hirm, hitting and clawing in desperation.
The more she fought, the more unhinged Cassian became.
His kisses grew deeper, wilder, savage.
He finally let her go, just as Aurelia was about to pass out from sheer lack of air.

Chapter 381
Aurelia sucked in desperate, ragged breaths, her chest rising and falling wildly.
Cassian lingered on her lips, his voice softening as he pleaded, “Aurelia, can we go back to how things used to be?”
Aurelia turned away from him, her tone cold and distant. “Impossible.”
“Why not? You said you loved me once. We had something- Cassian pleaded, desperation creeping into his voice.
Aurelia cut him off, sounding fed up. “I loved you back then, but not anymore. That’s never going to happen.”
For the first time, it really hit Cassian. Aurelia was cold, distant, and had truly moved on.
All his strength and fight just drained away in that moment.
He felt utterly defeated, like there was nothing left inside him.
Aurelia seized the moment and broke free from his arms while he was distracted.
She collected herself, smoothing out her disheveled dress with a calm, steady hand.
Footsteps echoed outside again, and someone was calling for her.
It was Darren.
That voice cut through Cassian’s haze, snapping him out of his madness in an instant.
Aurelia didn’t even look back. She just opened the door and walked out, leaving him behind.
The pain from his bitten tongue and the scratches she left finally started to sting, but it was nothing compared to the ache in his heart.
It turned out that hearing her say she didn’t love him anymore hurt just like this.
When Darren found Aurelia, he could tell right away that something was wrong.
He also noticed the red marks on her shoulder.
Without asking any questions, he took off his jacket and gently draped it over her. “Come on, let’s get you out of here.”
Aurelia hesitated, worried it might be rude to leave the party early.
Darren replied, “It’s not important.”
He didn’t even bother saying goodbye to anyone from the Sands family. He just took Aurelia and walked out.
Juliana falling into the pool brought the birthday party to an early end.
Joseph looked grim. As soon as he walked into the room, he ordered all the servants to leave.
Once they were alone, he turned to Juliana and scolded her, “What kind of trouble are you causing this time? Didn’t I warn you about this?”
Juliana’s eyes were red, and she sounded so pitiful. “I’m just jealous! I can’t stand seeing Darren with any other woman!”
Joseph jabbed a finger at her. “Look at yourself. What man would ever want you?”

Juliana’s mother–Joseph’s second wife, Regan–knocked and came in. “Oh, stop scolding her. She’s had a rough day.
“Here, drink this. Don’t catch a cold, Regan said gently.
Juliana was sniffling, her voice shaky. “Dad, did you figure out who pushed me into the pool?”
Joseph said, “Yeah, I found out.”
“Then hurry up and catch him! Make him pay. Beat him up good, then haul him to the cops! I want him thrown in jail and eft to rot!” Juliana spat, furious.
No, Joseph cut her off instantly.
Why not?” Juliana demanded, refusing to let it go.
He’s got his uses,” Joseph said.
uliana kept badgering him, so Joseph finally pulled up the security footage for her.
When she saw who it was, she totally lost it. “Him again?! Last time he kicked me so hard he broke four of my ribs, and now he’s tossed me into the pool! Dad, I want him dead!”
Enough with the drama! This is Grendel, not the wild west,” Joseph warned her. “If you still want to marry Darren, you need o listen to me from now on. Don’t do anything reckless.”
uliana nodded immediately. “Alright, as long as I get to marry Darren, I’ll do anything.”
Keep dressing and acting like Aurelia every single day. Most importantly, copy her tone and expressions! As long as Darren hasn’t moved on from Aurelia, you still have a shot,” Joseph said.
And don’t even think about doing anything reckless! This is Grendel, Darren’s turf. He’ll catch you at anything you try. Didn’t you see how many bodyguards he’s got around Aurelia? Forget about touching her. You can’t even get close! Don’t give Darren any more ammo against you. If you mess up again, I might not be able to bail you out of the psych ward next ime, Joseph warned.
uliana’s face turned ghostly pale, and she shook her head in a panic. “Alright, I understand.”
Getting locked up in a psych ward was a nightmare. No one should ever have to go through that.
She was scared out of her mind.
As for the guy who kicked you into the pool, he’s actually got his uses. I checked him out. He’s the heir to the Locke Group in Ashmont, Joseph said.
‘And he used to be Aurelia’s boyfriend!” he added.
Juliana gritted her teeth. “No wonder! Last time he kicked me so hard he broke my ribs because of Aurelia, and now he’s tossed me into the pool for her again!”
“If he and Aurelia rekindle things, her engagement to Darren wouldn’t count anymore.
“So, he’s off limits,” Joseph concluded.
