“It has three tails, she replied.
Chloe’s eyes lit up with excitement.
Three tails? So, the white fox has already evolved and sproved three tals. That meets to be east s Chloe thought.
The Ninetail Fox ranked ninth on the mutant beast leaderboard in Chloe’s previous life. Each of its tie tais represented life.
It could weave powerful illusions and had the terrifying ability to reflect my wrack back
In other words, anyone who tried to strike it would have their own attack turned against them
Its abilities were truly frightening
It had killed countless people and was one of the hardest mutant beasts to capture after the apocalypse.
“Looks like things just got complicated, Chloe said under her breath
But deep down, she was practically buzzing with excitement, already plotting how to wag that white fox for herself.
Just then, Linda walked over.
“Linda, what’s up?” Chloe asked.
“Chloe, we’ve finished cleaning all the venomous snakes we killed last night. We’ve removed their fangs. What do you want us to do with the snake meat?” Linda asked,
Linda was a water–powered human, and thanks to Chloe’s help, she’d reached the third level.
At the base, she wasn’t exactly a big shot, but she wasn’t a nobody either. She took care of all the daily business around the place.
Chloe grabbed her binoculars and glanced over at the drying field nearby.

Chapter 309
The place was packed with cleaned snake bodies, all spread out to dry.
Chloe said, “Rain’s probably coming in about two weeks. Get everything dried into jerky and stash it all in the cave.
“Oh, and spread the word. Starting tomorrow, everyone needs to head out and harvest the crops.”
Linda’s face was full of concern. “But the crops aren’t fully ripe yet. Isn’t that too soon?”
Chloe lowered her binoculars and shook her head. “It’s not too early. If the rain hits, all our hard work will go to waste.
After Linda left, Chloe rounded up Jagger, Frank, Filip, and the rest.
She told them to form a squad, head out, hunt down as many mutant beasts as possible, and make sure Blaze Haven’s flag was flying in every corner of the map.
“Here’s the map of Grovenwich. Remember, stay within Grovenwich. Don’t go anywhere else,” Chloe said.
“Got it,” everyone chimed in.
As the sun crept up, the field workers rushed over to the artificial lake to freshen up.
The men and women split into their own sections, lugging big buckets to scrub off the dirt and sweat, grinning from ear to
car.
The newcomers who didn’t have their own buckets used washbasins to splash water over themselves. Some even tried to sneak into the river for a swim, only to get yanked back by the folks behind them.
“Are you trying to get yourself killed?” one of the workers snapped. The worker’s stern expression made the newcomer jump.
“W–What’s wrong?” the newcomer stammered.
“This might be an artificial lake, but it’s deep as hell. Nobody knows what’s lurking down there. If you dive in and something happens, what then?” the worker warned.
He shuddered just thinking about it, the fear still written all over his face. “There was a guy who went swimming in the artificial lake and never resurfaced.
“The base chief told us to stick to washing up at the shore. Do that, and nothing bad will happen.”
The newcomer let out a relieved sigh, patting his chest in gratitude. “Really appreciate the warning.
“But if the artificial lake is so dangerous, and the base chief is such a badass, why doesn’t she clear it out?” the newcomer asked.
The worker rolled his eyes at him. “Seriously? Even if the base chief and the others can swim, humans aren’t made for underwater combat. Their fighting power would tank down there.
“So, we just have to wait for those monsters to crawl out on their own.”
As they talked, a crowd of curious onlookers gathered around, eager to hear the latest gossip.
A middle–aged woman shot a curious look at the artificial lake. The water sparkled, mountains loomed in the distance, mist curling around them. It was like something out of a landscape painting.
But nobody knew what kind of danger lurked beneath that beautiful surface.

As they pre, a chill crept up everyone’s backs, and they all sheak away, taking a few steps back
They kept their eyes glad to the deering lake, almost expecting a Waterbend to pop or at any moment
A few of the timid folks washed up quickly, threw on dean dothes, and rathed back to their rooms
When everyone else was done and about to turn in for the night, the water splashed. They spun around instinctively, only to face a green monter
Scream echoed in the air.
The middle–aged woman dropped her bucket in terror, stumbled, and fell to the ground, frantically scooting herself away “Waterbend: Somebody, help
A scream rang out, making more people turn to look.
What they saw was a monster, completely green from head to toe.
It looked like a giant crawling lizard, its eyes wide and blood–red like lanterns, and its long, forked tongue flickered in and out like a snake,
With a sudden leap, it pounced on an elderly lady, knocking her to the ground. Its tongue shot out, wrapped around her, and devoured her in one gulp.
“The Waterfiend’s here! Help! people screamed,
The moment the screams started, Phantom Zombie was already at the front of the crowd.
Panic flashed in the Waterfiend’s eyes as it spun around, making a break for it, moving like lightning
But Phantom Zombie was even faster. She reacted instantly, hit it with a spirit–powered blast that blanked out the lizard–like Waterfiend’s mind, knocking out its control over its limbs.
She was already right in front of the lizard, bringing her axe down toward its neck.
With a loud sound, the axe ended up all bent, but the lizard–like Waterfiend’s neck didn’t even have a scratch.
Phantom Zombie looked at her messed–up axe, lips twitching in frustration.
She couldn’t help but remember Jagger standing in front of her, proudly holding out the axe.
“Honey, this is my special axe. It’s super sharp! When you fight, don’t use your claws, okay? I’d feel bad if you hurt yourself,” he’d said.
She looked confused for a moment,
‘Sharp? Really?’ she thought.
That brief hesitation was all the Waterfiend needed to regain its senses. With a sudden leap, it dove straight into the water, heading for the bottom.
