“Do you two need to talk? Should I leave?” Ash said, clearly uninterested in watching the same drama unfold again. “Go ahead. I’ll head downstairs.”

Calvert’s face darkened, and he grabbed her arm. “Where are you going? I’ve got nothing to discuss with her.”

Ash shrugged, a teasing glint in her eyes. “But she seems like she wants to talk to you. You should go ahead and talk it out. Some things are better left between you two.”

Calvert’s expression grew even darker at her words, his voice low and irritated. “Ash, what are you implying? Why would it be hard for us to talk with you here?”

ade’s legs started feeling numb, and she leaned against the wall to steady herself. She quickly said, “No, you’ve nisunderstood, Ash. I’m just waiting here. I’m not trying to talk to Calvert.”
