Chapter 321Â
Besides, all these supplies were just consumables.Â
As the years passed after the apocalypse, especially ten years in, almost all modern goods had vanished completely.Â
Some got buried by earthquakes, while most simply became part of the soil.Â
Eventually, people’s lives started to resemble those of primitive humans from ancient times.Â
Whether it was stubbornness or just not wanting to give up, Chloe always tried to hold onto a bit of civilization, not wanting it to disappear from the world for good.Â
Chloe arrived at an old neighborhood where people used to live. She kicked the door open, and three zombies came rushing out at her.Â
These were zombies that had been stuck inside the rooms ever since the outbreak. Without any fresh flesh, they couldn’t level up, and they were so weak that even a regular person could finish them off.Â
Chloe took a look around the room; it still had that cozy, lived–in vibe.Â
She gathered everything up and tossed it all into her spiritual space in one go.Â
She realized that going door to door collecting supplies was just way too slow, so she decided to stop searching altogether.Â
On her way, she pretty much eliminated all the threats. Later, she could just let Blaze Haven’s hunting squad core in to carry out the mission.Â
The world outside was getting more and more dangerous. If they just stayed stagnant inside the base, they’d be doomed.Â
As they worked to strengthen the base, the powered humans had to keep evolving, too.Â
Only then could they avoid being eliminated.Â
After crossing the city, Chloe found herself in an area packed with row after row of clothing factories.Â
From inside, the weak growls of zombies echoed, sounding more pitiful than threatening.Â
She kicked the factory door open, and ice blades streaked through the air, wiping out over a hundred level–one zombies inÂ
an instant.Â
The first thing Chloe saw was rows of sewing machines, mountains of fabric, and heaps of needles, thread, and scissors.Â
This was an industrial park, and since the apocalypse hit during Christmas, the place was practically deserted.Â
Collecting supplies here was a breeze.Â
While everyone else was focused on hunting for food, Chloe made sure to snatch up all the supplies she could find, so she could sell them off later.Â
Honestly, shopping for free was the best feeling ever.Â
She moved fast, scavenging a factory in just seconds, stripping the place bare and leaving nothing behind.Â
A super SUV slowly followed behind her, scooping up whatever Chloe left behind.Â

Today, they parked next to one of the factories,Â
Grim looked puested.Â
“What do you think that big shot is doing at a clothing factory?” Grim asked.Â
13.06 varchersÂ
Duh, obviously she’s grabbing clothes. She’s probably some big deal from a base, prepping for her base’s survival, someone replied.Â
Last winter was so brutally cold that tons of people literally froze to death. Even now, just remembering it makes everyone shudder with anxietyÂ
Once Chloe had stripped the whole industrial park clean, she found herself a hundred miles out from GrovenwichÂ
Half a month went by, and the locusts had all but vanished. Now, new overlords ruled the skies.Â
Colossal creatures soared above, as ancient pterosaurs brought back to life.Â
Behind Chloe, the group stared out the car windows, their hearts pounding as they watched the sky in terror.Â
“Is that… a pterosaur?” one of them stammered.Â
“No way, it’s gotta be some kind of mutated bird, like it reverted to its ancient form or something,” another replied.Â
“Quick, move out of the way!” one of them yelled.Â
A pterosaur as big as a mountain was devouring locusts like crazy, but with its massive size, those bugs were barely a snack, totally not enough to fill it up.Â
Then it caught sight of a weird metal box below, and the smell of humans was practically pouring out from inside.Â
Its razor–sharp eyes locked onto the target, wings beating as it shot upward in a flashy spin, then swooped down like aÂ
missile.Â
It was so fast, it looked like it could blow past a car doing 180 miles an hour.Â
The team members went pale with fear and scrambled out of the car. Itzel took the chance to stash the car away in her spiritual space.Â
Then they all scattered in different directions.Â
When the pterosaur was just flying overhead, nobody thought much of it. But now, seeing it up close, the oppressive aura it gave off made their knees buckle.Â
The group rolled desperately across the ground, only just escaping the attack.Â
Where the car had been moments ago, a giant pit was left in the earth.Â
The pterosaur had gouged it out with its massive beak.Â
Gasp!Â
Everyone drew in a sharp breath.Â
Grim spat forcefully onto the ground, cursing furiously.Â

If I’m dying today, I’m taking you, bastards, with me! Brothers, this is our last stand!” Grim yelled.Â
His words were a heroic rallying cry, but deep down, his heart was already numb with despair.Â
This last stand was nothing but a death sentence for them all.Â

Everyone was tense and ready, launching a desperate barrage of powers at the pterosaur, throwing everything they had at it.Â
But their attacks didn’t even faze the beast; in fact, it only enraged the pterosaur even more.Â
“Are you kidding me? I’m a legit level–six powered human, level six! And I can’t even leave a scratch on that thing’s hide?” Grim curved in disbelief.Â
Grim was in utter despair.Â
His powers, once his pride, now felt like a cruel joke.Â
Just a single breath from the pterosaur was enough to blast everyone but Grim off their feet, leaving them coughing up bloodÂ
“Grim!” everyone cried out in horror.Â
They might’ve been blasted far away, but at least they were still breathing. Grim, though, was dead center in the pterosaur’s sights, about to get gobbled up like a bug.Â
Rage and helplessness surged inside them, making their blood boil.Â
One by one, everyone shut their eyes in hopeless surrender, even Grim gave up fighting.Â
Suddenly, Grim felt a cold breeze brush past him.Â
“Why do I feel cold when it’s blazing hot out here, over 140 degrees Fahrenheit?‘ Grim wondered, confused.Â
Wait a second, with the pterosaur that close, I should’ve been lunch already, he thought.Â
Heart pounding, Grim slowly peeked open his eyes, only to find the pterosaur had vanished.Â
All that remained in front of him was a shattered ice blade.Â
The ice blade stretched nearly 160 feet long, razor–sharp and intimidating. Despite the blistering heat, it showed no signs of melting, instead emitting a faint, icy glow.Â
“An ice blade?” Grim muttered.Â
Itzel scrambled over, nearly tripping in her haste. “Grim, are you okay?”Â
Rebecca and David rushed over, and when they saw the giant ice blade still standing there, they were totally blown away.Â
“It must’ve been that big shot who saved us,” someone blurted out.Â
The group dropped to their knees, prostrating themselves in the direction Chloe had left, overwhelmed with awe and gratitude.Â
If Chloe knew, she’d definitely say, “You’re seriously overthinking this. I just want that pterosaur, that’s all.”Â
Ever since the mutant pterosaurs started soaring through the skies, the locusts had been disappearing day by day. Soon, notÂ
