Itzel shot back. “But leaving a girl who looks like she couldn’t hurt a fly here? If something happens to her, Id never be able to live with myself.” 

Chloe frowned. 

‘Can’t even hurt a fly?‘ Chloe thought. 

Looks like her appearance fooled them, but she wasn’t about to set them straight. 

“Itzel, are you crazy?” the man with narrow eyes shot back. “Look at this girl, she’s clean, looks amazing, and she’s still alise You really think she couldn’t hurt a fly?” 

“If that’s true, then how did she survive this long? That’s pretty suspicious.” The man with narrow eyes glanced at Chloe 

‘Sorry, we can’t bring you along,” he said. 

Everyone fell silent. As much as they hated to admit it, the man with narrow eyes had a point. 

‘But we’re all human,” Itzel said. 

The man with narrow eyes snapped, “So what? There are so many people in the world, are you going to save every single one? Can you really do that?” 

‘I… at least I don’t want to just stand by and watch someone die,” Itzel said. 

The man with narrow eyes was so frustrated. 

‘Do you realize what kind of world we’re living in now? This is the apocalypse! People are dying everywhere!” he shouted 

Then he pointed at Chloe. “It’s not that I’m cold–hearted, but you just haven’t given me any reason to trust you.” 

‘We still have to head to Faircrest for our rendezvous, and things are even worse there,” he added. 

Finally, trying to talk everyone out of it, he said, “Our mission is to get to the grain depot in Faircrest. It’s swarming with nutant beasts, and the Zombie King is standing guard. It’s practically suicide.” 

Chloe hadn’t planned on leaving with them, but when she heard that last line, her hand paused as she was picking at the stone table. 

Faircrest? And there’s a grain depot there?‘ Chloe wondered. 

Right, Faircrest was called the world’s granary. It was the first site hit when the apocalypse broke out. Almost everyone was wiped out, but all the supplies inside stayed perfectly preserved. 

In her previous life, groups of powerful humans had teamed up to search for resources there. 

Not a single soul survived. 

No one knew what went down inside. 

That grain was nothing like the rye they had now. Rye might be cheap and filling, but it scratches your throat going down. If they could bring back some premium grain, that would be a real game–changer. 

Plus, it was a whole grain depot; if they managed to secure it, so many people could be saved.

Cough, cough… but honestly, the best part was that the thousand–plus folks at Blaze Haven would never have to worry abo food or drink again. 

The group fell silent, and the man with narrow eyes let out a heavy sigh. 

“If there’s really no other way, we’ll take her along for a while. If we come across a base, we’ll drop her off there” he said 

“Sounds good, let’s do that,” Itzel replied. 

Everyone agreed on the plan. 

Chloe didn’t say a word the whole time; she slipped right in with the group, as if she was meant to be there 

Honestly, she was totally lost when it came to directions and had no idea how to get to Faircrest. Besides that grain depot was probably tucked away somewhere hard to find. 

The man with narrow eyes gave her another warning. “Don’t let my small eyes fool you, I’m watching you the whole time Try anything funny, and you’ll regret it.” 

Itzel quickly stepped in front of Chloe, shielding her. 

“Why are you scaring her? Her eyes are getting red,” Itzel said. 

Chloe blinked in confusion. 

‘My eyes are red? Since when? How did I not notice?‘ she wondered. 

The man with narrow eyes deflated. “Fine, fine, so I’m the bad guy here, huh?” 

He fell silent, then carefully crawled up to the window, poking his head out just enough to look outside, only to lack eyes with those bloodshot eyes staring right back at him. 

The Pterosaur’s eye was even bigger than the window, blood vessels snaking through it. The sight was enough to make your 

skin crawl. 

The man with narrow eyes jerked back so hard he tumbled right out of the window. 

The group reacted fast, pulling the man with narrow eyes back just in time. 

A sharp beak pierced through the window, stabbing right into the spot where the man with narrow eyes had just landed 

“Quick, get to the second floor!” someone shouted. 

The first floor had a ton of windows, making it easy for the Pterosaur to launch attacks from outside. 

A razor–sharp claw shot through the window, cutting off their escape route. 

The whole building was shaking violently. 

“Damn, the building’s coming down!” someone yelled. 

No one expected the Pterosaur to be this powerful; the entire building was like a plaything in its grip. 

Seeing everyone inside panic and running around like headless chickens, the Pterosaur seemed to be thoroughly 

entertained.

Chapter 323 

One of its claws shoved inside, raking around like it was searching for something. 

It was just like a woodpecker digging for grubs in a tree. 

Chloe was speechless. 

‘What kind of dumbass team is this?‘ she thought. 

The Pterosaur could crush this whole building in seconds, and they actually think running to the second floor will help? 

Suddenly, her hand was grabbed. 

It was Rebecca, the buff one. 

“What are you standing there for? Move your ass!” Rebecca snapped. 

Grim snapped out of it right away. 

“Everyone, get out now!” he shouted. 

Everyone worked together to move the heavy stuff blocking the door out of the way, then bolted outside. 

They’d barely made it out when the whole building collapsed in an instant, the Pterosaur’s massive claw smacking down on the ruins. 

“Oh my god!” someone screamed. 

Everyone’s legs turned to jelly. 

“What the hell is that thing? How is it so freaking powerful?” someone stammered. 

They were on the verge of tears. 

To make matters worse, two more Pterosaurs swooped in from the sky, just as massive as the first. 

The locusts in the air had all been devoured, so now the Pterosaurs were hungry and hunting for prey on the ground. 

Chloe’s eyes gleamed with anticipation. 

A sly grin tugged at her lips. 

“Three massive Pterosaurs? This is a goldmine!‘ Chloe thought. 

Just as Chloe was about to unleash her ice sword, the Pterosaur on the ground suddenly turned and roared at the two flying above. 

Clearly, those two Pterosaurs in the air were a couple, just trying to play the vulture and snatch the prize at the last second 

“This is my chance,” Chloe said. 

Her ice sword was forming in her hand, but before she could make a move, someone grabbed her arm; it was Itzel 

“What are you waiting for? Run!” Itzel shouted. 

Chloe’s expression soured. If it weren’t for Itzel being at least somewhat kind, she would’ve finished her off right then and 

there.

Chapter 323 

The three pterosaurs screeched one after another. 

A series of piercing screeches split the air. Chloe spun around just in time to see the three gas heroes they each other, their wings whipping up a wild gale that sent dust and debris flying everywhere 

‘Perfect, they’re fighting among themselves, Chloe thought. 

If all three had teamed up against her, it would’ve been a nightmare. But now, all she had to do was in hor’s and sexy the rewards. 

Clearly, the survivors in the group were thinking the same thing 

The main issue was that they realized there was no way out; the three Pterosaurs were brawling with the right for 

of it all. 

If anyone tried to run now, they’d just end up getting attacked by all three at once. 

“That’s it, we’re doomed. We’re totally doomed!” the man with narrow eyes groaned, looking utterly minerale 

Chloe couldn’t care less, she just walked off. 

There were plenty of high–rises around; there had to be some supplies left inside. 

She walked right into a nearby building that was shaking violently, striding through the raging wind like it was a walk in the park. 

The office building was upscale, but aside from a bunch of computers, there was nothing worth grabbing 

She moved on to the next building. 

Struck out again. She wasn’t about to walk away with nothing after coming all this way. 

So she ended up taking a laptop with her. 

It might come in handy for Todd, since he’s a whiz with tech. 

She went through several buildings in a row, but they were all just offices, nothing useful at all. 

Chloe shook her head and sighed. “Geez, I’d be better off searching the apartment buildings
