Chapter 1Â
GemmaÂ
“So this is what you want? Parading around naked during my heat, acting like a bitch just to seduce me?”Â
My Alpha husband, Cassian, growled low as he sniffed at the crook of my neck.Â
“You just want to be fucked, don’t you?”Â
.No… ah…” I tried to push him away, resisting his hold.Â
We’ve been married for three years. And I’m still a virgin.Â
Cassian Blackwell–Alpha of the Smokewind Pack and the mostÂ
feared mafia boss in North America–swore he would never touch.Â
- me.Â
Because to him, I was nothing more than the daughter of hisÂ
sworn enemy.Â
But now, in the middle of his heat, he lost control… and took meÂ
anyway.Â
“Ah… it’s too deep… Cassian…”Â

At that moment, I was still covered in wounds–scars from theÂ
plane crash.Â
The rough way he was taking me now only made the pain worse.Â
My wolf hadn’t awakened yet.Which meant I didn’t have herÂ
healing abilities.Â
The pack’s healer said the only thing that could help me recover……Â
was the bond with my mate. As long as I returned to him, I’d startÂ
to heal.Â
I called Cassian countless times. He never picked upÂ
Until I was in my room, changing the bandages on my side, whenÂ
he suddenly burst through the door–deep in heat.Â
He didn’t even notice my injuries.Â
Or maybe he did, and chose to ignore them.Â
Because he never cared. He never loved meÂ
In fact. I think he hated meÂ
He forced himself into me. And I felt it–my wound tearing openÂ
again.Â

The pain made my whole body shake, and I flinched without meaning to.Â
“You’re so damn tight…”Â
I tried to fight him off, to turn away and escape, but his hand clamped hard around my waist. His other hand grabbed my breast, squeezing roughly. His breath–hot and heavy–dragged down my cheek and across my neck, making me shudder as helpless whimpers escaped my throat.Â
“What are you running for? Isn’t this what you’ve alwaysÂ
wanted?”Â
No. Not like this…Â
Yes, I wanted him.But not like this.Â
But his Alpha scent overwhelmed me–made my mind hazy.Â
Desire flooded in, and I lost the strength to resist. All I could doÂ
was gasp, moan….Â
His hand slid down my stomach and found my core. He knewÂ
exactly what he was doing. He rubbed my clit in hard, practiced circles–And before I could stop myself, a moan tore from my lips.l came on his fingers in less than a minute.Â
The dizzying wave of pleasure, mixed with the pain of my injuries,Â

Cassian flipped me over like I weighed nothing. My chest hit the bed, my face pressing into the sheets.Â
Then his arms wrapped around my hips, pulling them up, forcing my legs open. My body arched, unwilling.Â
“You married me for a hundred million dollars. You promised myÂ
grandfather you’d give me an heir. Well-”Â
He leaned down, voice dark and cold.Â
“Now, I’ll help you keep that promise.”Â
This isn’t how it’s supposed to be.Â
No–please, no….Â
Panic surged in me. I scrambled forward, trying to escape theÂ
humiliating position, but he dragged me back again like I wasÂ
nothing.Â
“Cassian-! No! Please, just listen to me-!”Â
His hand gripped my hips hard. Before I could stop him, his burning, rigid shaft slammed into me again–deep and ruthless.Â

Pain exploded through me.Â

My ears rang. I buried my cries into the pillow, gasping for air, trembling as a broken sob finally slipped past my lips.Â
Cassian paused–just for a second. He turned my face gently from the pillow, fingers curling under my chin. His touch softened, lips brushing against mine, slow and sweet.Â
So gentle… it made me almost believe he loved me.That maybe, just maybe, he cared.Â
For a moment, I forgot the pain.I kissed him back, instinctively-Â
stupidly.Â
But then he started moving again. Harder.Deeper.Â
The kiss turned violent.Â
He devoured me, like a man starved, like a beast in heat.I could barely breathe–just muffled moans, gasping under his weight. He flipped me over, again and again, using my body like he owned it,Â
until the final time-Â
That thick, brutal length rammed deep inside me, slamming intoÂ
places that had never been touched.Something inside me knew, I froze, terror surged through me.Â

He covered my mouth with his palm, growling low in my ear as heÂ
spilled himself deep inside me.Â
When I came back to myself, I was wrapped in the blanket–my body aching all over, like it had been torn apart… like I’d been runÂ
over.Â
Cassian stepped out of the bathroom, already fully dressed.Â
Six–foot–five, broad shoulders in a fitted suit, collar slightly open,Â
his shirt wrinkled, but somehow still immaculate. That face-Â
cold, sharp, almost unreal. He was always cold, powerful, and untouchable–like a king who ruled from above.Â
And he didn’t even look at me.Â
He walked to the door like none of it had happened.Â
“Cassian!” I called out, my voice hoarse.Â
The blanket slipped. I scrambled to cover myself again,Â
embarrassed, vulnerable.Â

Last night… had been our first time. But the most pathetic part? Even after everything–after mating–He never marked me. HeÂ
never saw me as his mate.Â
“Where are you going?” I asked, panic rising in my throat.Â
Goddess… I didn’t want him to leave.I wanted him to stay with me.Â
Cassian’s face was a mask of stone, emotionless but beautiful.Â
“You got what you wanted,” he said coldly. “You win.”Â
My heart sank.Â
“That’s not what I meant…” I whispered, throat tight. “I really… need you.”Â
But he didn’t even turn around. And then I felt it–my wound hadÂ
worsened.Â
I needed him.Needed his wolf’s healing.I reached for his arm-Â
desperate.Â
But he jerked away violently.Â
I wasn’t prepared.Â

I fell, hard.Â
“Get out of my way,” he snapped.Â
And then he opened the door and walked out.Â
Tears slid helplessly down my cheeks, and a crushing wave of pain swallowed me whole.Â
Just then, a message alert chimed from my phone. A boldÂ
headline flashed across the screen:Â
“Cassian Blackwell & His Future Luna?”Â
My hands trembled as I tapped it open.Â

A front–page photo filled the screen–Cassian holding a bouquet of flowers, walking alongside a woman at the VIP terminal of theÂ
airport.Â
That woman… she had eyes just like mine. Because she was likeÂ
- me.Â
Reyna.Â
My half–sister.Â
She was back.Â

No wonder, a hollow, bitter laugh broke from my throat.Â
I’d been calling Cassian all day… and he hadn’t answered meÂ
once.Â
So that’s why he never picked up my calls today.Because he was with Reyna.Â
It all made sense now, Cassian had always wanted her-Â
my half–sister. Not me.I was just the stand-in.In his eyes, I wasÂ
nothing special, plain,powerless.Â
No wolf, no strength, no worth.Â
Just a weak she–wolf who could never be good enough to standÂ
beside the man who ruled the underworld.I was the Luna no oneÂ
ever recognized.Â
Then the door opened again. My heart skipped–I thoughtÂ
maybe… maybe he’d finally come to check on me. Maybe he feltÂ
something.Â
But then I saw what he was holding.Â
Birth control pills.Â
The color drained from my face.Â

He walked over and tossed them onto the bed like they wereÂ
nothing.Â
“Take it. Don’t fool yourself into thinking that just because I touched you, you have the right to carry my pup. You never will.”Â
I clenched the bedsheet, my hands trembling, lips parted–but IÂ
couldn’t form a single word.Â
He gave a cold laugh and dropped the glass on the nightstandÂ
with a loud thud.Â
Then his gaze shifted… and landed on something on the sheets.Â
He froze.Â
I followed his eyes–and saw it.A small stain of blood.Â
His voice dropped, hoarse and low.Â
“You were a virgin?”Â
He stared.Â
“That was your first time?”Â
I swallowed the lump in my throat. My voice shook.Â

“Do you even care?”Â
For a split second, I hoped. Just a flicker of guilt, of regret, of anything human.Â
But his face remained stone, cold and unmoved.Â
“No. I don’t.“He said it like it meant nothing.Â
And just like that, everything shattered.Â
Pain surged through me, deep and raw. I could barely breathe.Â
My wounds throbbed like open gashes. My heart felt like it was collapsing in on itself.Â
But I didn’t cry.Â
I picked up the glass with trembling hands, held his gaze–and swallowed the pill.Â
He didn’t say a word. He didn’t stay.He just turned and walkedÂ
toward the door.Â
“Cassian Blackwell.”Â
I called his name. My voice was calm. Too calm.Â

He paused. Turned slightly, his brows drawn together.Â
“I have something to say.”Â
His face twisted into a cruel smirk.“Save it. I don’t want to hear a damn thing from you.”Â
Every time I thought he couldn’t hurt me more, he did.Â
Every time I believed the emotional silence, the coldness, had finally ended,Â
he used his words–sharp, cruel–to break me all over again.Â
I looked at the Alpha standing before me,the man I had loved for three years.Â
And for the first time, it felt like I was seeing him for the last time.Â
It’s time to let go.Â
I was done holding this bond together with nothing but my bleeding hands.Â
Done trying to make something work that was never meant to be.Â
He was never going to love me.And now, with the woman he trulyÂ

“Let’s end the mate bond,” I said quietly but clearly. “From now.”Â
