Chapter35 

Adelaide chuckled, turned and sat on the dining chair. Garrett 

didn’t hesitate, listened in front of her and said, “Dad.” 

Two seconds later, Garrett’s face changed dramatically: “What? 

Wasn’t the contract signed before? Okay, I’m coming over right 

now.” 

As soon as the phone hung up, Garrett was clearly more flustered than before. He urgently explained, “Honey, my 

father–in–law just told me that the previous client suddenly 

backed out. I have to go and sort it out now. Once it’s done, I’ll 

come back. Please, don’t leave this time. Wait for me to come 

back and we’ll continue our conversation.” 

“Get lost.” With just two cold words, Garrett didn’t catch any 

other meaning, just responded with a quick “okay” and hurried 

away. 

Adelaide was being sarcastic in her heart, and right after 

Amanda called, Finley said there was a problem with the client. 

Anyone could see there was a problem. 

She stood on the balcony, made sure Garrett’s car had left the 

neighborhood, and then she left too. 

Back at the Sterling Estates, she made herself a bowl of noodles 

Just as she took a few bites, she received an anonymous text 

message. 

She thought it was a delivery message, but when she opened it, 

her pupils dilated, she immediately put down her phone, 

covered her mouth, turned around, and rushed into the 

bathroom to vomit in disgust. 

After catching her breath, she came out looking pale and picked 

up her phone again. 

It’s a photo. 

In the photo, Garrett and Amanda are lying on the bed, hugging 

each other in red clothes. 

Amanda smiled proudly at the camera, it was a selfie. 

Below is the accompanying text, “Adelaide, this time I can 

totally show off to you, I have completely become Garrett’s 

person. You lost!” 

Adelaide turned her phone over and pressed it on the table, 

closed her eyes, her heart was already completely numb with 

pain. 

He said it wasn’t his fault, but if he hadn’t been so indecisive, 

how could Finley and Amanda have taken advantage of him? The scenes she saw weren’t just one–sided actions by Amanda,

It’s not that she didn’t care about the 22 years of relationship, it’s 

not that she didn’t give him a chance, it’s that he had already 

made the choice to push her away long ago. 

Blocked the number, she wasn’t in the mood for dinner 

anymore. She cleaned up the tableware and then took her tablet 

and went to Rosecliff Manor alone. 

Draven seemed to know she was coming, he opened the door 

before she even rang the bell. He greeted her warmly, “Ms. 

Pierce, good evening.” 

“Good evening, Draven,” Adelaide smiled slightly, “Is Mr. 

Thorton here?” 

It’s better not to, so she can work overtime and go home by 

herself. 

“He’s in, Mr. Thorton was still having dinner. Ms. Pierce, come 

on in.” 

Adelaide forced a smile and walked in. Inside, she saw Reginald sitting in the living room, leisurely enjoying his lavish dinner. She greeted him, “Mr. Thorton.” 

“Have you eaten?” Reginald asked her. 

“Ate.”

“Then just stay with me a little longer and eat some more.” 

“I’m full.” 

“You won’t explode your stomach even if you eat a few more 

bites.” 

Adelaide’s heart was numb, is it a matter of bursting or not 

bursting, she just didn’t want to eat. When she wanted to refuse again, Draven had already taken out the tableware. “Ms. Pierce, 

have a few bites.” 

Seeing that all the tableware was already set, Adelaide had no choice but to say thank you and sit down.
