Kaleb calmly explained, “Zayne’s kidnapping of Ms. Pierce will 

face the legal consequences it deserves, but for now, I received a 

call from the audit department before coming in. Mr. Pierce, the 

second batch of auditors will be coming to talk to you.” 

Finley’s eyelid was twitching like crazy, and Spencer looked 

mysterious and unclear. 

Adelaide finally saw the reaction that should have appeared on 

the faces of this father and son. 

Reginald tilted his head and said, “You go out and wait for me 

first.” 

Adelaide nodded and got up to leave. 

Spencer’s gaze followed her, and when he discreetly looked 

away, he suddenly reacted to something. The next second, he 

abruptly looked at Reginald across from him. 

Reginald smirked, looking down on others with a hint of 

superiority. 

Spencer gritted his teeth, feeling a stronger sense of foreboding.

Adelaide only sat for a moment, then Nathan showed up with 

some people, followed by the auditors. 

Two groups of people entered the meeting room in a grand 

manner. 

The way he looked, it was like he wanted to kill Finley. 

Her phone rang. 

It was Teresa who called. 

She got up and went downstairs to answer the phone, “Hello, 

Tess.” 

Teresa seemed to be running when she suddenly received a call 

from Mr. Hurst, saying “you were kidnapped last night. Who 

kidnapped you!” Mr. Hurst said you were okay, are you sure 

you’re okay? Are you still at the police station? I’m on my way 

now. 

The phone was ringing like a machine gun, Adelaide couldn’t 

help but laugh and cry: “Ms. Sampson, which question do you 

want me to answer first?” 

“Who kidnapped you?” 

“The financial manager of the Hicks Group.” 

“What the heck?!”

But Adelaide still thought it was too weird, when she asked that 

man about Garrett, his expression clearly changed. 

Before long, Adelaide received Teresa, who was out of breath, at 

the police station. 

Teresa was on edge, she checked herself up and down, but 

when she saw those scratches, her eyes turned red and she 

muttered, “Damn it!” 

“Don’t be mad, I’m fine,” Adelaide said, touching her face and 

quickly changing the subject. “Tess, do you know how Finley 

and Spencer were brought back after being taken away during 

the day?” 

“The Barnard family.” 

After saying that, Teresa looked at Adelaide’s reaction and 

smiled, “Are you shocked?” 

Adelaide moved her lips and then calmed down quickly, “It’s 

normal, both families are planning weddings, when the Pierce 

family messes up, the Barnard family will be laughed at too.” 

But just by looking at Reginald’s attitude, it was clear he was 

going to give Finley a hard time. 

Adelaide’s phone buzzed, she opened it curiously, and it was a 

message from Reginald.

“Cornelius and Garrett came over, you went with Ms. Sampson 

to find a place nearby to grab a late–night snack, I’ll be out soon.”” 

After reading the content, Adelaide’s eyelids twitched twice. 

Teresa caught a glimpse of the content and saw the name 

Garrett, she felt like ants were crawling all over her body. 

“Let’s go, let’s go,” she pulled Adelaide and hurried out. 

They were walking to the right when the Barnard family’s car 

pulled in. 

After days of torment, Garrett’s jawline became even more cold 

and thin. Out of the corner of his eye, he caught sight of a 

familiar figure, but his father’s words quickly cut off his gaze. 

“Pull yourself together, your fiancee is Amanda now, not 

Adele.” 

“Unless you don’t want me to give you the subsidiary 

management authority!” 

Garrett clenched his fist, holding back his emotions, “Dad, I 

know.”
