Chapter 101 Andrew’s Provocation 

Before Emily could even react, Andrew dragged over a stool and plopped down right next to Aaron. 

“You probably don’t know this, but just an hour ago, Emily was already out dining with another guy.” 

His words were clearly aimed at painting Emily as some loose woman, hoping to stir up trouble. 

Most men would bristle at hearing something like that, letting dissatisfaction creep in toward Emily. But Aaron just smiled warmly and said, “Emily’s a free spirit–she can have dinner with whoever she wants, and it’s none of my business. As long as it makes her happy, she’s got every right to do it. Not just me -no one’s got the authority to tell her otherwise.” 

In Aaron’s mind, he had no intention of meddling in Emily’s personal life. 

Besides, he trusted her completely; he knew she was a woman of integrity. 

Andrew’s face darkened at Aaron’s response. “Out of all the women in the world, why fixate on this one?” 

Aagon replied calmly, unruffled. “My choices are myn, Mr26 Robinson–no need for you to worry about them.”

Not one to back down, Andrew pressed on. “Tell me what kind of woman you’re into. I can set you up. I’ve got connections- plenty of options, all types.” 

Aaron’s tone turned cool and distant. “Thanks for the offer, but I’ll pass. Why don’t you keep those resources for yourself, Mr., Robinson?” 

Seeing Aaron so steadfast in defending Emily only fueled Andrew’s irritation. He leaned in closer, his voice dropping to a menacing whisper. “You were once a star in the medical world, shining bright. Now look at you–unemployed and scraping by. You clawed your way to the top through sheer grit and study, but one word from me could send you tumbling back into the gutter. How does that feel, Dr. Thomas?” 

Aaron met his gaze with a sardonic smile. “Feels pretty great, actually. Getting a head start on retirement life isn’t half bad.” 

That only ignited Andrew’s fury further. “Dr. Thomas, I’m warning you–don’t lower yourself by messing around with a woman like her.” 

Aaron’s grin remained bright and unwavering. “Funny, that advice fits you just as well, Mr. Robinson.” 

Andrew caught the veiled insult loud and clear, his anger boiling over. “Aaron, you…”

By then, Emily couldn’t stand it anymore. She shot Andrew an icy glare and demanded, “Mr. Robinson, what’s your deal with hovering over us like this? Even my own husband doesn’t butt into my private life–what do you think you are?” 

Emily’s sharp, logical retort left Andrew momentarily flustered, but he recovered with a sneer. “I just can’t stand the sight of it, that’s all.” 

“Can’t stand it? Then suck it up. There’s no law saying you get to meddle just because something rubs you the wrong way,” Emily fired back without missing a beat. 

She didn’t give him a chance to respond. Standing up abruptly, she turned to Aaron. “Aaron, let’s grab food somewhere else.” 

Aaron rose smoothly, his voice even and agreeable. “Sounds good.” 

As they passed by Ethan’s table, Emily made a point to pause. 

Ethan looked up at her, silent as stone. 

But Emily fixed him with a fierce stare and spat, “You might not be able to control your heart, but at least rein in the lapdogs around you. Have some basic decency–don’t let them ruin other people’s peace!”

With that, she stormed off with Aaron, not sparing a backward glance. 

Ethan didn’t utter a word, but his mood had clearly soured, shadow falling over his features.

Once seated, Nancy handed him the menu. “Andrew, why don’t you order?” 

Andrew grunted in acknowledgment and took it from her. 

Nancy glanced over at Ethan. Seeing him with his head down, lost in silence, she could tell Emily’s words had struck a nerve, leaving him unsettled. 

“Ethan, you okay?” Nancy leaned in, her voice soft and soothing. 

He met her eyes briefly and murmured, “Yeah.”
