Chapter 148 Don’t Bother 

Oliver cast a cold glance at Andrew and said, “Don’t bother. Before I leave, there’s something I’d like to remind you of. My student just saved Mrs. Robinson’s life. You may call me an old bastard if you like, but in the medical field, as long as someone is a medical student, I’m qualified to speak my mind.” 

With that, Oliver angrily picked up his briefcase and left the private room. 

After Oliver was gone, Andrew complained angrily to Ethan, “Does that old man even know who’s backing him? Without your funding, his labs wouldn’t exist. How dare he talk to Nancy like that, and how dare he talk to me like that?” 

Andrew was furious, so much so that he almost wanted to chase after Oliver and argue it out with him. 

Nancy sat to the side, quietly sobbing. 

The reason Ethan didn’t defend Nancy was that Oliver was right. 

Still, seeing Nancy cry made him feel bad for her. Under the table, he reached out and placed his hand gently over the back of hers.

Ethan didn’t say who else was involved, but he added, “Oliver is off–limits.” 

Andrew naturally understood what Ethan meant and realized that Oliver’s position was more complicated than he had assumed. 

So he stopped complaining. 

Still, seeing Nancy in tears, Andrew couldn’t help saying, “Nancy, if it really comes down to it, medicine isn’t the only path you have to take.” 

Nancy looked up with reddened eyes. “No. I’ve put so much effort into getting where I am today. I don’t want to give up just 

like that.” 

Ethan turned to her, pressed his lips together lightly, and said, “Now that you know where you’re falling short, work on fixing 

it.”

Nancy felt much better. She smiled at Ethan and said, “Thank you.”

Andrew finally relaxed. Watching the unspoken familiarity between Ethan and Nancy, he felt reassured. 

When Ethan had brought up Emily out of the blue yesterday, Andrew had thought Ethan might still have feelings for her. 

Now it seemed he had overthought it. 

With a woman as refined and gentle as Nancy by his side, who would want someone like Emily–someone who had nothing to 

offer? 

In the restaurant’s main dining area, after Aaron learned that Oliver had gone to meet Ethan and the others, he signaled the server to bring the menu. 

Oliver might have had other engagements, but Aaron and Emily still needed to eat.

It was clear that Oliver hadn’t actually dined with the others earlier. Otherwise, he would not be here now. 

Aaron handed him the menu and said, “What would you like to 

order?” 

Just as Oliver was about to look at the menu, Emily spoke softly, “Should we move to a private room instead?” 

Although this was a high–end restaurant, the main dining area had constant foot traffic. 

Given Oliver’s status, Emily couldn’t help thinking it might
