Chapter 151 Let Go 

Carter Manor had household staff, and both Henry and Linda were at home. There was no way Alexander could’ve entered through the front door. 

Alexander brushed off her question, unhurried and clearly not planning to answer. Instead, he lowered his head and took a deep breath, inhaling the scent of Emily that lingered on the pillows and sheets. 

When he lifted his face from the pillow, Alexander drew in another indulgent breath. He opened his eyes, propped his face on one hand, stretched his long legs across the bed, and let his free hand tap idly against his knee. 

A roguish smile curved at the corner of his mouth, his tone thick with provocation. “Your scent is incredible. It’s completely addictive.” 

As he spoke, he licked his lips, looking openly hungry. 

Emily stared at him in alarm. “Answer my question.”

It had been raining that morning, and she was certain she had closed the window when she left.

a few strides, he was right in front of her. 

He deliberately left his shirt open, revealing firm, well–defined muscles that gleamed with a warm sheen under the light.

As he stepped closer, Emily backed up until her legs hit the vanity. Her balance faltered, and she tipped backward. 

Just then, Alexander caught her by the waist, pressing her securely against his chest.

In her panic, Emily pulled away the hand that had been keeping distance between them, and her body pressed directly against his bare skin.

Emily let out a startled cry. 

Almost immediately, Alexander set her down on the bed. 

The moment she touched the mattress, he seized both her wrists, pinning them so she had no leverage left. Forced to look up, she could only meet his gaze. 

Alexander leaned over her, blocking out the light behind him. His face was obscured in shadow, but the sound of his heavy breathing rose and fell in the dimness.
