Chapter 207 Paint FallÂ
Kyrian answered casually, “Yeah.”Â
Alexander said, “Send me your location.”Â
Kyrian said, “Okay.”Â
After hanging up, Kyrian sent him the location right away.Â
It didn’t take long before Alexander arrived.Â
Then Ethan also appeared on the lawn, holding Sophia in hisÂ
arms.Â
Alexander stood next to Kyrian and muttered under his breath, “Figures. He’s everywhere.”Â
Kyrian just smiled without saying anything and kept his eyes on Tommy.Â
Emily saw Alexander and was debating whether to say hello, but then she noticed Ethan and the others coming over. So she didn’t end up greeting Alexander after all.Â
Ethan spotted Emily and her group too. He paused for aÂ
second while holding Sophia but didn’t say anything. He just walked over and sat down nearby.Â

handed her a paintbrush.Â
Ethan had brought along a small table and set his laptop on it. Instead of painting with Sophia, he stared at his screen and got to work.Â
Meanwhile, Alexander saw that Emily wasn’t acknowledging him, so he didn’t try to talk to her. He walked over to Tommy instead and glanced at his painting. “That’s not right.”Â
Tommy pouted, “Then how am I supposed to do it?”Â
Alexander said, “Why are you painting flowers in fall? You should be painting maple leaves or trees.”Â
Tommy’s face fell. “But I don’t know how to paint those.”Â
Emily heard this and quickly came over. “Tommy, how about I teach you?”Â
It wasn’t that she wanted to get close to Alexander. She just didn’t want to hurt the kid’s feelings.Â
When Emily leaned in closer, the breeze carried her fresh scent over to him. Alexander breathed it in deeply and his ears started burning hot.Â
Emily finished drawing the tree pretty quickly. Molly andÂ
Tommy both clapped their hands and started praising her 2/6 when they saw it.Â

“Aunt Emily, you’re so good at this!”Â
“Ms. Carter, that looks amazing! The teacher’s definitely going to praise you when they see it.”Â
Emily didn’t actually think her drawing was that great, but the two kids were so enthusiastic about it that she felt a little embarrassed.Â
She scratched her ear and asked with a smile, “Is it really that good?”Â
Both kids answered at the same time. “Yes!”Â
Alexander’s voice was mixed in with theirs. He said quietly, “Good.”Â
His voice was so soft that it got drowned out by the kids.Â
Sophia heard all the laughter and happy chatter from over there. She held her paintbrush and rested her hand on the easel, but she didn’t know where to start.Â
The teacher had told them to paint fall, but what was fall supposed to look like?Â
Sophia turned her head and saw Ethan typing on his computer. Rebecca was looking down at her phone watching a show. They were nice to her, but they didn’t seem to care whether sheÂ

could finish her homework or not.Â
Sophia felt like crying, but she held it back. She called out softly, “Daddy.”Â
Ethan looked up at her. “Yeah?”Â
“I don’t know how to paint,” Sophia said.Â
Ethan was absorbed in his work and completely oblivious to the fun Emily’s group was having.Â
When he heard Sophia say she couldn’t do it, he instinctively looked over at Emily. She was teaching Tommy how to draw.Â
He called out to her. “Emily.”Â
Emily looked over, her expression cool. “What?”Â
“Sophie says she wants you to teach her how to paint fall,” Ethan said.Â
Emily was clearly taken aback. She looked at Sophia and saw the little girl had her head down. Sophia wasn’t looking at her and she didn’t deny what Ethan had said either.Â
After a brief pause, Emily agreed, “Okay.”Â

onto her and he wouldn’t look away. His gaze was sharp and intense, like he was trying to tell her not to go.Â
But Emily didn’t notice his look at all. She got up and walkedÂ
over anyway.Â
Molly and Tommy both noticed. Tommy called out without thinking, “Ms. Carter?”Â
Molly stopped him. “Mind your own business. Aunt Emily knows what she’s doing.”Â
Tommy said, “Oh,” and went back to his drawing.Â
Emily came over to Sophia and sat down cross–legged. She didn’t look at her daughter and just stared at the blank canvas. “What do you want to paint, Sophie?”Â
“I want to paint a kite,” Sophia said.Â
Emily thought for a second. “The teacher said it has to be about fall, so if you draw a kite, you could add a tree underneath it that’s losing its leaves. That would give it that fall feeling.”Â
Sophia nodded. “Okay.”Â
But she wasn’t really paying attention. She turned her head to look at Emily instead. Emily had such pretty eyes and her eyelashes curled up so nicely. She smelled good too, like 5/6Â

something sweet and comforting.Â
Sophia opened her mouth. She wanted so badly to say “Mommy,” but when the word reached her lips, it just wouldn’tÂ
come out.Â
Emily finished up the drawing. “There we go. All done.”Â
She stood up and started to turn away, but that’s when Sophia spotted the blood. It was seeping through the fabric on Emily’sÂ
arm.Â
Sophia couldn’t hold it in anymore. “Mommy! Your hand is bleeding.”Â
