Chapter 218 CheapÂ
In the spacious VIP ward, not only Julian, Emma, Andrew, and Shawn were present, but also some of Matthew’s good friends.Â
As Emily and Ethan walked in, all eyes in the room shifted their way.Â
Matthew, seeing them, broke into a wider smile and reached out his hand, beckoning, “Come on, dear. Sit beside me.”Â
Emily made her way over with a bouquet of flowers in her arms. After carefully arranging them, she said to Matthew, “Matthew, wish you a speedy recovery and a long, healthy life.”Â
Ethan followed behind, placing a fruit hamper among the other gifts.Â
Straightening up, he asked with concern, “Feeling any better today, Grandpa?”Â
Matthew looked at the two of them fondly, then gently placed their hands together. With a kind smile, he said, “I don’t need a super–long life. As long as you two are well and happy, even if I pass away right now, it’d be worth it.”Â
Emily frowned slightly. “Matthew, don’t talk like that,” sheÂ
said.Â

good care of Emily.”Â
As he spoke, he casually put his arm around Emily’s waist.Â
Emily felt extremely uncomfortable but managed to hold back her annoyance.Â
Noticing that Emily hadn’t really responded, Matthew looked up at her.Â
With a sigh, Emily said, “Yeah, I’ll live well with Ethan.”Â
Across the room, Andrew watched the scene with a disdainful look on his face.Â
“Such a phony,” he muttered under his breath.Â
Shawn nudged him. “What are you talking about?”Â
Andrew didn’t want to repeat himself. After giving Shawn a roll of his eyes, he took a step and left the hospital room.Â
Matthew, having voiced his wish and gotten the responses he wanted, looked around the room. “Since you’ve all heard it, be their witnesses,” he said in a strong voice.Â
Some people nodded in agreement, while others turned away, clearly unhappy.Â

After spending some time with Matthew, she excused herself, saying she needed to use the restroom, and left the stuffy ward.Â
As she was coming out of the restroom, a voice called out, “Hey, stop!” It was Andrew.Â
Emily turned around and saw him emerging from the shadows. His face was full of disgust.Â
As he approached, he towered over Emily. “Still holding onto the Wilson name. Is it fun?” he asked.Â
Emily knew he was speaking up for Nancy.Â
“Not really,” she replied, her tone laced with a bit of disdain.Â
Andrew raised an eyebrow, surprised by her direct look. In his memory, Emily had always been meek.Â
He took a couple more steps forward, his large frame casting a shadow over her.Â
“Ethan’s always loved Nancy. When are you gonna step down?” he asked bluntly.Â
Rather than backing down, Emily tilted her chin up to confront Andrew. “I’m not stepping aside. What’re you gonna do aboutÂ
it?”Â

Andrew couldn’t help but find her haughty demeanor amusing.Â
He let out a couple of chuckles, then abruptly stopped and sneered, “The Carters are just trash. You’re as cheap as your brother’s wife.”Â
His eyes were full of blatant mockery.Â
The anger in Emily flared up at his words. She glared at him and barked, “What did you say?”Â
Andrew stuffed his hands in his pockets and spoke in a condescending tone, “I said you’re both cheap. Heard me clearly? If not, I can—”Â
Before he could finish, Emily raised her hand and slapped him hard across the face. “Shut up!”Â
Andrew’s head snapped to the side. He pressed his tongue against his numb cheek, and a trickle of blood seeped out of the corner of his mouth.Â
Emily felt a tingling numbness in her palm; she’d really put her strength into that slap. She said in a firm voice, “You can insult me, but you have no right to talk about Chloe like that.”Â
Wiping the blood from his lips with his finger, Andrew stared at the red stain on his skin.Â

When he looked at Emily again, his voice dripped with mockery. “Not cheap? She stripped in front of me, tried to seduce me, and begged me to sleep with her. Isn’t that cheap?”Â
Emily shook her head firmly. “No way. She’s not like that.”Â
Andrew laughed even louder. “Really?”Â
“Stop slandering her. You think I’d believe you?” Emily retorted.Â
