The sudden ring sliced through the stillness, and everyone instinctively went quiet. 

Thus, the voice on the other end came through loud and clear. 

It was Lucas. 

“Hello, Mr. Carter. This is Lucas Harris, Mr. Wilson’s assistant from the Wilson Group. Mr. Wilson just had me give you a call about a potential partnership.” 

Lucas spoke in a deferential tone, all wrapped up in corporate pleasantries. 

Emily’s eyes were glued to Ryan as she waited for his response.00

Emily dropped her head, lost in thought. 

Ryan forced a smile. “Let’s eat. These rough days are behind us.”

“So, you’ve been out nailing down this deal these days?” Emily pressed.

At his words, Chloe’s eyes started to well up. 

Ryan quickly passed her a tissue. “What’s going on?” 

Chloe shook her head. “Nothing. I just feel like marrying you was the best decision I’ve ever made.” 

Ryan pulled her into a hug. “Marrying you is my proudest achievement.” 

With the Carter family’s crisis resolved, Emily finally felt the weight lift off her chest.

Tommy had hit the hay early, leaving only Kyrian, Alexander, and Michael in the living room.

Noticing Alexander’s deep concern, Michael couldn’t resist asking, “Why don’t you just step in and help them directly? You’re doing all this without getting any credit. The Carters won’t know, let alone Emily. What’s the point?” 

Alexander shut his eyes and asked calmly, “If I got involved, do you think Ryan’d accept the partnership?” 

Michael didn’t answer right away just stated firmly, “You really fell in love with her.” 

the word “love” irked Alexander.

Alexander picked up his glass, took a sip of the red wine, then put it back on the table. He gave Kyrian a cold look and said, “Of course!” 

Then he got up and made a beeline for the door. 

Michael and Kyrian exchanged a look. 

“When this guy falls in love, we’re the ones who’ll be tormented,” Michael commented. 

Kyrian nodded in agreement. “I can relate to that.” 

Michael added, “Well, still, I wish him sucess.”
