Chapter 64 Which Town Is She In? 

After leaving Carter Manor, Ethan settled into his Rolls–Royce. 

With his hand resting on the windowsill, he felt the still–warm night breeze. Lighting a cigarette, he took a drag, his eyes narrowing menacingly as the smoke curled around him. 

The video Andrew had shown earlier flashed in his mind, and he abruptly stubbed out the cigarette. 

Pulling out his phone, he dialed Emily’s number. 

It rang, but there was no answer. 

Ethan’s patience was quickly running out. 

Suddenly recalling Andrew as the source of the video, he switched gears and called Andrew instead. 

“Ethan. What’s the deal?” Andrew answered right away, background filled with the thumping of music.

“Where are you at?” Ethan asked bluntly. 

After getting the address, Ethan simply said, “Alright, I’m on my way.” 

Half an hour later, Ethan pulled up at the place with Shawn by his side.

Both men looked like they’d just swallowed a lemon as they stepped into the private room. 

Andrew got up to greet them. “Hey, guys.” 

Ethan scanned the others around Andrew. “Everyone, out,” he 

ordered. 

Andrew was a bit taken aback but didn’t say a word, figuring Ethan had something serious to discuss. 

As the last person was heading out, Ethan added, “Shut the door behind you.”

His calmness was almost unsettling, and Andrew started to feel a knot in his stomach. 

Once the door was closed, Ethan took a seat next to Andrew. 

Andrew sat back down, too. “What’s with all the mystery?” he asked, looking between the two of them. 

Shawn leaned over the coffee table. “Ethan’s been looking for Emily all day. You know where she is?” 

Hearing Emily’s name, Andrew got a little jittery. He slumped back on the couch and said, “I… I have no clue where she is.” 

Shawn gave him a hard look. “You’d better be telling the truth.”

“What’s going on here?” Andrew asked, looking up at Shawn. 

Shawn glanced at Ethan, then back at Andrew. “Sophie’s missing her mom and her cooking. Ethan’s been going nuts trying to find Emily.” 

Andrew started to feel nervous. He frowned and met Ethan’s 

cold stare. 

Shivering a bit, he stammered, “You… you called her?” 

Ethan didn’t answer. Instead, he fixed his eyes on Andrew. “Where’d you get that video?” 

The question was calm, but it made Andrew’s heart race. He hung his head. “I set it up. I got Orion, the hospital dean, to send her to the countryside. But Ethan. I did it for you. I couldn’t stand seeing her with other guys. 

Ethan’s voice was flat. “Which town is she in?” 

“You have to ask Orion. He arranged it,” Andrew replied. 

Ethan raised his voice. “Call him. 

Andrew fumbled for his phone and dialed Orion’s number with shaky hands. 

After getting the address, Ethan stood up and headed for the

Andrew, worried, got up and followed. “Ethan, I’m coming with 

you.”

After clocking out, Emily headed towards a stream. Despite it being fall, the scorching heat hadn’t relented yet. 

She thought wading in the water might cheer her up. 

The stream was pristine, teeming with little fish darting here and there. Catching them for a bit of fun seemed like the perfect stress–buster. 

Meanwhile, Ethan had been blowing up Emily’s phone all day. At first, she’d just hit the decline button, but later, she simply silenced her phone. 

No more annoying rings, no more stress. 

Mid–water–frolic, Aaron strolled up. 

The pair spent hours by the stream, and it was nearly eight when they decided to call it a day. Just then, Aaron let out a sharp cry. The water around his bot quickly turned a deep red. 

“Whoa, what’s going on?” Emily asked, worry creeping into her 

voice.

Aaron just laughed it off. “Think I stepped on some broken glass,” he said nonchalantly.

Seeing his laid–back attitude even with an injury, Emily didn’t scold him. 

“Let’s head to the hospital. Gotta get that looked at,” she insisted. 

As medical folks, they were well aware that a wound like this could be a minor scratch or a major problem. 

A tetanus shot was definitely in order. 

Aaron didn’t put up a fight and followed Emily to the hospital. 

Once his wound was taken care of at the hospital, Emily invited Aaron over. “I’ll whip up something to eat,” she said. 

The town was so small that decent dining options were few and far between. 

If they had a particular craving, they would have to get in the kitchen and cook it up themselves. 

Aaron was all for it. 

After chowing down, he said he was feeling all sweaty and wanted to take a shower. Emily gave him the okay.

Shortly after Aaron disappeared into the bathroom, there came a knock on the door. 

Emily assumed it was a neighbor. Since she’d moved to this town ten days ago, the neighbors had been super nice, always dropping off fresh veggies. 

Without bothering to ask who it was, she opened the door. 

But when she saw who was standing there, the smile on her face faded away in an instant. 

“Ethan?” she said, her voice a mix of shock and confusion. 

And right behind Ethan was Andrew.
