Chapter 65 Coming Back or Staying 

Before Ethan could utter a word, Aaron stepped out of the bathroom, fresh from his shower, 

As Andrew caught sight of Aaron, his temper flared up. He shot an angry look at Emily and barked, “Well, well! Sent you to the countryside for work, and what do you do? You bring your sweetheart here to live together. You’re quite the one, Emily! I never knew you were this sort of woman before.” 

Without offering a single explanation, Emily kept her eyes locked on Ethan. “What about you? Do you think the same way?” she queried. 

Ethan had also spotted Aaron, and his features hardened even 

more. 

On the journey over, he’d been ruminating on the Carter family’s reactions and thought he’d been too harsh on Emily. 

But it seemed she was far more at ease than he’d supposed. 

Ethan stayed silent for a good while. “Say something,” Emily demanded, her voice rising. 

Finally, Ethan broke the silence. The evidence is plain as day. What’s the point of excuses?” 

Hearing his words, Emily forced a smile, though her eyes

Andrew was infuriated by Emily’s self–assured demeanor. Not wanting to engage in an argument with a woman, he strode into the room and approached Aaron. 

“You’re really something, going after Ethan’s woman!” Andrew hissed, then took another step closer. “Looking for a fight?” 

Aaron just grinned nonchalantly and was about to say something when Emily rushed over and positioned herself in front of him, shielding him. 

“Andrew, if you’ve got a problem, come at me,” she declared firmly. 

Andrew let out a low, sarcastic laugh. “You’re really looking out for him, huh? Have you forgotten whose wife you are?” 

Emily found his words utterly ridiculous. She tilted her head up and stared Andrew in the eye. “Then why don’t you ask Ethan if he remembers he’s my husband?”

“Then tell me, what’s the difference?” Emily fixed Andrew with a steady gaze. 

Andrew was at a loss for words and fell silent. 

But Emily wasn’t about to let it go. “When he was smiling at Nancy and showing her off to everyone, did you ever stop to think that Ethan is my husband?‘ 

Andrew grew even more flustered. “You’re just being stubborn and unreasonable.” 

“What? Now that the main character’s changed, you change your story?” Emily let out a bitter laugh. 

Just then, Ethan, who had been observing the whole scene from the doorway, finally spoke up, “Knock it off.” 

Hearing his command, Andrew reluctantly took a couple of steps back. 

Emily looked back at Ethan. His face was impassive, and it was hard to read his emotions. But he started walking slowly towards them. 

As before, Emily stood firmly in front of Aaron. “What on earth do you want?” she demanded.

Then, cupping his ear, he quipped, “Where’s that yapping mutt? I can hear it but not see it!” 

Andrew flared up and charged at Alexander. “Cut the act, will you?” 

Alexander dropped his arms and stood up straight, stepping right up to Andrew. The amusement in his eyes vanished, replaced by a cold glint. “What? Got a beef with me?” 

Andrew was seething, but before he could throw a punch, Ethan called out, “Andrew.”

At his words, Andrew stepped back, glaring. “You’re being too cocky, Alexander.” 

Alexander smirked. “Yeah, so what?” 

With that, Andrew huffed and left the room.

With her affection for him having faded into the past, Emily fixed her gaze on him and firmly retorted, “I’m not your lapdog, Ethan.” 

Suddenly, Ethan’s voice took on an icy edge. “Then don’t count on me to go easy on the Carter family.” 

With that threat, he walked out. 

As he passed Alexander, their eyes met, a silent battle raging between them. 

Outside, Andrew looked at Ethan, confused. “Just leave it at that?” 

Ethan simply nodded. 

Inside the room, Emily felt like laughing. 

How dare Ethan order her around like this? He’d brought her to
