Chapter 78 Come to the Banquet 

It was a long while before a soft “Okay” escaped her lips. 

Shortly thereafter, the fading sound of Ethan’s footsteps signaled his departure.

Only then did Emily’s taut body finally unwind. The spots where Ethan had touched seemed to be numbed, as if the very contact had left a strange, immobile sensation.

At that moment, Emily had her finger under the gushing cold water from the faucet. 

Startled by Ethan’s voice, she quickly regained her wits and replied, “It’s nothing.” 

Standing tall, Ethan leaned in slightly and saw the reddened finger. Without further ado, he turned and walked out of the

Over the five–year marriage, Emily had never felt free to be herself around Ethan. She was constantly second–guessing her actions, worried about his reactions.

In the end, it was clear Ethan didn’t love her.

Frowning, Emily retorted, “Alexander, if you’ve got something to say, just come out with it.”

“Okay,” she said, holding the phone. 

Then Alexander switched his tone again. “Sweetie, I’m gonna hang up. Don’t forget to miss me. 

After hanging up, Emily hailed a cab and headed back to Carter 

Manor. 

It wasn’t long before someone contacted her.
